Honestly doxxing someone over a sex mod because you're sexually frustrated is really demented and sad.
That sounds like an awfully big assumption to make. The doxxing was wrong, no doubt about that, but we know nothing about those who did it or exactly why they did it. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they actually don't give a flip about the mod and did it simply because that's how they get their kicks.

As someone who absolutely loves WW for the realism it adds to my game, I was in utter disbelief and disgusted the community around that mod behaved like this because it wasn’t updated right away. Modders are people with lives and are allowed to take vacation if they want to, they do not exist to please other people.
The funny thing is, the mod still worked even though it was “broken”, like sure, the attraction system didn’t work, but the animations and attributes were functioning as they normally did. The only thing I got from using the broken version was one singular LE upon loading my household, that I could then ignore for the rest of the time.
I was always using the free version of the mod, but after seeing how nasty people were, I decided I was gonna support Turbo through Patreon and I’m actually so glad I did.
Let's get something clear. It wasn't 'the community around that mod'. It was a handful of out-of-touch crybabies who behaved like that. As evidenced by you and me and literally tens of thousands of others. We, the community of that mod, had no problems waiting. The crybabies can be kicked out of the community since they don't behave in accordance with the type of behavior the rest of us expect.
Doxxing a Modder that makes a super spicy mod is not the way besties. The Doxxers, I think, are definitely enjoying way too much corn and need to take a step back.
I cant comprehend who did that, I would think only a mentally unstable person needs to see virtual people having corn, but if that person knows how to dox, then its not a mentally unstable person, is it??? what a dark place to be if you need that mod everyday!!!!! I love the sims and I do have that mod but I can care less, sometimes I got months without playing the sims, why would you need that so bad??? even if youre a regular player, you can wait 2 weeks for an update, at one point I played sims regularly and one time I had to delete whicked whims for 2 months and I was fine without it, I just dont get why would you need it so bad?

Me too, honestly I wouldn't be mad if he just stopped updating the mod next time a patch rolls around. Considering the reaction people had to him being on vacation, I would've taken the mod down entirely and told everyone to go F themselves.

If you can't play vanilla sims and wait for a little while for the wicked whims update, and decide to harass and dox a creator that doesn't own you anything, there's something really really wrong with you. I'd have let them all summer without an update.

Every time I download a mod, I wish there was a way I could thank them (other than paying cause I’m broke) so I find it absolutely absurd. Looking at a single line of code hurts my head much less re-coding a whole mod for free
this, so much! trying to code the smallest thing needs a lot of know-how and patience, so imagine a whole complicated mod like ww. I dare the sims community to try to mod ANYTHING before they go bitching and moaning about shit not being updated
There's a system like this on Nexus. You can "Endorse" mods on there, which basically helps them get more traction and such.
And its like a multistep process too, they have to see whats different in the EA code that might affect their mods, redo the mods affected and test it to see if its now performing as reprogramed. Its not a quick ‘boop boop, updated’

I make cc for sims 3 and. Its not coding but I make meshes. And its not just meshing. Its meshing, making sure its game compatible, uv mapping. Texturing. Then testing it. And fine tuning.
And its A LOT OF WORK
Yea I dont think making people pay for it is good. But people need to understand it takes work. And turbodriver clearly loves the mod and takes pride it in. Its not a rushed job!
He isn't making anyone pay for it, though. The mod can be downloaded for free, donating is completely optional. Yes, you can get it slightly sooner than the general public that way, but at the end of the day it's still entirely your choice.

Its illegal, because the doxxer's did this with the intention to intimidate/threaten him into responding.
My Wicked Whims worked just fine when we had the update, I didn't even notice if anything was wrong.
It doesn't help that EA has had like 6 game patches in a row, the modders must be going crazy trying to keep their mods working with an emergency patch happening everyday.

The day Lovestruck dropped, someone in the official server threatened self harm over mods not being updated and said they'd need to go to a mental hospital if their game didn't work soon. They kept saying they were going to check themselves in then would come back in a few hours asking if it was updated yet. All day, I was telling people the game was broken due to their mods. You'd think it was common knowledge all updates break mods - well it's not.

