You're extremely well spoken, coherent, and probably really intelligent. Thanks for the vid man!
Thank you so much! You should see the hours of footage that gets edited out. It's not so intelligent. God bless!
Average Jack Archery lol you should make a blooper video for us
Average Jack Archery Jack, I just got a left over Bear authority at a bomb ass price. I'm stoked, but I'd like advice on arrow picks.
Bro stutters and stumbles over multiple words in the first 1:30minutes. And you act like this guy is nearly a genius. God the internet is easily impressed.
I love how you break everything down dummy style for people like me. I know nothing about bows but have lately been looking into it a bunch. I get bunch of my knowledge on archery from you so keep it up. Thanks
Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older. But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.
I've been looking to get into archery for a while but didn't know what to look for and you have really opened my eyes to the sport. Thanks you for making such a in depth video and giving some good tips and tricks. Subscribed for sure :)
Great vid and info. We pay around $13 to $15 for arrows in Australia. As usual , we get ripped off here.
Thanks again and cheers mate !
Great video. Exactly what I was looking for.
Great job.
Great video! Thank you for the information, I'm hoping to get my first bow this year. Will definitely watch more of your videos.
That's a killer video man really informative and easy to understand! Just bought my first bow today and I am stoked to try and take down an elk in a few months! I better get practicing!
I appreciate your honesty and knowledge of tips.
Thank you very much. Your video literally answered every question I had, and some I hadn't even thought up yet. :)
You do a great job and service with your videos. Thanks and keep them coming.
Thank you! This was extremely helpful and stopped me from taking some bad advice from a friend of mine. Great job!
I watched your video about grip torque this mourning. I’ve struggled with consistency with my arrows for a while now. I tried some of your suggestions and I was amazed my arrows were flying like darts. Thank you
So glad I stumbled across your channel. Subbed and liked. I'm getting into archery and this was extremely helpful. Thanks a lot!
Nic info. It's great someone is providing great info for the average person and not pushing the high end stuff most people can't afford.
Great job! Fantastic information, delivered perfectly!
finally somebody who keeps it simple for us newbies. great informative video on getting into the sport.
Great video. Made a huge difference in my bow choice. Picked up a Hoyt powermax today thanks to you. I really appreciate the help!
Timothy Avery Glad I could be of assistance!!!
Im searching since an hour for a good video. And now i finally found it!
Thank for the amazon tip. This will save me alot of money!
Very nice video!
Thanks this helped a lot! I live in PA too!
I have found your videos very informative. They have been very helpful in trying to make my voyage into the sport more successful. Thank you for posting them. I am just getting into the sport of bow hunting. I have always wanted to but just never had the time. I was looking at spending $500-800 on a mainline bow. I did a lot of reading and research about comparisons and reviews and I went to test some bows I went into it thinking I would probably choose a PSE Bruteforce/Bowmadness or a Hoyt Powermax probably sometime in the spring. I ended up buying a Diamond Deploy that same day. It wasn't even a bow on my radar until I started shooting. I shot it after shooting all the others and said this is my new bow, lol.
Thanks for posting these videos. My son (he's 11) shoots and took silver at Saskatchewan Provincials last weekend with a Quest Radical. I'm hoping to get myself a bow when funds allow just so he can teach me and shoot with him. You're videos have a lot of unbiased information, and you don't come across as cocky yet sound knowledgeable, which makes for a decent viewing experience. I'm glad I found your channel this morning.
I just bought my first bow about a month and half ago and I love it! It's a (hoyt) reflex -excursion with trophy ridge whisker biscuit, extreme multi pin sight, true fire release, 11 high grade arrows, and case for got it all for $150 off of ebay.
Great video. The only piece of advice I would say about buying used bows is to watch the age. If the draw length has to be adjusted by changing cams and the poundage by changing limbs you might not want to get anything over about 5 years old. Tuning parts get scarce pretty quick because the market changes so fast. The prices also tend to go up for the parts because they are scarce. I spent about a year trying to find some reasonably priced cams for an Elite Answer bow I bought. The Answer actually changed cams during the lifetime of the series so you have to watch that too. I also recommend get entire setups (bow, case, arrows, rest release etc.) Sometimes you can find a fully set up and tuned bow ready to shoot for much cheaper than you can put it together piece meal.
wonderful viideo. you are a great instructor. very helpful as i am intending to purchase my first bow. Good Job man!
