I was chasing the 2102 today, so seeing this video come out today is kind of funny. Also, I recommend not using the smoke much with these T1 engines. I’ve seen people report their boilers melted after faults attempting to turn it off by the control key and the unit goes maximum heat. This is one model that should’ve either been metal or had no smoke at all.
This. Same issue with the Pennsy Decapods too. Quality control issues thanks to COVID. Paragon 3 version of the Reading didn't fare much better either and has a three pole motor! Paragon 2 versions of this seem like the safer bet if you can find one. I would only get a Paragon 4 if the price was insanely cheap.
@@OriginalBongoliath if you’re looking for the best, in my own opinion, Reading T1 model then I recommend the Precision Craft Models version. No smoke to worry about, heavier than the BLI counterparts, swappable traction tire axle, oh and has an 8/21 pin motherboard so adding a quality sound system is easy. The motors run like Swiss watches. Couldn’t tell ya poles but probably a 5 pole.
WOW, this is nicer than I thought! Most likely, will be my first BLI Steam LOCO. Coming from junk and old stuff and stepping into quality finally. After getting my N scale BLI FM7 with all the DCC sound and stuff, never looking back! What a difference! Time to just ditch all the old school vintage and invest in quality. Makes the hobby a lot more fun! Awesome video! Can't wait!
What a spectacular looking steam locomotive, this 4-8-4 model makes me want to focus on modeling the transitional era (1940s-50s ) time period more often with the stunning appearance of the detail of a steam engine.
BLI makes such nice HO steam, but their sound is so far behind. They probably rank 4th or 5th in my opinion. It's a shame to have to gut them and pay for new decoders. Also hate to lose the smoke feature. I'm hoping ESU has a new decoder on the way that will control smoke in HO scale. I've been asking for that for about 8 years now.
Timing perfect on this review James the 2102 was out on the railroad today making a shake down run, on the Reading and Northern
I was chasing it. She’s a beauty!

Lower the CV for smoke unit temp to about 60 and the problem should be solved

Fitting since RBMN 2102 is back up and running. Hope BLI makes it in the coming years.
This run has the BM&R 2102 from the 80’s and 90’s in. They do the T1 so much that we should see the Reading & Northern version next time.

Awesome video friend! This is the perfect video today because 2102 was on the road again!
I hope the N scale model is equally as stunning 😍
I'm thinking of possibly getting one of these for my birthday this August
Awesome review. Thanks for sharing
Amazing locomotive. 🚂😎😎👍
We need to get you that bass unit for Paragon
Awesome!
I got to ride behind 2102 yesterday on the Iron Horse Rambles at the Reading and Northern. A very impressive, powerful and beautiful locomotive
