  • The last scene from the movie "My Dog Skip".
"I recieved a trans-atlantic call one day. "Skip died", Daddy said. He and my mama wrapped him my baseball jacket. They buried him out under the elm tree, they said. That wasn't totally true. For he really lay buried in my heart."

You will also learn manipulative dog behavior when you spoil him rotten as a puppy. They ignore your commands, demand being petted, rubbed, and scratched, and play fake dog shame when you try to discipline them for chewing up EVERYTHING in the house, And won't listen to you unless you have food in your hand!!!

I saw this in a theater when it came out. Everyone in the place left the theater crying embarrassingly crying. Everyone was trying to hide their tears. This movie made me want to get a Jack Russell terrier. I got him. He's 11 now and dying of cancer. I'm hysterically crying. Loved this film. Love my Jack Russell.

I literally sobbed uncontrollably when I saw this again as an adult.
I didn't have hardly any friends through school except my little dog Hannah.
She sat next to me in my room through every emotion. I had whole conversations with her and she slept in my bed every night. Sometimes I still think I feel her little body cuddle next to me.
She passed away 2 days before my 18th birthday and I was inconsolable..
That's been almost 12 years ago.
I still have her toy rabbit in my room.
I'm gonna stop writing because I'm starting to tear up.
I miss you my little angel..

I'm not a big dog lover, but this scene just breaks my heart. Our animals are the most honest, loving, and loyal creatures. We had an old dog named Nacho who was just a mutt, but she defended us and played with us, waited for us and waited on us. I remember when my mother wrote to tell me the poor old girl had died from renal failure. I was in college and came home only for holidays and birthdays and summers. Oh how I miss that dog, and the times she represents. Thanks for posting.

OH.MY.GOD. This has to be one of the saddest movie endings I have ever seen. I also have a Jack Russell Terrier that I love with all my heart. She is 18 years old and I dont think she will make it to 19. Although she is still a lovable sweet doggie, I see the signs. She can no longer jump on or off the bed, she is losing her hearing and sometimes limps. She has been such a huge part of my life and it breaks my heart to think of her not being around. Tickle Biscuit I, too, have a little JRT. She turned twelve in May. Still has lots of energy, belting up and down the garden for her ball, pestering us to play when we're outside. She becomes tired quicker now, even though she'd play till her legs fall off. She's going grey, and she's blind in one eye. My Dog Skip will hurt ten times more when she's gone, even though she has a good few years left, hopefully. I hope your pup is doing good, give her a kiss for me x

I feel so sad watching this, leaving Skip behind...give me goosebumps and tears at the same time. All the thing he said is actually true for me. I have a jack russel and it feels like the best friend of my life. Everytime in the morning he so glad to see me and I go a walk with him and my other dog before i go to work. When i get home from the walk i see it in his eyes that he really want me to be there with him and have fun. I come home from work, the excitement and the happyness from both dogs makes me so happy. I just love them way to much. This video makes me happy and sad at the same time. Thanks for a awesome movie and a really good memorie for my life.

I have a Jack Russell named Kona, I too got her when I was eight. And I've been away for a while and only see her when I visit my dad, each time she's still just as jumpy and energetic and it warms my heart. Movies like this make me sad because I realize that Kona's time will come too and I don't want to receive the news over a phone call. She's always been there for me and I wish I could always be there for her

“ Once you invite that dog into our home, you invite the worst day of your life the worst day of your life when that dog passes” - my father 2003.
I’ll never forget you Spike. You were my first dog. You were there to comfort me when I broke up with my first love. You were there when I graduated high school. You were there after my first tired day from my first job. You kept me grounded. I never lost myself In my own dreams because of you.
Now I own my own home with a wife a two beautiful children.
I wish they knew you spike.
You were everything a boy could want from a dog.
    You were my best friend.
Last night I showed my children this movie.
They asked me if they could get a dog.
I don’t know if I’m ready to let go of your memory.
I just know I’m ready to give my children the same memories you gave me.
    Thank you spike.
I love you more than a boy could ever love a dog.

it's been about 15 years since our Terrier passed away similar to Skip. Terrier's are one of the most loving beautiful Dogs a person could ever have, full of energy and never boring. When she suddenly passed away it was heartbreaking for our family. We decided that was the last one, but the memories and those special moments are priceless.

This really hits home right now. I just had to put my best friend down last night. Like Skip, she was 11 and feeble with arthritis, I’ve never cried this much in my life. She pulled me through serious mental health conditions in my teenage years. She was my angel. I don’t know how to live without her, my heart is shattered.

We put our Jack Russell down a year ago today. He was 20 years old. This dog had been in my life since I was 3. I was 21 when he died, I remember this movie from middle school and I remember going home and hugging him, crying knowing he was going to go one day. Today is the anniversary and now I’m sobbing watching this scene and thinking of him. I miss him so much. This movie just put me in my feels hard tonight.

I watched it with my Shih Tzu pup when she was only 5 months old.
When it went off, I cried and hugged my dog because even as a kid I knew that such a day would come and it's inevitable.

I still think of her every day.

I understand this scene completely. I had a pet lovebird named Pleiades who just died. He was 12, and healthy and happy right up to his final half hour. I’m so glad I was there when he fell to the bottom of his cage. I reached in to grab him, and he was still breathing. He then just gave me this look of “Don’t be alarmed, I just feel a little sleepy that’s all”. I held him for 30 minutes and was holding him when he took his last breath. He didn’t seem like he was in pain when he passed which is good, but it’s still very hard for my family and I to go through.

I will always remember the dog of my childhood, waging her tail, barking with delight, jumping and scratching my legs when I got home from school, she would drink my soda, eat my icecreams, luck my toes in the summer and try to escape when I opened the door only to miss me and come back quickly, I learned to love and respect every other species thanks to her as a kid, and as an adult I learned to miss those days, every dog gives unconditional affection and makes a person connects with the innocence of a pure love, they're one of the best gifts of nature, they're just beautiful and perfect

I remember crying tears when i was a little boy and watched this movie. We soon after had our first dog and named him Skip. A jack russel. Months later we had a second dog named Eddie. A border collie. A week ago Eddie died and Skip is all alone now. Skip is now 14 years old and an old man. I owe these dogs so much. Its heartbreaking to think about he wont be with us someday.
This movie made me cry as a kid and as a 26 years old man.

The moment he said that he buried Skip under the tree in their yard, and he says it wasn't entirely true fore he was really buried in his heart, that's very much how it was with me in October 2nd, 2014, the day my dog Spot died. I sobbed over his lifeless body before I buried him.
Spot? I still love you. Everyday of my life, I miss you a lot. I'd give anything at all just to have you back in my life. But I know the Good Lord Himself has you up there with Him and that I will see you again when my time comes.
This just lets me know that Spot is really laid buried in my heart.

I had a black lab when I was 8 and he was the family dog and unfortunately we had to give him up when we moved to Worcester. In 1997 I lost my mother to a car accident when I was 13 and lived recklessly for 12 years and I just shut down. In 2009 I lost my grandfather and ended up in the hospital with a brain tumor a month later. This led me to self destruction and I was ready to give up living my life. Later that same year my little one was born and saved my life. He was the first born and only male out of 5 puppies and for over 12 years, he has given me purpose to live again. He truly is the best to ever happen to me and when his time comes, I will be right there next to him. I’ll hold onto his ashes and when I die, I’m to be cremated and have his ashes mixed with mine. I love him so much and more than anything and anyone else including myself in the universe because he taught me to give my heart again and to love unconditionally.
