Thanks for checking out this song. It gets overlooked by a lot of reactors, who tend to focus more on REO's later power ballad material. Anything off the live album "You Get What You Play For" is good, and you might also like "Back on the Road Again", which was sung by the bassist Bruce Hall instead of by Kevin Cronin.
They also had the best album name: You Can Tune A Piano But You Can't Tune A Fish
Back on the road again is one of my all time ( volume at max ) car driving tunes.

Totally agree with you about Gary. He remains one of the most underrated guitarists of the rock era. I truly missed seeing him the last couple of times I got to see R.E.O. live.

This is R.E.O. about 4-5 years before their "Hi-Infidelity" album came out. This is the R.E.O. that I fell in love with before it was cool to love R.E.O.😅

This is good ole fashioned mid American rock and roll before REO got schmaltzy and ballad heavy in the 80s. These guys were from the corn fields of mid state Illinois and were huge in the midwest in the early and mid 70s. You guys should react to:

REO -- so many terrific tunes. Keep Pushin is a great one. I also like: Ridin' the Storm Out (live), Golden Country, Don't Let Him Go, Roll with the Changes, Take It On the Run. They have a TON of great material. They were often overshadowed by bigger bands like Styx, Queen, and Journey.
LIVE version even Better! Great stuff....Gary Richrath amazing guitarist! Although I heard he was a "Human Hoover" with the cocaine haha..

Great live band
I hate to be this way, but if you're going to do REO you've got to do songs from the album Live: You Get What You Play For. It captures their sound during this time that they were a kick-ass rock & roll live band far better than these early studio recordings, and they were a much better band then, when Gary Richrath was tearing it up on his guitar and Kevin Cronin was belting it out, than they were later on when he was ballading for radio dollars.

REO Speedwagon a hard driving Rock n Roll band from the Midwest. Their 70s material is harder Rock, & in the 80s they were probably best known for their Power Ballads. Check out " Ridin the Storm Out " (LIVE VERSION) & Keep on Rolling, plus Time For Me To Fly from the album You Can Tune a Piano But You Can't Tune a Fish. I saw them open for Aerosmith in 76 & they blew them off the stage. ( Aerosmith drug days & they later redeemed themselves when I saw them in the 90s ).
It would be great if you could check out 'Being Kind Can Hurt Someone' from their live album.....You Get What You Play For. Incredible song that showcases their incredible song writing and guitar work.

Well hello all. I just got here and was looking through the play list of reactions. What a journey, great spread of work covered. I would like to throw out a couple of bands from Canada. We will start with two bands. First a band that started back in 69', and was a force through to the 90'. April Wine, great band and I suggest trying out the song Roller. Next, is a band that only truly was popular in Canada, as they wrote all their songs about Canada or cultural insight. The Tragedy Hip, New Orleans is Sinking. Just like the way you folks do your reviews, you both have a great ear and understanding of how good music is put together. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Again, their first 6 albums are really good rock and roll albums! I’m a fan. They were a blues boogie woogie band and they were really good till they hit their 80s soft music which was that’s when when they made their money!

Hello fellas, here's a live performance of another one of REO Speedwagon's songs, if interested. "REO Speedwagon - Take It On The Run (Live)" --this song was released on their nineth studio album called "Hi Infidelity" which was released in 1980. The song was written by lead guitarist Gary Richrath and was a huge hit. This album contained 4 US Top 40 hits and sold more than 10 million copies. This was a fun reaction.

There is so much good REO Speedwagon from this era. When it comes to the ballads that they get into later in their career I gave up on them.

Funny this one came up today, I've been wearing my REO Speedwagon concert t shirt all day...great live band too! They have more hits than you can shake a stick at!
REO Speedwagon definitely was a memorable great concert. The one time I went. My girlfriend at the time was an aspiring groupie of REO Speedwagon. She may have gone on to be one. She wasn't around next semester at college. Post card in the mail years later. About 3 girlfriends later.

Yeah, this could’ve used a couple more overdubs on those guitar riffs. It’s always sounded a bit thin to me.
The problem may have just been the studio, or the equipment, cause I’ve definitely heard them sound a lot thicker, even live.
