I'm so unbelievably happy that on a rather high spec version there's still an ignition barrel with a standard key and manual handbrake. 10/10 would buy this car with the 7year warranty being a bonus! Great video Marek

I drove the new Ceed a few days ago with the same engine and gearbox and found it very good. I had no issues with gear changes. The steering is much better than the previous generation, also the sound proofing is improved. I have a 2017 Cee'd SW with a 1.6 GDI engine to compare it with. I love the exterior design of this new generation. I also had issues with the controls for the climate. One disappointment for me was that they changed the gas pedal from the previous generation, but I got used to it in a minute or so. The brakes I found were more grabby. LKAS indeed is a bit annoying. Overall I think it is a fantastic car, if I knew it was going to be this good, I would probably have waited for another year and bought this one.
After many years did you experience any kinda weird gear change as my friend bought a new one and has this issue where when going from 1st to 2nd gear sometimes [not often] it kinda grinds but not real grind, but more like it would jump out of the gear and then it clinks in. Like a little jump,,, ??

The grinding teeth is probably caused by the insane clutch settings that KIA use... I literally need to fully press the clutch so hard that my left foot hurts after prolonged driving. Occasionally i also grind teeth when shifting down or into 1st.. :-/
I had many Golfs but i find that the new Ceed has some kind of more dynamic look, without being too aggressive ! Seriously considering the 1.4 (140HP) fully loaded, as my next daily...
What happened, did you buy one? I am thinking of buying one, either Gold or GT line (GT seats are quite bad, and while center console looks more premium, I find it slighly less functional)
I found it very much like the new i30, so engine is tuned quite well, biermann has done good improvements with damping and road holding quality, but the manuals both have too much rev hang. Still, both good cars.

Took one for a test drive today. Wow. Back ground: Drove an Audi A3 1.8l for 3 years fantastic car. 7 months ago got a 2018 Suzuki vitara electric broke and I got courtesy car a brand new a 2018 MG in December for a month With electric hand brake nightmarish hill starts and parking. Very misleading rear camera small boot, huge car no features. Got in this car and it felt like I was back in the A3.nice big boot. Breaks way to sharp. It took the humps with ease and brilliantly mount a pavement and decended like honey of a spoon. Nothing to feel here!!! Down bumpy roads I tried excelerating from still not impressed. However, Very responsive stearing. And shifts once on the move. Theres Lots of head room for a 6 footer with teen age hair. Its under 122 hbp so great for young. back seat are a good hight for teens and adults. It impressive for the money. I will defiantly be consider the ceed 3 1l turbo. Oh and love the manual hand break and glasses holder. Built in Sat nave and DAB radio. Great family car. I will be test driving a Toyota and a Nissan but not a VW because they all have electric handbrakes. Probably going to get one.
I tried too both of them, i ordered ceed sw since it has bigger boot space and better rear mirror view compared too proceed, and on same price on ceed sw you get start/stop, keyless and electric backdoor, so buying proceed with theese too functions make it alot more expensive !
@@Swejee yes, the Proceed's boot didn't work for us too. We shifted to the Ceed SW, but then ditched it too because in our country some configuration options are not available ("Platinum" package), but they are offered in neighbouring countries. Not going to support any manufacturer doing this.
@@danield.7359 You are right, I noticed too, KIA is delivering diffrent packages on diffrent countries, I got the main features that car should have on 2019 on ceed sw i was looking for, so i am still waiting for delivery on 1st week of august. I dont have any reason to ditch it :)

I said "fully loaded KIA doesn’t offer everything you can get in a Volkswagen". Probably you can't get rear heated seats in the Golf, but other options should be available on Mk7 FL. And the Golf still offers more options, than Ceed.
Compared the new ceed with the new i30 can you spot any differences, or basically is the same car in different wrap? The specs are identical for both cars
Lane keeping assist on by default on every cold start kills this car stone dead for me. I have enough of an issue with the same default with stop/start on auto transmission cars. No way will I tolerate yet another intrusive system to switch off after cold start.
I don't think that it is mandatory to have lane keep assist default to on. It certainly doesn't on my current XC90, and you don't get safer than that. Neither does it on my family's CR-V or Qashqai, both hi-spec models. Lane keep assist if fine for the motorway but here, out in the countryside, I'm regularly smoothing the drive by taking the racing line as long as there is visibility to do so. I bet you do too. Not many drive as if they are on a railway track.