Imaging paying a company over $1K in packs just for them to constantly screw up the game with updates and then blame the people who put in free work to make the game more enjoyable

I've been in communities where this has happened. Not always because of doxxing, but the community overstepped boundaries and were told to pound salt.

even if turbodrivers patreons *were* entitled to ask for the update quicker because they pay, turbodriver is still on vacation? like,, paid vacation days exist.
hypothetically, if the patrons were turbodrivers "boss/employer", theyd still be able to have days off. not to mention they probably get paid less than any other job bc they rely on those patrons to donate.
some people expect so much from others, forgetting that they are *people*, with their own lives outside of whatever theyre doing/making for oftentimes little reward.

You need to Update Your mods in less than a week or you’ll get doxxed, you cant really leave because you’d logically just get doxxed again by People who are angry at you for even thinking you could possibly leave, you have to stop Your vacation to get a virtual mod for a game you dont even work on or get paid to make just so you dont get doxxed.
The funniest(?) part is updates don't HAVE to break your personal game. Turn off auto updates and go into offline mode each time you want to play, the game will still work, and you can wait in peace while all the mods updates. And if you don't use the gallery the experience won't be different at all. So all this for literally nothing.
I have a schedule. Whenever the Sims 4 updates the game will be broken. So I give it a month for litterally everything to catch up. It's stupid that people are so petty over a mod.
I genuinely hope that the person who doxxed Turbo NEVER gets access to their mod. Ever again. As you so aptly put it, "That's called a fucking consequence!"

I'm so heartbroken for this family. He is a whole freaking family with children. They put his entire family in danger of being harmed by people will ill-intentions. They literally robbed them of the sense of security. Honestly he should hire someone to track down who it was and press charges. People need to start pressing harassment charges for this. Platforms need to create a way to block people from YT channels and access the victim's patron.There is not enough laws in place to probably press charges, but there needs to be consequences for actions.

I have so many mods that it’s entirely possible I may have a few outdated ones I forgot are installed, especially fixes for bugs I forgot about.
Also doxxing them is stupid, now they have to spend more time not updating the mod while they move house with their “loads of money from patreon” or something.
In my experience, the sims community is extremely entitled. There are a lot of problems with the sims and ea and how they do things, but they have done cool things too. Not every pack is awful or "should just be base game". Some of them are, but even when the sims team release something that actually IS good, all I ever see is backlash. Criticism is an important part of creation and the community should be speaking up about problems with the game, but criticism doesn't have to be mean. The negativity is just honestly so overwhelming and the fact that its gotten to the point where people arent just mad at ea, but modders who have no obligation to be doing any of what they do (especially not for free), is gross.
Actually, WW worked tolerably well with Lovestruck, even before Turbodriver updated it. The WW is an amazingly well made mod, at times it has been quite a bit more stable than the game itself. The doxxing was very, very childish and totally uncalled for.

My most boomer opinion is that instant gratification has ruined society. Yes, I'm older. I'm in my late 30s. So it is totally a grandma opinion. I accept that. But DAMN people not willing to wait a week is so ridiculous as someone that grew up in the 90s when waiting was the only thing to do.
I actually did use wicked whims,, but you know those people that claim they don't actually like the sex part, they only had it for attraction and periods and stuff? I actually DID use it for that and zoomed out all the way when my Sims got wicked. Since the new pack is about attraction, I didn't even miss it. Not that I don't appreciate TurboDriver. People need to CHILL.

Wonderful whims might be for you. But for some reason the fact that wonderful whims didn't have a randomizer for ahem a guy's woohoo stick size bothered me. I felt like they should have kept that just not the animations, but I can get why it might all be intertwined in the code.
@@steggopotamus I actually did switch over to wonderful yesterday because I learned that the attraction pie menu from TurboDriver's mods is connected to the attraction settings from Lovestruck now, so when you say "Develop Sims attraction based on picked Sims->Sim->heavy settings," it actually makes your Sim attracted to the other sim BASED ON the Lovestruck attraction system which is SO convenient for storytelling.