Thank you and best of luck!
Still super relevant, brother! I’m a Louisianan living in the mountains of Germany with no bow shops around. Great info!
All of your videos are great. Thank you for catering to the novice. I'm a long time gun hunter that wants to extend my season and your videos have been very helpful in picking out a bow. The only downside are your Penn State sweaters (Penguins are OK though). OSU! On the flip side: wish I could use a real rifle in OH like you can in PA. Great stuff! Keep it up.
Great video, it was alot of help for me when I got my new bow
thanks man. this really helped me get started.
I just stumbled upon this old gem. LOL. You have come a long way buddy.
Isn't it hilarious?! To think folks listened to that rambling buffoon.
Great video. Good luck out there and stay safe.
These are truly great videos. As a beginner I really appreciate you taking the time to do this.
The pleasure is definitely all mine. Glad I could help another novice get into the sport!
great job , thanks for a tips
When I was looking for a video to watch on this topic, totally picked this one because of the Penguins hoodie 👍🏼🐧
awesome video sir.. very helpful to the would be hobbyists.
i bought my first compound bow on black friday this year. its the bear archery authority :) gonna set it up for 45lbs or maybe a little more depending on how i feel when i bring it to my bow tech to get setup
I'm glad I watched this b4 I went shoping. Cheers mate
Great video. I’ve had my Craigslist bow for quite sometime now. Point Blank The New Wave is my bow now. looking forward to a Bear Cruzer G2 bow in the near future
Thank you for the great video.
Your a ton of help, great explanation for everything I want to know.....you got another sub from me and I will be watching all your video's !
Possibly the best introduction to compounds I have seen.
Great work mate.
Seth Greenhill Thanks so much! God bless.
Thank you for this video. In the next couple of months, I want to buy a bow and arrow set. -a fan who shared in Chicago!
+hala4252 Thanks so much! Best of luck with your jump into the world of archery. God Bless.
Great video, keep making more.
im getting the infinite edge pro and its really smooth with a solid back wall
Great Job!
So helpful thanks so much 😄
Thanks great info
Thx for the info !!!
I have watched a number of your videos the last couple of days and really like your approach. I suffer from an extremely long draw length, 32. The first Pro Shop i went into after getting over my draw length, trotted out a $1,200 Hyott. I understand there are a limited number of long draw bows, but have started looking at used and older models. Bear Attitude is one i'm considering. Thanks for the effort.
Chuck Holton For those super long draw lengths Bear has definitely been the front runner. Good find!
Really enjoying the videos. Been out of archery for a lonnnnggg time and I'm looking to buy a used bow. These videos have been extremely helpful. If I could suggest one thing, if you can put links to the products you speak to in each of your videos it would help your viewers. Maybe not even links, just the product names would be even more helpful. Again, great videos.
Thank you for sharing ✅
Great info--thanks for taking the time to share your expertise. Minor suggestion: explain difference between "left hand" and "right hand" bows. I'm such an amateur, I wasn't sure which one I would need.
Jim Ru Normally a right handed person shoots a right handed bow. The bow itself is held in the left hand and drawn with the right. All the inverse is true for lefties. :)
great video. you helped me learn alot. Thankyou
Finally a Hoyt hat and a Penguins jersey!!! LOL I love my buddies elite though! Definitely on my radar. Picking up a infinite edge for my 10yo son tomorrow.
Sometimes buying it sooner rather than later helps. I got my green diamond prism for around 270-290 bucks, it was later raised to 349 by Lancaster Archery Supply...and that happened in 1 or 2 months...
Thank you brother
Very impressed! Just subscribed.
