This trailer makes you think that this is a happy movie but.. it one of the saddest movies ever, when I was a kid I was not prepared for this.

I remember I was like 5 or 6 when I saw this movie. This was the first movie I cried in and I remember being nearly inconsolable at the end.

Try watching Marley and Me. At the end I was crying like a little girl.
It is a sad movie towards the end, but I think the ending of Marley and Me gives it more of a run for its money. Marley & Me is not a boy and his dog movie much like My Dog Skip is, as it is also another movie based off the book, where Mmarley is adopted by a married couple as newlyweds.

my mum and dad bought me a jack Russell terrier back in 2001 just after we watched this film I was 10, I spent many happy years growing up in a farming village taking my patch everywhere I went, like willy I had few friends but I always had patch. he died in September 2014, he was my first son. he had a stroke at 11 years of age, I woke up the morning he passed grieving as I would if it was my child. I miss him every day

I never have dogs my whole 42 years of life (got dozens of cats though, also countless chickens several aquarium fish, a pair of bunnies and geese as pets in my childhood), but I love dogs and always appreciate dogs movies...truly moving and made me cry countless times. Hachiko, Marley and Me, My Dog Skip, Old Yeller, etc...I bawled like a baby every time, tissues please!!! 😭❤

I remember this movie 22 years ago, I loved it, and still do what a great story and film.
I have never got through this movie without crying.

R.I.P to my Nancy & Buster who I've lost this year. Nancy (aged 19) passed this
January and Buster (aged 14) passed August. You have taught me so much growing up and we've had such amazing years together, couldn't have been more thankful to have these dogs in my life while growing up. This film brings back so many memories of all the little adventures I'd take my dogs on :) such an awesome movie.

Best friend a Person could have !
I remember my mum coming home with this dvd and the only reason she bought it was because my dog was called Skipper. I related so much to the film because I'm a lonely, only child and when I was 6 my parents let me get Skipper to keep me company at home (and I'd asked for a dog for ages). I used to watch it all the time and cry every single time because I couldn't imagine my Skip leaving me. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to him 4 days ago as he had a brain haemorrhage which was caused by rat poison (which we don't use in our house so we're very confused). It was one of the hardest things ever and it still hasn't sank in yet. He was 10 years old and we were not expecting it, I was sure he'd be around for a few more years. When we were burying him, I played the theme music of this movie on my phone and we all cried so much.
Rest in peace little Skip, you were the best and I'll never forget you

I’ve seen this movie when I was in like Intermediate school, the movie is so emotional that it only has to be viewed once and never forget it in my opinion
If you have a dog or a pet in general, be prepared. This movie will hit you hard. I was enjoying the movie then a scene or two later I couldn't hold it anymore, as a grown man I started bawling. I don't want to spoil it but it is a great film to watch.
I know me too ! But I Practically lived this Movie Scene for Scene with my dog a Welsh terrier ! Back in 1963 ! I was 13 ! I am 71 now and it Kills me To watch !

filmed down the street from where I live, in my parents friends house. Sat on that front porch a few times myself. Not too often does Canton, Mississippi have bigger movies filmed in it, I remember this was the First movie to ever make me cry as a kid when we went to go see it.
This movie made me cry a lot back then I was 5years m, now I'm 13 and when I saw this I immediately realised that this is the movie that made me cry and once again I cried remembering how sad it was. This movie is truly the greatest sad movie I've seen back then

He might only be here for part of your life. But for him you are his whole life. Thinking about that is one way to make a grown man cry and I hate it when I cry. Especially in front of people. I always wanted a Jack Russel Terrier when I was a kid. Never did get one. Now I want a German Shepherd. That’s my #1 favorite breed. If I end up getting one I’m gonna name him Zeus. He’ll be my best friend. I like big to medium size dogs. They’re fun to play rough with. Our Golden Retriever is 15 yrs old. It’s getting hard for him to move. He can no longer go upstairs. Who knows how much longer he’s gonna last. When he was a pup his tail was deadly. If he hit you with it that would hurt for a few minutes. Over four years ago he had to have his tail cut off because something bit it and it swelled up real bad. Also when he was younger he always barked at helicopters which we call Ghetto Birds. Some funny times back then. We love you Roscoe.