Del Johnson that is true. Kia will lose value much faster. It is a no brainer. You pay 10% more for the Golf but you get a better car, premium feeling inside, much better resale price and end last but not least VW badge on the grill. Allways much more preferred then the KIA (I have talked to many people about this if they have to choose they always go for the VW when only branding is in quesiton) And at the end who looses more thinking it saved some money in the start...

The only thing I'm not sure is rear leg room and real world consumption. Everything else seems great and make for a very nice value, overall car! In terms of design, I just can't understand what people want. They keep saying that every car is a copy of this and that - and I agree that more and more brands implement the same design elements - coupé and floating roof lines, two tone rims, big vertical grills, etc. - but if you criticise this you can't at the same time criticise brands who try something different , like some of the japanese. Either you like something a bit conservative and more mainstream or something bold and new. I hope you don't take this personally, this isn't a criticism that I make to you, but rather to the whole car critics and enthusiasts.

Well... 3 cylinder is cheaper. But thats about it. It seems to be quite gas hungry, while not delivering anything spectacular in any area... its just seems like mediocre choice :( On the other hand 1.4TGDI is comparable with 1.4TSI - sure, lower power and gas consumption is still not best in class, but its very nice, smooth and user friendly engine (and acceleration below 9 sec sounds really good in new ceed).
The BS you are soeaking , multilink was a standard on previous ceed also as standard. My average fuel consumption is 6.8L/100km....and i drive sporty...not 8L like you said...lots of bs you are saying

Nha, Golf will kill itself, with it's bad reliability, sh*tty engines and DSG-automatics, and get pissed at me all you want, I used to be a VAG-fanboy and driver, but I gave up on it out off misery with their crap reliability, and yes I know how to drive and took perfectly care of the car, my mom's Audi A8 had crappy reliability aswell! Now I drive a Kia Cee'd SW GT-line and before that a Pro'ceed. Never had any problems with them so far.
I had taken the Ceed out for a test drive and was disappointed with the wind noise at 100kph. This is compared to my Skoda Octavia. I'm wondering was it just a fault with that particular car as I've heard that it's actually pretty quiet?
How could a major manufacturer with all its engineers get a modern gear change so wrong? Who signed it off? I agree about the design - for me it looks too generic also.
Honestly interior quality is worse than a golf 7 which is already 5 years on the market. Gear changes in a golf are really good and precise as well as steering. But the kia is still good for the price definitely.

EmopunkDr yes the interior is definitely not exciting but materials are good, built quality is great, all buttons and switches are where they should be. In general a very solid feeling. As usual, time will tell which interior stood the test of time.

Great car, especially the station car is really nice. But fuel consumption is poor as most smaller turbo engines. My Mazda 6 Sportbreak does 6 to 6,5 l per 100 km easy and is fast enough with 145 hp at just 1280 kg. But then again, for me the ride quality is more important so the new Ford Focus is on the shortlist as well.
Kia covers the components of a new Kia car for unlimited mileage up to 36 months, and for 100,000 miles between 37 and 84 months, from the date of first registration. Exceptions to this are: The battery - this is covered for 24 months The air conditioning refrigerant charge - this is also covered for 24 months Wheel balance and steering alignment - are covered for the first 1000 miles or one month Cracks in the exterior glass - are covered for the first 1000 miles or three months ------------------------------------------------------ That's it. How exactly does it suck? I'm getting my rear window replaced after 4 years for one of the heating wires not working. And I know they were also replacing front headlights and dashboards without any problems.
Well, the Ceed is a good car ... until you get something better :) If you have never driven/own a Golf, a A3, a S1, etc ... then you will be satisfied with the Ceed, but after the moment that you use a Golf (for instance) for a couple of week then you will know why the Golf sells 1 million car per year and the Ceed sells only 60000.
Exterior looks far better then interior and once you get inside - feel disappointed. Interior is more boooooring then golf. I wish Kia took over some of Peugeot or Honda interior "craziness" - cmbined with their exterior "more modern" looks they could be in the middle. Or maybe they are oriented in the marketshare of Golf buyers and do not want to risk.
peugeot 308 is literally the dullest car internio and exterior... whar are you on??? this car is wayyyy better than peugeot... much better looking and much better to drive
drove a previous generation ceed, and just horrible, way to high fuel consumption, cheap looking interior, weak engine, not efficient, i drove it like a granny and it spent over 6.5 L/100km.. ffs seriously.. Citroen C4 -gasoline version and you drive it normally and its below 5.5 easily.. you drive it like a granny its below 4.5 easily.. Golf, i drove it, the Golf 7, and its just soo well rounded, sorry but ceed doesn't come close, the gears, the clutch, the shifts of gears, precision, damping, everything, plus to all the haters-sorry-it does look good, very good.. Overall, i'd rather find an alternative to golf in a Focus..than Kia.. maybe even Hyundai i30-but then again i30 is same as kia, same parent company..
Focus and Golf are more expensive - especially on repairs at VW. Kia offers way more equipment for the same price and the interior is better looking in KIA than Ford and VW..b