Great video, very informative, hey so on an unrelated topic, i'm looking for some advice on elk hunting in PA, i have no idea or even know anyone there, and so you mentioned you live in PA. i was hoping if you could give a few pointers with a fellow avid bow hunter. Thank you very much
Also from Central PA. After shooting 2 used bows, I am buying my first new bow soon. Your thoughts on a PSE Stinger vs. the Hoyt Powermax? I have shot both and find them to have a very smooth draw. Thank you.
there are also cam and 1/2 bows that are slightly different than dual cam bows. they have a bus cable and a control cable while dual cams have two bus cables and not control cable i believe. also binary cam is not the same as dual cam and binary cams i believe are similar to cam and 1/2 in the two cams are slaved together but different system
Yeah , great info
Hi , what do you think about the Centerpoint Crosman eos hunter? Is it good compound bow? because here where I live is the only option I have. Thank you.
I like your channel, it's very interesting. Very good vids.
Thanks for the video bru
I love old bows that are unique like a golden eagle or Oneida eagle .
Very informative thank you
You are most welcome! God bless.
nice job, excellent video
Thanks man!!!!... subscribed!!!
Hit the like button for the pens hoodie alone, good info thanks dude.
Great video 👍
Hey man,
Thank you very much for all your videos and tips. I've been doing a ton of research as of late because I really want to get into the world of archery. I'm currently stumped on which bow to buy. I've looked at infinite edge, pse stinger x, a number of Bear bows, and of course Hoyt. I'm looking to get into hunting eventually but for now just target shooting. Any advice? Also, I'm left handed.. which i'm finding that left handed bows seem to be more expensive on ebay for some reason. Thanks!
Ah, the curse of being left handed! If my shooting coach when I was younger hadn't discovered my right-eye-dominance while I was shooting left handed, I'd still be in the same boat as you! All of those bows you mentioned will do the trick for you. I highly recommend you watch this video by the folks of archery talk: ua-cam.com/video/L3YkQCR1l24/v-deo.html
Shoot whatever bow you like and feels good for you. Enjoy what you have and shoot the way that works for you! :)
Before you buy a bow it is also useful to know if you are right or left eye dominant.
Hello, I'd like your opinion on the Bear Cruzer please. Seems to be very adjustable. I have no clue on the draw weight or the inches setting for me. It comes as a package so the price is within my budget. I just don't know if this bow is still considered good if/when I get to be an intermediate shooter.
Heavy draw weight, good.
The main downside to low draw weights is unable to break bones. So, for the animals sake, shoot high as you're possibly able, comfortably, cuz we don't always make/have the perfect shot more often times than not.
Great video
Don’t forget to check pawn shops, i got an older hoyt compound for $25
Hi man and thanks for the video, i am quite new in the archery world and learnt a lot:). Could you please recommend me a cheap but good quality now in the market? Dont need more than 50 pound
thx for the video
Just bought my first bow, topoint serenity 2018, was it a good buy?
I want to get into bow hunting and know little about bows and self climbing tree stands. This video helped me a lot man. I use to have a cross bow and a cheaper pse compound, but just never really got into hunting with bows or even shootings much. Do you know much about the quest G5 line? I was at cabelas the other day and saw the quest forge and it looked ready to hunt, on sale for $429. Again thanks and I hope this comment made sense I'm typing it out on my cell phone haha.
For me, if I'm buying a bow brand new off the rack, I'd shoot it first to see if you like it. So make sure you do that. With that said, I'm a BIG fan of new archers shooting single cam bows like the Forge. I also have always been impressed with Quest bows, and even more so with their parent company of G5/Prime. If you shoot it and like it, it's a great buy for less than $500. God bless and good luck.
Thanks for the videos. What do you think about the strings that come on new bows. I just got a PSE Stinger X, which is under $400 for a complete RTS package. I plan on upgrading rest, sights, etc., as I can afford it, but should I be worried about the factory string?
Personally, save the money and shoot them until they go bad, then replace them. Most stock strings on major companies like PSE are very solid out of the gate, and won't need changed for a year or two. (Depending on the volume of how much you shoot.)
I started with a bow from a pawn shop and eventually upgraded to a pse stinger x.
William Cavender thinking about buying a bow from a pawn shop also
Do you know anything about bows made by bear. There are some at my local pawn shop for 30 bucks. Doesn’t look they were even used.
cheers mate
Great video. Are you aware of any 2-3 year old Hoyt/Mathew Bows which would be a good used bow in 2019?
