- The story of the Churchill series started in 1940. In the summer of that year, the Brits found themselves in a very tight spot: they were pushed out of the Continent, and Britain was facing the threat of invasion by sea. Lots of vehicles were lost in Europe, and the British desperately needed tanks in case Germany would follow through with their threat of Operation Sea Lion. The British top brass weren’t happy with the idea of recouping losses with old models alone; they wanted a new tank. The specifications for a brand new vehicle were eventually given to Vauxhall Motors - despite the fact that the company had never assembled tanks before.

My favourite Churchill was Winston. He had at least 300mm of frontal armour(belly) and his main gun (cigar) was always smoking.

Being someone who works on modern British tanks I can confirm all british frontline vehicles are equipped with a BV (Boiling Vessel) Vehicles fitted with the BV include Challenger 2 tanks, MAN trucks, and Warrior, Warthog, Mastiff, Jackal and Foxhound armoured fighting vehicles, and earlier CVR(T) and CVR(W) vehicles

I haven’t used the Black Prince in war thunder ever since I realised that it’s pretty worthless at 6.0
Gaijin is so disconected with the community. I'm sure they don't even play their own game. This would explain why they don't fix anything.
I've literally never seen a black prince in game.
I own it, stats on card may fool but its pretty solid even at 6.0 surprisingly. Could be better if she got lower BR tho
Ariq Rahm It was one of my first premium vehicles, it’s okay, just it’s so slow, and at 6.0 has no real advantage the 17 pounder is lack lustre vs Tiger 2, 152mm armour is nothing at 6.3-6.7 (when you angle it’s okay, but by the time you get anywhere the enemy’s have already secured all the good firing positions or your friendlies have already destroyed everyone so you win doing almost nothing on some maps)
@@jordanspence7789 one time my BP withstand like 3 shots from Maus' 128mm and doin just fine. 17p was pretty ok tbh since she got APDS instead. Yeah the mobility is troublesome and sometimes you win without doin anything at larger maps especially the cargo. Still its one of my favorite premium and still doing well dealing with 6.7/7 vehicles (being UK is a major advantage since the most well armored vehicles at the BR are US)

@@topace1038 Probably because of a joke that Winston Churchill made about the AVRE Churchill. After the AVRE trials, Churchill said "It was so useless in trials that they named it after me." These tank trials were for combat tanks not an engineer tank.

My Grandfather was involved in the work on the Churchill, I remember him telling me they changed the doors on the side from square to rounded edges as the corners would break under impact even if the shell did not penetrate.
They wondered how the Battleships doors did not have the same problem even when facing greater fire power. Then they noted the curve on them.
Neat story, the round doors really add to the land ship look and feel of a Churchill.
My great grandfather was an engineer for spitfires.
He didn't live long enough to tell me anything about it.

The churchill has a slow hull turn rate so the engine area will go slowly but since your tank is faster and more agile, you can 100% damage a churchill

I love the Churchills and was very glad to see this video come out- but the hull MG still doesn't work, and only serves as an annoying weak point. Gaijin pls fix? Also Churchill AVRE when?
They should allow us to use every tank's hull MGs.

@@Scrump_Can Tbh the churchill crocodile wouldn't be very good at all in game. The flamethrower would see reasonable utility against unarmoured vehicles and against the rear of tanks with petrol engines, but it would do almost nothing to enemy tanks in game since optics don't affect visibility. It was great IRL at fighting and terrifying infantry, notably causing a lot of German infantry to surrender. But overall the rear fuel tank would slow the Churchill down even more and may even pose a threat to the Churchill if it is hit. The AVRE on the other hand has a 230mm mortar. It would be the biggest (highest diameter) tank gun in the game. Who doesn't want to launch 'flying dustbins' at the enemy?
Overall the Mk-III was the pinnacle of the tree, and most fun. Angled it could still take hits, and fire decently. I literaly helf down an entire flank solo with one early on when brit ground forces came out, killing 9 tanks.
Demose Aries I didn’t do so well in the Mk III the VII on the other hand I love it’s such a beast. Has no trouble taking fire from German 88 when angled slightly. On the other hand I can’t penetrate them either so it always turns into an awkward stalemate.

The smoke machine (Mk1) great armor and alot of smoke to cover the way to get close with its turret gun (25 shells for turret, 25 smoke for big gun)

Hope to see a few more Churchill tanks. There are still many that can be added. That will be useful and fun in the game. Like Churchill NA 75. A Churchill with a US 75 mm M3 gun. Churchill Mk. V close support, with a 95 mm (3.74 in) howitzer. Or a Mk.VII close support, 95 mm/3.74 in howitzer. And Churchill AVRE :)
Kind of wish you add at least 3 other Churchill’s. Either the Mk V or VIII with the 95mm, the Churchill Mk IV NA 75, a Mk IV with the mantlet and gun of a early Sherman; and the Churchill AVRE with a 290 mm Petard mortar, it has extremely limited range but I think it would be fun to add

American tanks are disgusting.... German is the best but aren't allowed to win against these insekt tanks
@@deg6788 well in my opinion, between Pz IV and M4 Sherman, both are easily popped by each other, but in term of overall gameplay, I'd favor the Sherman because of their mobility and stabilizer
-- while the gun on Pz IV are easy to use, plus the add-on armor on the Pz IV is just so trolly that it's not even funny anymore
Why American Sherman? My combo is Churchill Mk7 on front with squad mate Firefly in the rear.

A43 would actually be worth using at 5.3 or 5.7. Both the gun and armour is that of 4.7 tanks. And it slower than a 4.7 too.
It would also actually be used a lot then, the thing is extremely rare right now.
Churchill Mk VII but with the 57mm would be great. Armor plus a punchy gun. The 75mm on the Mk VII can't pen jack at 4.7 or 5.7 if you get pushed up.

@@NS-gy3jr i never expected to see a reply after a year but yeah i know the 3’s is at is br you can get kill and you are almost an impenetrable fortress if you angle correctly or dont face a kv and 7’s yes you get shot more easily but still need to angle but you cannot one shot most things unless from the sides or you are facing lights mostly are assists or the enemy is weak enough to kill it

I really wish it was turned into a free tank, seeing that very few people have it, and it could be an awesome stop gap between the later heavy.

Me whos seen 1 black prince in the past 4 years.
I played the first 3 Churchill's and they're nothing like what the video states. The mark 3 can't pen a tiger unless you hit it in the drivers view port but a lot of tanks can do that. Penetrate is going through armor and not a view port. Plus their armor is still weak even in the first version. Yeah it can bounce but people still blow right through the thickest part at the same BR

Churchills are cool to play. Im a very aggressive player type and the thick armour helps me surving a charge attack. I only have the Mk1 and Mk3, but im in love with both of them. Though the mk1 is incredibly underpowered for its battle rating. At least the Char b1 has APHE rounds for the hull gun. I just sit in front of enemys with two pea shooters. Is this wanted so people equip the smoke rounds more often and therefore support their team?

It was not that fast because it was not designed too, the churchill was an infantry tank, designed too support infantry, wich cant move at 40kph, the brithis had the cruiser tanks for fast movement like the crusader or cromwell

Pretty sure the Churchills that were captured by the Germans at Dieppe were the Mk.1 Variants with the 3inch howitzer in the hull as their is photos of them all over the place, not sure they'd of sent the mk.3 variant so that information is wrong.