Its funny how u use The Word granny but o well, Prev ceed u say, on papper this new gen says its 5,6l normal driving tho, so my guess would be 4,0-5,0l If driven like a granny or should we say Eco-drivning. Its all depends on roads and stuff aswell but yea I May can agree it has abit to high fuel consumption compered to cars in the same price range however check out audi a4 avant 2.0 tdi 150hp - 17 that is one hell of a car with just 4,0l normal driving.
yeah i think atmospheric engine not powerful enough without enough torque to make it drive economical, but i did drive the new ceed, same engine or maybe kia tweaked it a bit, so 100hp, atmospheric engine, and for small distance 12 km it will consume 7.5 l, ... but highway driving, and 20 minutes of driving at least and wow i was pleasantly surprised, i got to 5.6 l, and i was going up to 140 km/h on highway.. also pleasant noise of the engine.. problem is torque though, if you have family and will drive ppl inside car (it means 200 kg of weight plus baggage.. it won't overtake anything.. )) but very beautiful car indeed.. i look at prices though and i don't understand why volkswagen is supposed to be expensive..you get radar tempomat, you get this only in high end speced kia ceed (23.000 euroes), in golf you get it at 18.000 euroes already... for me Golf VII is cheaper and better.. although i prefer the shape of new kia ..
@@keepwalking6041 Tested this car with 1.4l turbo engine in last August and i drove 110km (about 15km trough city) and after that road where speed limit is 90km/h. And i got average 5.6l/100km. AC on and cruise control fixed to 95km/h + few overtakes... Ok, country where i live dont have much highways, usually speedlimit is 90km/h and not too much traffic on country so its pretty easy to get lower consuption.
I'm sorry - I don't like the Golf at all - but you're an ignorant if you think this Ceed has better interior quality than the Golf. Just like the Focus' selling point is the fun-to-drive factor, a Golf's selling point is its interior.
What the heck, that interior mark is no where near as stylish as a mk 7 or 7.5 golf mark, the seats sure but the rest I was hoping for a better looking dash area Kia this time it just looks like it’s straight out the Nero and kona parts bin

What Honda, toyota, or vw have you been driving that isn't just as dull, or more so than the kia? I think my 2014 Cadenza looks fantastic, and it makes just as few rattles as my previous A6...none.

How tf couldn't you put it in the right gear? I have the Ceed for 6 months and I have had not a single problem changing gears.

It was six years ago, so whatever I said in the review.
This was a brand new car, so it shouldn't have any mechanical issues. It was notchy.

It's mandatory if a manufacturer wantd to score high in Euro NCAP.

Nha, Golf will kill itself, with it's bad reliability, sh*tty engines and DSG-automatics, and get pissed at me all you want, I used to be a VAG-fanboy and driver, but I gave up on it out off misery with their crap reliability, and yes I know how to drive and took perfectly care of the car, my mom's Audi A8 had crappy reliability aswell! Now I drive a Kia Cee'd SW GT-line and before that a Pro'ceed. Never had any problems with them so far.

I had taken the Ceed out for a test drive and was disappointed with the wind noise at 100kph. This is compared to my Skoda Octavia. I'm wondering was it just a fault with that particular car as I've heard that it's actually pretty quiet?
How could a major manufacturer with all its engineers get a modern gear change so wrong? Who signed it off? I agree about the design - for me it looks too generic also.
Honestly interior quality is worse than a golf 7 which is already 5 years on the market. Gear changes in a golf are really good and precise as well as steering. But the kia is still good for the price definitely.
Vlatko.R I actually happened to drive a 2017 Golf one week ago. And guess what, I found the interiors surprisingly disappointing. To the point that I wondered what the fuss was about!
EmopunkDr yes the interior is definitely not exciting but materials are good, built quality is great, all buttons and switches are where they should be. In general a very solid feeling. As usual, time will tell which interior stood the test of time.
Vlatko.R I respect your opinion, friend. But trust me when I say that nowadays Golf interiors are no better than my 2005 (!) Skoda Fabia Elegance. And that's to say something!