Check out my used bow buying guide!
Hi Average Jack Archery! I have a random question. What kind of basic tools do you use when you work on your bows? I'm starting out in archery and a bit curious as to what goes into taking care of them as well as eventually doing my own upgrades :)
Cheers
Thembi Audet I have a video on just that subject! ua-cam.com/video/WdbKExpjSkE/v-deo.html
great video
Thank you so much! God bless.
Drink Bud Ice but beware of the Penguins!!! Go Pens!!! Good video. 👍🏻😎
Hey man got an important question for ya! I found a new in box Hoyt Powermax on ebay for the same price as my local hoyt dealer. Free shipping too! Only difference is in the store id also be paying an extra $105 due to my states sales tax. The down side to the ebay bow is i dont think id be able to get hoyts warranty because they require purchase at a licensed hoyt dealer. Im brand new to archery and im wondering if the hoyt warranty is worth the extra money in my situation. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!
In my world where money never seems to flow freely, I go used, second-hand, and cheaper. :)
Hoyt has always stood by their product whether new or used, and I have had them do great things for me when I purchased bows without a warranty. Now, if you have a limb break or something catastrophic like that, you're outta luck. BUT, I've shot Hoyt bows since 2005 and have never had such a major repair needed. Thankfully, the Powermax isn't a flagship $1k bow, so if there is an issue you won't be out copious amounts of cash. So I'd go with eBay for now. Save the money and don't sweat the warranty just yet..
Hey so im kinda of a intermediate shooter, by that i mean i shot competition at school. do you recommend the bear cruzer? i want to be able to get used to more and more weight later on and the customization looks nice.
The Cruzer is not a bow that I have ever shot personally. It's Bear Achery's attempt to keep in the world of highly-adjustable bows like the Diamond Infinite Edge, Mission Menace, and others. I imagine it's a great bow for anyone of any skill level and it has a great company name behind it! I have shot some of the more middle and upper end Bear bows and if the Cruzer is at all anything like it's "mother ship" bows, then it'll be a sweet shooter. :) Good luck! God bless.
Hey jack what do you think about the carbon express mayhem ds 250 dual spine ? It's a 400 spine .
Full transparency, I'm not a fan of CX arrows. Nothing against the company, but the backwards spine numbers and the idea of incorporating multiple spines is a little....off sounding to me.
cam hanes 90lbs pull ultimate predator keep hammering!!!!!!!!!
I have a question I am 13 and shoot about 200 arrows a day and work on it a lot and am shooting 70 pound draw at 27 inch draw length what would be a good bow that is under 300 bucks in that now I have a bear cruzer and my brother is now out growing his bow and his birthday in a month and am thinking to give him it so if you have any suggestions?
Thanks for the video! What’s the classifieds site in PA you referred to? I’m in Chester County, looking for my first bow
Google "Rennug Classifieds". It's the new PennsWoods Classifieds. Same layout though.
@@averagejackarchery thank you!
can you help me find a good cheap accessory kit? I'm buying a brand new bare bones SAS Rage for $145
Surprised you didnt mention to get the right spine arrow for the poundage of the bow. Otherwise excellent video
I was looking to get a compound bow but was hoping not to have to use a release. I have shot at a range a few times and will probably go to their pro shop to get the bow setup. Most of what I see recommend a 40 inch ata to minimize finger pinch. Any ideas without breaking the bank? New bows these days in that length seem to be high end. Any lower end in this length that you can think of? Thanks for any help, also nicely done videos.
Well you are certainly a trend setter! I don't think I've ever met a modern finger shooter with a compound! You are right, a long ATA is going to help, and unfortunately I'm unaware of anything 37" and longer that won't break the bank, and they are nowadays designed for high-end competitive archery.
@@averagejackarchery To me the release defeats the grab and go aspect of a bow. I will consider it though. I did find some sub 300 dollar Chinese compound bow package of over 40 inches, probably junk though. Thanks for the response!
i subscribed for the penguins jersey. i liked for the content.
I like this guy. 🐧🐧
Tip get a green screen or sheet to cover the pipes lol
I'm a big strong guy and my bow is only set to 50 lbs. I LOVE IT!
