    Very nice video production of rebuilding the D25. In my rebuild (1958 CJ5), I used axle shafts out of a Dana 27 (u-joints). I also added studs in place of bolts on the spindles. That was about 20 years ago. I run 33x10.50 15s tires and so far the D25 has held up to light to medium rock crawling. Thanks again for the excellent video!

      Thanks Barry! I debating doing the stud upgrade but settled on some grade 8 bolts. I'm going to run factory size tires and not too much rock crawing for this Jeep.

    Excellent video . Question when you install the locker hubs , do you install the snap ring on the axle shaft grove to avoid movement on the shaft

    I had a problem achieving 12@16 pounds, to achieve them I had a lot of positive camber, I ended up with 8 shims at the top

      When I was pulling the parts out I was asking "what is this?" 😄

    Great video- Thanks I'm working on a 47 2A. What do you think was the ratio of grease and oil in your "concoction"? and did you use grease and oil from the same manufacturer?

    Get rid of the bendix joint and upgrade to the spicer joint

    Hey I have two Jeep Willys axles. Is there a way of knowing which kit I need to repair them?

    How did you fit the RR Locking Hubs on Bendix axles? Assume you cut threads off? Heard that was not a good way to go. Have you had any issues if in fact that is what you did? I want to put on Lockouts on my Dana 25 but assumed the best way was change axles. Good Video. Thanks

      Hi Timothy, from what I've seen in other videos I guess there are two styles of Benix axle shafts, one with the threads and one without the threads. My shafts did not have threads and are held in place by the bronze bushings that are in the spindle. I guess the ones with the threads don't have those bushings. I think the channel "MetalShaper" has a good video where he describes the difference in axle shafts.

    Nice Work!,, those axle/jack stands you have are beefy, are they home made?

    • @thelarsongarage
      @thelarsongarage  2 роки тому

      Thanks Matt! Yeah they come in handy quite often. No not home made, we picked them up when we got the lift a few years back. I can't remember the brand offhand.

    Watching from Philippines 🇵🇭..good job....what ratio of your differential you have??

    • @thelarsongarage
      @thelarsongarage  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching Jeffrey! This Jeep has the factory option 5:38 gears

    • @jeffreydeanching2307
      @jeffreydeanching2307 2 роки тому

      That's good, but if there is 4.8 ratio that's nice for the fuel consumption, lots of Filipinos knows that engine flat head big deal in gas...a little bit high speed than 843 👍😁 because the transmission is has 3rd gear 😁

    • @thelarsongarage
      @thelarsongarage  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah the 5:38 gears are definitely low considering the small tires and lack of overdrive from the factory (I'll be addressing that once we get the transfer case rebuilt)
      I'll mostly just use the Jeep around town so I'm not too concerned about the gas consumption

    With the bendix axle a bolt must be used in the axle end , did you fit it

    • @thelarsongarage
      @thelarsongarage  2 роки тому

      There was a roll pin on the axle side that held the dowel pin up that the center ball sits on. Is that what you're talking about. Or did I miss something during the install? 🤔

    What’s the recourse if I can only get 8 pads of preload without any shims?

    • @thelarsongarage
      @thelarsongarage  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Joey, based upon normal wear and tear or slightly different dimensions of replacement parts it's not uncommon for that to happen. It just means the bearing needs to be pushed in further. Try to find a thin washer that you can install between the bearing and the top kingpin to put more preload on the bearings.
