I have lived in Beverly Hills. In fact, I lived on Beverly Drive, on that strip of road north of the Beverly Hills Hotel so famously filmed for the palm trees lining the road full of mansions. My ZIP code was 90210. I lived there on $8/hour in 1995-96 and had two homes on one acre all to myself by providing property maintenance for the absentee owner. It may sound like a cool gig but living in that town for two years I caught my first glimpse of how f-ed up Hollywood and the ruling elite really are.
Man, living in Beverly hills really has it's charm for about half a year, all down hill from there. It's kind of ironic, Beverly hills is a lot like an actual hill, only awesome at the top.
How so? How did it turn you off?
i love how brad focuses more on the lyrics while lex focuses more on the music itself.
A couple more Weezer songs that are quirky like this are "Pork and Beans" and "I'm the Greatest Man that Ever Lived". Thanks for the post!
In this episode of Brad & Lex, the bump bump clap is a driving force which forces Lex into her unorthodox "feather in the wind rock bop" complete with wild and beautiful hand gestures as Brad is buried in unrecognizable enjoyment disguising it with a very nonchalant "side to side sway".

Saw them live for free in downtown Atlanta back in the early 2000s. Got to see a number of great artists for free that summer. It was a summer long series of free concerts.

I love Weezer!! Id highly suggest a few more from them. Island in the Sun, El Scorcho seems lesser known but one of my favs. They also did a cover of an 80s song Take on Me that is great and the video is beyond great! Please try one of them 😊

Y'all should listen to "Rock & Roll Lifestyle" by Cake. That was the first song of theirs I ever heard, and they didn't sound like anybody else. Same sort of humorous delivery and amusing lyrics as this song; both Cake and Weezer debuted at about the same time in the '90s and I loved them both!

Thanks for doing Weezer! About '95 or '96 I saw them on Conan or The Late Late Show, I can't remember, but I thought what a great band. You should check out more by them. Brian Bell is one of my favorite guitarists.
Grew up in Beverly Hills was a interesting place to live for sure .I liked it Until the Manson Murders & didn't feel safe anymore.

It’s so much more than a breakdown/critique of this song (and Weezer, his favorite band as a teen). It’s hilarious, bittersweet, heartwarming, and highly entertaining. So many things, and so well done. The end made me cry.

weezer did pretty well in 2005, but now they are really being respected for it
This is somewhat subjective, but I would say that Beverly Hills was written when Weezer was alternatively famous, but maybe just before they could be considered mainstream famous. Probably not a favorite of most Weezer "purists." I like pieces from all their stages though. Variations on a shaker hymn was an amusing take from around this same era.
They had already hit the height of their fame when this game out. If anything this started their decline in fame.
It's possible, but that's not how my memory recollects it. It was shortly after that song came out that I could talk about Weezer and people actually knew who I meant. Weezer now is a household name... and prior to that it was a very small circle of people who knew them.

I recall that Brad doesn't like music videos and prefers watching the lyrics scroll by, which is a great way to appreciate a song. But you might like to privately check out the music video for this one. It was filmed at the Playboy Mansion and was pretty funny.

Forgot about Weezer for some reason. They were probably the original EMO band, if not the best.
Weezer were never big in the UK. We only heard Buddy Holly because it came free with Windows 95.

I always felt they were pretty big here, obviously nowhere near as big as in US but their videos were constantly on Scuzz and Kerrang TV in early noughties and I know they had some gold certificate albums in in early days in UK.

I struggled through the 90's trying to find myself through the popular music of that time. Then I came across Weezer and everything made sense in life! They were soooo different and I was happy to discover them!!
