- Slam poet Saul Williams recits from his book "The Dead Emcee Scrolls". Performed at a talk with composer Thomas Kessler. Salzburg Biennale, March 25th, 2011 at Atelier Bergstraße.
Saul has so much energy, those squares are frozen
The face of the woman next to him is all sensual awe. The guy on the other side is moved in another way. Interesting!
what i like is that hes spitting this in a place that you wouldnt commonly hear anything like that... the others around him are clearly uncomfortable... probly never heard him beofre OR anything like this from him before... especially the way it starts... hes the greatest

Y'all should watch the corresponding interview after this, it's great. And that woman actually knows more about his work than most of the people in this thread..

I sarcastically love all of the reverse racism within these comments. Anyway, I, a little WHITE girl, love his work. It's poetry...an art form meant to transcend race and hate...meant to present universal ideas which bond all types of people together. It's meant to address the negative ideas that many of you, as I see below, continue to perpetuate. Anyway, maybe I can watch some more videos and not feel so attacked...fuckers.

Race has nothing to do with this. Sauls words are about transcending race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. I'm disappointed by the number of people who are only impressed that he's the only black man in the room.

don't take it so personally. reverse racism really isn't such a big deal. not the same as actual institutionalized racism. if you listened to his lyrics long and hard maybe you'd realize this
This was a mockery of those people with that one single similar quality that qualified them as mother, God, those being entertained by this thoughts as deserving of mockery. He played a looking glass. They are not who they are. Provocation may induce seizures.
@paulmrussell12 they look rather uncomfortable, you have to remember saul is a poet unlike theyve ever seen... they probly frown upon "rap" or something too... the one lady has that awkward smirk the guy next to him just doesnt know what to think... idk just my opinion
My comment is gone. Didn't work. I'm not going to take the time to rewrite it, especially not in response to your comment. Just go look "reverse racism" up in the dictionary (it isn't a lying racist) before you give your own definitions and look dumb. I guess I'm just supposed to sit by and take hateful tongue lashings about my race, and it's okay because I'm white. If I stand up for myself against an African American person, then I'm automatically racist. Good thing I finally learned that.
