I was told by the one guy at my local hobbyshop that the cause for the shells melting is that the owners did not turn off the smoke machine and kept it on. He said there is a switch on the bottom to turn the smoke machine off or on.
Ive tryed every chuff combination on JMRI programming and it goes out of sync everytime it drives me nuts. Plus the chuff sounds off from the real thing
This is an impressive Reading rr t1 class model, I am glad to see that BLI has been producing more eastern territory 4-8-4 types in recent years. This Reading rr t1 type is a classic example of northeastern steam power and I do find this locomotive attractive.
Cool video! Perfect timing of uploading this review right after the doubleheader weekend, little did we know when this was shot 425 would actually be right behind it (The doubleheader announcement was on July 20)
Yes. Dont buy their plastic stuff, the boiler will melt from the smoke. I have all diecast and brass hybrid from them. Haven't had a problem.@HalbeargameZ
The chuff going in and out of sync is a problem with BLI's Paragon 2-4 stuff. All the more reason to remove the decoder and replace it with literally anything else.
I have the BM&R scheme from this run. It will be getting Tsunami 2 as soon as I can. It just seems to be a Paragon 3 decoder with some issues fixed but new issues arose. Personally, if I could I would just track down the PCM models as they have the same tooling and are heavier and are w/o a traction tire.

I’m still trying to get me one at a train show next weekend on Saturday the 27th
I hope you find one! It's a newer model so I'm sure you'll get it
Trainworld has 6 or so in stock
Great job on the review! This model will be getting ESU LokSound at some point, maybe we can do a comparison when it’s done 🤔
I do know of one that got ESU in it. It was an older paragon 2 though but I don’t think it’s very different.

I've heard so many mixed opinions about BLI and I honestly don't know if I should risk purchasing any of their products.
their diecast and brass hybrids are incredible, and newer paragon 4 is great aswell