I haven't seen this movie in like 20 years when I was in middle school. My class watched it and it was a good movie.
I saw this movie when I was very young and I loved. I wanted my own dog; had to look like Skip.
My parents tried to quench my thirst for a dog by giving me a little stuffed animal of Skip.
I slept with it every night, held it by its neck so all the beads sunk down to his gut.
I think I would cry with him, wanting a real dog.
Every Monday, because I had such horrendous allergies growing up, I’d have to go to the hospital and get three shots.
One Monday my mother, as she always did, picked up me up from school. We went home first, she probably needed to grab something before we went there.
When she got back she asked me if I’d rather go get three shots or a dog. I picked the three shots -no just kidding.
Went to the local vet and got the dog I’ll call P. She was beagleish, I think she may have had some pug in her. A puggle.
Within the first day my little sister fed P somewhat of a box/package of Andes chocolates.
Within a few days the little fucker had run off. She wound up back though.
Within this early period of my life with P I had thrown Skip to the wolves, well P to be more specific.
I had my own dog now, a real one. Like a sacrificial burning. I let P have her way with Skip but my mother was angry about this and took it away from P, returning me a limp-eared Skip.
I loved having a dog, but I wasn’t ready for it, none of us were. Just the wrong time in our family’s lives to get a dog.
She was quite mental and would scream all night, me and my little sister probably didn’t pull our weight as we were irresponsible little shitlings. Looking back on it, she had to go somewhere she could thrive.
While I was away at elementary school my mother gave P to a woman with multiple dogs who could give P a more suitable life. Y’know, I can’t remember how I reacted to this.
I probably cried, for I never knew of this and couldn’t say goodbye.
For the longest time I couldn’t stomach dogs emotionally. Every time I’d see one in film or UA-cam I either had to kind of stop paying attention, stop watching, or be somewhere alone and cry.
Though I wasn’t ready for the responsibilities which came with the happiness of owning a dog at least I was happy. Then, when I had achieved happiness, it was taken from me and I never got to say goodbye.
I’m not the most emotional person, however I can’t help but cry about it. I don’t know why, I’m 20. Sometimes I wonder if this happening at an early age somehow influenced how I developed mentally growing up, but that’s probably just me trying to give some rhyme or reason to why it all still makes me sad.
Back at home the family has had a new dog, have for a few years now.If anyone is being given away it’s my sister or dad, that house is in her paws.
I named my dog skip cause of this movie 💕
i named my dog after skip. He died a few years ago. he was the best dog ive ever Met and i know i will never meet another dog like him, it makese very sad.
I watched this movie two times, one by myself and the other with my father. At the end of the movie, my father ran to the bathroom and started to cry like a baby. Never ever saw my father crying like that.
I spent a couple of hours after reflecting this movie. And what i took is that a dog as a child can teach you alot and when there's nothing left to teach then it's job.

This movie inspired me to get a dog skipper looked like the friendliest smartest most loyal friend you could have so I got a rat terrier they are similar to Jack's just longer legs he was everything I could have hoped for but in the blink of an eye 18 years flew by and I lost him 2-1-2019 it destroyed me tonight I watched the movie and I knew it would be tough it reminded me so much of our friendship it was tough to watch I'll always love my skipper he will always be in my heart 💞
Last time i saw this coming on tv and i skipped it.. but next time it comes again.. i wont skip it ;)

My mom has told me my reaction when we first watched this. Apparently (as a 4 or 5 year old) I cried outloud, “why didn’t you tell me it ended this way!? I’m never going to watch a movie with a dog in it again!” 😂

If you've been having trouble getting to or staying asleep, I highly recommend this movie!
I saw this as a child when it came out, so at 3, and I don't remember anything about it besides being absolutely DISTRAUGHT. This movie is not for the faint of heart, and maybe don't show it to toddlers because it truly broke me, I think I sobbed all night after watching it