Theres this mod for Skyrim called Inigo, I love it so much that I can't play without it. It hasn't gotten an update since 2016(Its still useable in its 2.3/2.4 state) but has been shown to have been inprogress since then but the Dev gives little to no updates. Ya know what I did in that case when I saw there wasn't a notable progress update in like 2ish year? I showed concern for the Dev!

Hes just very busy and doesn't want to waste dev time to worrying about posting progress regularly. The man is making a DLC sized ver 3.0 basically by himself while also having a full time job and other life issues but he's still working on it.
When I asked concerned about the long lack of any news I was told by someone who was handling the questions for him that I just missed some newer updates cause the nexus post was edited and that didn't give a new notif. I think there was also a youtube community post that I didn't see cause I don't normally check that tab. Still been a while since a new update again but I trust if something went wrong with the Dev there'd be a post about it.

The thing is, Turbodriver even put out a notification before going on vacation that their mod update will be delayed. These incels are definitely entitled and has a prawn addiction! I think there's one thing (that I deduced from what you said) that we both do 'wrong' for lack of better word. We try to find logic in other people actions. And sometimes people do stuff just because they're assholes and there's no logic behind it. I hear it like twice a day from my husband and mum to not look for logic in everyone's actions because I won't find it. And that's fucking insane.
When I went to school for graphic design, I had to take mandatory coding classes and coding is HARD. It is pretty much like math, if you are off by one number or letter or symbol, the entire answer is wrong. It takes time and effort. The fact that people really couldn't understand and wait for the Mod to be updated and got so angry that they had to doxx the person really need to sort out their priorities in life and get psychological help. I like playing with mods but I'm not going to doxx someone because they aren't going fast enough.

If I was turbodriver the second someone even mentions wanting to doxx me bc they are not able to play without a nsfw mod until an update, or turn off mods and not play this save file till the update comes etc. I would just take down the mod. You are spot on. The community has gotten so toxic over the years it’s taken the fun out of the game. I stopped playing a few years ago because people are so impatient and want everything instantly these days. I don’t believe in paywalls for content. One content creator talked about all this and had the audacity to say that they have a right to harass someone for not updating a mod right away just because people pay on their Patreon and I’m like ABSOLUTELY NOT!! Just because you pay so much on someone’s patreon a month DOES NOT mean that you can harass the mod creator and be a shit person. Content creators and mod creators are people too and are allowed to have a LIFE.

Turbo getting doxxed is so crazy. I know he updated the mod, but I am waiting to update it just in case he messed with it somehow. I saw people were saying TwistedMexi was dead because he took a minute to update. People chill. As someone who donates to Turbo, it is still way less than what I paid for my game and DLC. I feel like if pressure should be applied, it should be to EA. Not this disgusting behavior but asking for updates and fixes to be done faster.

Honestly, if it was me and somebody doxxed me I would have just nuked all my mods from the internet or at least stop updating them. Like, it's one thing to be a whiny entitled baby about the mods not being updated fast enough for your liking, there will always be entitled, rude and ungrateful people no matter what you make, it's whatever. I use WW as part of my overly realistic life modpack that I've painfully and meticulously constructed, and i'm STILL waiting for a couple hundred mods to be fixed. WW is one of the few that I can respectfully wait as the update was a target to WW's core mechanics.
to see people get rowdy over a prawn mod on a game that's already unpopular and non-rewarding to anyone, I'm surprise that Turbo didn't just up and quit. Since they can easily find a job with their current modding abilities and profile, ESPECIALLY when it comes to modding the Sims 4.
I TRIED to simply EDIT a Sims 4 mod, and I was completely out of my league when it comes to it. Other game mods were easy to figure out and edit, but Sims 4 was a PAIN. Modders need more respect than what they're getting.

