- Here's a quick update on the current copyright situation.
The launch was a bit bumpy, but I think we're going into a safer and better era of music protection!

This is not terribly relevant to me, since I use your music almost exclusively to listen to with the occasional UA-cam embed to AO3. But I'm very glad you're getting proper credit now; I've always thought you're being incredibly generous making so much royalty free music. I'm glad you're getting the copyright sorted.

Completely understandable, and thank you for providing updates as often as you can!
We use your tracks in most of our videos ('Mysterious Adventure' is amazing for summarising last session), so adding correct accreditation is the least we can do for an artist that has helped elevate our videos.
We've always added credits to whomever we use (both in the description and in the outro), so hopefully no changes needed on our end, but if there are - sounds like it is easy enough to implement :)
Thank you again for all your hard work; your music is amazing and I hope that everyone who uses your tracks takes the (not very long) time to credit you correctly!

I probably have close to 200 videos with your music featured. There are only two that have issues. The reason for the two claims is "Metadata is hidden, as the content in question has not been made publicly available by its provider." The two songs in question are "Celtic Atmosphere" and "Slow Walk Into The Sunset". I have always put your name in my description box. I need to update all of them to the new website, however. I'll just wait it out, but wanted to report a reason for a claim that you might not be aware of.
These might be from The Orchard. I'll let you know when I have any updates.

I'm recording videos of a game that uses your music [ Medieval Merge - Tavern Loop One ]. It didn't occur to me that I should deal with the music credit rather than them.
So I just need to write Credit in the description under all my videos from the Medieval Merge game and it will be ok?

Hi Alexander, thanks so much for your updates regarding Copyright/Content ID for your music - it can be a quite stressful experience for content creators to deal with these fraudulent copyright claims. In that regard, we disputed a claim from "The Orchard Music, We Are Era Music BV" for your song Wintersong which we received around xmas - and it just got rejected. Now I read that you just heard back from them and that they would remove active claims - but I wonder if that will also apply to their rejected disputes? I'm hesitant to appeal the rejection as there could be consequences for our channel if they reject it again. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hey Pixelcave, thanks for reaching out. All claims from The Orchard are fraudulent. The ones from We Are Era Music, we can fix. If "Alexander Nakarada" is found in your video description, you shouldn't receive a claim. The launch was a bit buggy though, and some received claims anyway. I checked and while it lists both as copyright owner, the rejected dispute came from The Orchard, so I guess my only option is to appeal in this case. I hope they're not playing games and rejecting again - can they actually claim music, now that you added your music to Content ID? Again, thanks for you help and supporting creators - it must be a frustrating experience for you as well!
Yeah we're still trying to get those pieces claimed by the Orchard over to my new system. Which is why I really want this case to be resolved asap.... Right now we're missing about 100 songs @@Pixelcave
@@Pixelcave Hey Pixelcave, I'm in the same boat. It's also the track Wintersong. My dispute was rejected by Orchard, and after that I also got a claim from We Are Era Music. I'm going to wait and see if Alexander's label can remove the tracks from Orchard and then appeal the rejected dispute to get the video claim-free. I have the same thing with another video with the track Norður. I hope the Orchard issue gets resolved at some point, and I'll hold off on appealing until then to avoid any potential crap with Orchard as they will most likely reject it again.
@@Thund3rtheHunter Thanks for sharing, yeah, I'm waiting as well with the appeal - I wouldn't be surprised if The Orchard would reject it as well and I think they're quite a big company, so if I can avoid stress, I'd prefer it. I would say, once the Content ID from Alexander goes through, The Orchard should automatically loose all rights to the song - fingers crossed. In our case it's luckily a smaller video so they won't make any money on it. But yeah, in general, I'm sure these companies and other fake companies make a ton of money with these claims - they must, as there seem to be zero consequences and most people won't dare to fight back. I'll let you know if anything happens with our claim!

I have a question about the new system.
What happens to existing fraudulent claims from lets say Orchard that have already been rejected?
I have an active dispute with them, and another one that has been rejected. This rejected claim now has an additional claim from your new system, even though the credit is detailed and correct in the video description.
What should I do to solve this?

The Orchard is unrelated to the new system and the info in this video, unfortunately. That's an active fraudulent claim that I have to deal with separately. However, I just heard back from them, and they're finally on the way to fixing it and removing their active claims!

Hi Alexander. I recently started using some of your songs in my UA-cam videos recently. I've downloaded them from Creatorchords and copied/pasted the credits in my descriptions. The claims are made by Polaris Hub AB and there have been claims against 3 songs: Adventure, Forest Walk, and most recently Now We Ride (metal version). This claim is different it seems from We Are Era that you've mentioned, so I just wanted to know if there was an update since I just now found this video 3 months after it was posted. Cheers!

Hi, I've been using your music for quite sometime and I always credit you as mentioned in your music. Yesterday my podcast got uploaded onto UA-cam. It was on Spotify and other platforms until now. In some of the videos I got a copyright notification. It says "We Are Era Music BV On behalf of: Alexander Nakarada". It does say that the owners allows the usage of this music but if I join the UA-cam partner program it might be an issue. Can you please suggest what to do? Also, it's not the entire episode, just a few seconds.
Hey! The only way to receive claims from We Are Era is to forget adding credits. They are actually scanning the description to see if credit is included (if the video includes my music) and places a claim if they can't find any.
My best advice is to just make sure that the claimed video has my name and website/youtube in the description (must be in the description, not the video itself) and then dispute it. Then the claim should go away rather quickly :)
@@anakarada Can you please tell me which option do I use to dispute the claim? License or Copyright exception such as fair use?

Love your music that I accompany my art with it. Provide you credit both in the video and on my websites. Continue to get copyright claim. Submit info only to appeal. Have too many videos for this to keep happening with. Don't know what the issue is but all this hassle has me regretting using your music if I now have to backlog and spend time submitted to youtube forms. I get why you are doing what you are doing, but letting you know no system is perfect. Will make better choices in the future with music choice after this whole debacle.

Are you receiving claims from The Orchard, or We Are Era Music BV?
Most I recall are from We Are Era Music, just double went through all claims ensuring all credit was provided. Plan on going through other videos not yet to put off future hassle.
I use your music and credit you. So far I've never had any troubles. Perhaps you've already white listed me. In any case, I love what you do and your music works well with my Valheim videos.
In the end it was a video that got to me and I didn't know at the time that "We Are Era, BV" was connected to you. I rather thought it was another stupid claimer. Yikes.
I actually credited it correctly, but since the whole thing happened in 2023, maybe it didn't go perfectly. Who knows. Otherwise everything went wonderfully so far.
Spot on, the transition into the new system was pretty unsmooth, but we're working on fixing it!
One thing that's a little confusing is that even though "copyright free" is not a thing, your Patreon states "No Copyrights: All the music is royalty free and holds no copyright. You can safely use the music for anything." That's not true, though. The music has a copyright, and you have terms that are contrary to "use the music for anything". Using the music "for anything" would be similar to public domain, where someone could repackage and republish the music without attributing the author.
That is true. The main reason for this is that I started this "business" or whatever you should call it, knowing extremely little about the industry, copyright and everything else related to it. I just wanted to release music that people could use. That of course, reflects my terminology and choice of words in different places.
99.9% of the people using my music is solely using it as background music for their content, which is totally fine. If people think they can take my music, change the title and reupload it as their own, I would call that ultimate stupidity. But I'm still evolving, and learning, and changing my terms to make it more clear.
@@anakarada Yes, I think you could definitely remove those statements to make it clearer, especially if you ever need to litigate against someone. Claiming that your music holds no copyrights is not doing you any favors.