Great car, especially the station car is really nice. But fuel consumption is poor as most smaller turbo engines. My Mazda 6 Sportbreak does 6 to 6,5 l per 100 km easy and is fast enough with 145 hp at just 1280 kg. But then again, for me the ride quality is more important so the new Ford Focus is on the shortlist as well.
Not a bad car but the new Focus looks better and offers more things than the Kia.
kamata93 I went to see the new focus two days ago. On the outside it's really nice. But the interiors.. OMG so cheap! Deal breaker for me!

That's it. How exactly does it suck? I'm getting my rear window replaced after 4 years for one of the heating wires not working. And I know they were also replacing front headlights and dashboards without any problems.

Well, the Ceed is a good car ... until you get something better :)
If you have never driven/own a Golf, a A3, a S1, etc ... then you will be satisfied with the Ceed, but after the moment that you use a Golf (for instance) for a couple of week then you will know why the Golf sells 1 million car per year and the Ceed sells only 60000.

Exterior looks far better then interior and once you get inside - feel disappointed. Interior is more boooooring then golf. I wish Kia took over some of Peugeot or Honda interior "craziness" - cmbined with their exterior "more modern" looks they could be in the middle. Or maybe they are oriented in the marketshare of Golf buyers and do not want to risk.
peugeot 308 is literally the dullest car internio and exterior... whar are you on??? this car is wayyyy better than peugeot... much better looking and much better to drive
drove a previous generation ceed, and just horrible, way to high fuel consumption, cheap looking interior, weak engine, not efficient, i drove it like a granny and it spent over 6.5 L/100km.. ffs seriously.. Citroen C4 -gasoline version and you drive it normally and its below 5.5 easily.. you drive it like a granny its below 4.5 easily..
Golf, i drove it, the Golf 7, and its just soo well rounded, sorry but ceed doesn't come close, the gears, the clutch, the shifts of gears, precision, damping, everything, plus to all the haters-sorry-it does look good, very good..
Overall, i'd rather find an alternative to golf in a Focus..than Kia.. maybe even Hyundai i30-but then again i30 is same as kia, same parent company..
Focus and Golf are more expensive - especially on repairs at VW.
Kia offers way more equipment for the same price and the interior is better looking in KIA than Ford and VW..b

Its funny how u use The Word granny but o well, Prev ceed u say, on papper this new gen says its 5,6l normal driving tho, so my guess would be 4,0-5,0l If driven like a granny or should we say Eco-drivning. Its all depends on roads and stuff aswell but yea I May can agree it has abit to high fuel consumption compered to cars in the same price range however check out audi a4 avant 2.0 tdi 150hp - 17 that is one hell of a car with just 4,0l normal driving.
yeah i think atmospheric engine not powerful enough without enough torque to make it drive economical, but i did drive the new ceed, same engine or maybe kia tweaked it a bit, so 100hp, atmospheric engine, and for small distance 12 km it will consume 7.5 l, ... but highway driving, and 20 minutes of driving at least and wow i was pleasantly surprised, i got to 5.6 l, and i was going up to 140 km/h on highway.. also pleasant noise of the engine..
problem is torque though, if you have family and will drive ppl inside car (it means 200 kg of weight plus baggage.. it won't overtake anything.. ))
but very beautiful car indeed.. i look at prices though and i don't understand why volkswagen is supposed to be expensive..you get radar tempomat, you get this only in high end speced kia ceed (23.000 euroes), in golf you get it at 18.000 euroes already...
for me Golf VII is cheaper and better.. although i prefer the shape of new kia ..
@@keepwalking6041 Tested this car with 1.4l turbo engine in last August and i drove 110km (about 15km trough city) and after that road where speed limit is 90km/h. And i got average 5.6l/100km. AC on and cruise control fixed to 95km/h + few overtakes... Ok, country where i live dont have much highways, usually speedlimit is 90km/h and not too much traffic on country so its pretty easy to get lower consuption.

I'm sorry - I don't like the Golf at all - but you're an ignorant if you think this Ceed has better interior quality than the Golf.
Just like the Focus' selling point is the fun-to-drive factor, a Golf's selling point is its interior.

Michael Simpkins my 2000 kia sportage interior isnt that bad. All doors and dashboard are soft touch and have held up well after 18 years

Is that why they are number 1 for quality? And what kia have you been test driving to come to that conclusion? What Honda, toyota, or vw have you been driving that isn't just as dull, or more so than the kia? I think my 2014 Cadenza looks fantastic, and it makes just as few rattles as my previous A6...none.
