    My issue with this with Copyright music thing is it should only apply if the content creator intends on making money off of their videos that may have a track that was not made by them. If you have users who just make videos and aren't doing it for profit, it should be okay. I can't count how many times back in the early days of youtube how much music I was introduced to from people who did that for their videos.

    • @spencerwcp
      @spencerwcp 5 місяців тому +10

      I agree but, that's too hard to track. It's just easier to copyright and have to ask for permission/pay for it. There not gonna be able to check up to make sure everyone who uses it isn't monetizing. Plus you can still attract attention and views without monetizing and therefore profiting even if not financially for THAT video. It is what it is

      Does the ''it counts if the content creator intends to make money'' also count when a content creator has, say, an hour long video in which he/she does a playthrough/walkthrough of a game and there's only severa; short instances of a song being used, not the entire song or if it's like a beat in the background of a video?

    There are a surprising amount of bands that are OK with people using portions of their music without permission. A good way to tell the difference is to look for things they have done in the past regarding copyright. A good indicator is which side of the Napster argument they were on. Bands that liked Napster & see file sharing as a way to reach more people, often are OK with their music being used. It may also depend on whether or not you plan to monetize the video. I don't monetize.

Just back it up on Odysee so if UA-cam takes it down, it can still be watched. If UA-cam is your job, the best thing to do is play your own music or pay a starving artist to do it for you. I have two copyright claims in the last 2 days. Today, after I had a copyright claim I removed it and then synced it to actual music you can play on shorts for UA-cam. In which case there's thousands upon thousands of artists and songs. Bingo. No claim for Eve 6 Promise song.
    It may be a pain in the butt to sync it where you're actually singing the song to, but if you're doing 60 seconds or less it's not really that much of a hindrance.
    So whatever you do don't sit in your car using Spotify and try to upload it because you will end up getting the claim, but I'd you use UA-cam music to put on your short that you're singing to you will be just fine😊

    Thanks for the info Lila - I'm completely new to this. I've uploaded two vlogs and used non-copyright music on both, but I can't find anything that suits the type of videos I'll be doing. I'm 62 and my vlogs are aimed for people in my demographic. Without using snippets from copyrighted music, nothing I find seems to work. Sadly Lick'd had nothing that will suit. Hopefully one day I'd like to be monetised so, it looks as though I'm going to end up using music that won't fit my videos, especially since as Music plays a big part of my life.

I don't get strikes for the unused videos, but some of my videos have gotten blocked on UA-cam. Essentially, I can't upload the video or I'll be the only one who can see it. Some songs on my channel, hardly anyone has heard of, and some are really hard to find. I wish there was an easy way to use them. My channel isn't even monetized, so I'm not even making money from these videos. I don't even claim the songs as my own, I always credit the singer, youtuber channel, original music video, anything I can to give them all the credit. It's so hard to do my type of content in these days.

      We might be able to help with this one - The best way to do this is to make sure you have a valid license for each song you play in your video. We then recommend playing the downloaded recording of the song over your clips as opposed to the live recording as this prevents Content ID incorrectly claiming potential versions of a track you’ve not used!

    As a dj posting dj pov content. That would get expensive quick. I am pretty much not concerned with earning through Adsense. My channel is currently growing rapidly but my content contains copyrighted music. Lots of it. And I do not wish to steal anything from the artists I showcase. Instead, I understand leverage. I know youtube is paying these copyright holders on my behalf. And also. I know I am helping market the gear I am using in the video. If I focus on growing my channel. I can contact the companies products I am using and show them the exposure I am giving them. If they dont want to negotiate a partnership then I will simply stop using their products in my video. And they lose free advertising. Once I find the companies that want to partner. Now I have the money to license the music I play on my channel, now youtube is paying me too. Now I can contact the copyright holders themselves and try to enter partnerships with them to showcase only their music. Then they start paying me.
    Its all about leverage. Which is what the adsense program is based on. You dont get paid for being popular. You get paid for being valuable. Remember that.

    I’ve been looking for an audio library that has access to “Rap God” does Lickd have it. I was looking on Lickd earlier today and could not find it. In this specific instance I want to use a section of the beat for a clip in a video.

    Is it ok to use copyright music and not earn any money but still have the video up

    Does it only work for one video or could I buy a license to use part of one song as a theme for a channel?
