- The 2021 Edinburgh International Festival's 'A Toast to the People' series commissioned ten spoken word artists to write a piece inspired by Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson’s ‘A Toast to the People’. Here, Saul Williams performs their work 'A Toast To All The People' in James Court courtyard, hidden behind Edinburgh's Royal Mile.
Saul Williams is a poetry titan who has performed in over 30 countries, with invitations spanning from The Louvre to the Lincoln Center and Sydney Opera House. New York-based Williams has recorded with the likes of Nine Inch Nails and Allen Ginsburg and more recently released his latest music works, Encrypted & Vulnerable.
Saul teaches us, "don't try to raise your level of artistry to the level of another. Instead, elevate YOUR artistry to a height that YOUR ARE comfortable with. That way, we avoid meeting the expectations of others." Poetry is alive!
This man lives in tuned with the wind. The Sole(soul) living heir of air.