As a lover of Sims and as someone who owns every Sims expansion, pack, kits and all that, the thing I understand the most above all else, is that an update breaks everything on an astronomical level, every mod I have will break, and I will be mod-less for a minimum of a week. Does it suck? Yes. Am I mad? No. Because I understand that modding comes with the understanding that updates BREAK THE F-ING MOD SCRIPTING AND it's NOT THE MODDERS FAULT. I accept that I will play vanilla sims for a while and rejoice that I will have modded sims again when I can. Also one of my favorite things to do after an update is to try to find as many bugs and issues as possible because it's funny to me. But that's because I like being a beta tester.
I don’t think the game going free to play is really to blame here. I used to be on sims 4 twitter back in like 2018/2019 when YT channels doing pack giveaways became really popular. I don’t remember which creator it happened to, but basically a new pack had come out (seasons?) and they got a dm from this random kid who asked them to buy the pack for them because they didn’t “want to wait 6 months for Christmas” for their parents to buy it for them. Mind you this creator wasn’t even doing a giveaway or anything! So yeah unfortunately entitlement has been an issue with the sims community for a while. I hope Turbodriver’s okay though, doxxing someone is straight up evil
worst thing is wicked whims was working almost perfectly after the patch and before he updated it, the only thing I noticed myself was that strip clubs customers wouldn't go in the strip club, but if you weren't using strip clubs as a whole it really wasn't something you would notice. That was the only feature - to my knowledge - that didn't work and it still got people mad for some reason.
I'm guessing the people who got mad about it maybe didn't want to risk playing with the unupdated version on the new patch, but at this point if you're that nervous about breaking your game and absolutely wanna keep playing it, just take the precautions for it not to update automatically when a new patch arrives. It's really not that hard and it's on you to do it, not the the modders.
this whole situation boils my piss so much. so much vitriol towards people doing FREE LABOR for you just because they didnt jump when you told them to is fucking insane. ive totally scrapped my ideas of modding for ts4 because, frankly, the sims community isnt worth it. my heart goes out to all the modders that were harassed, especially my mans turbodriver.

Doxxing someone over not being able to watch digital custom woohoo animations is just so unhinged. Whoever did that needs genuine mental health help. I hope turbo is okay after this, and i honestly wouldnt be surprised or mad if they pulled the mod from the internet.
As a sane person, yknow what i did when my mods were temporarily broken? I played base game for the first time in a while. I have a separate game file, named base game gameplay, and it was a fine time. Yeah mods add a bit to the game, but at the end of the day, the base game isnt the worst. Like hot take, but the game is mostly playable without mods 🤷♂️
I'm telling you right now the main reason that nobody takes away something when someone does something wrong is because they would get bigger backlash than the person who did something wrong.
I guarantee you that if turbo driver or whatever took the entire mod away because of that one person the entire community would have turned on him and not the person who docked him

Hell I didn't even remove my mods folder and WW was still mostly functional with only thing that I personally noticed wrong was the attraction system not working properly and I shrugged and moved on. Was it wise for me to play with my mods after the update? Probably not. Did I for one second consider doxxing Turbodriver a good idea? Nope. Honestly I didn't even know that were on vacation because im never on Twitter (i refuse to call it X. It's a stupid name for a social media website and you cant convince me otherwise). I just assume that since the lovestruck update was pretty big that most mod creators who make large mods would take a while longer to update said mods. Besides there are other video games that exist besides sims 4. I myself picked up Torchlight 2 to wait out some of the more broken mods. Snb bills last I checked still hasn't gotten an update and I think not having it in the files that I used it for has made the bills system kinda wonky but oh well. No skin off my back lol

I'd take out the "unless they are actually criminals". Anything that allows people to make a value judgement like that means they're judging the situation on THEIR moral code and people have vastly different opinions on what behaviour is bad enough to be punished. It should be illegal to dox people along with a slew of other harassing behaviour, period, and that way if you want to do it anyway as part of a protest action like how the list of donors behind Heritage 2025 was leaked and things like that, you have to believe it's justified enough to be willing to risk the legal consequences of your actions. Which you'll be able to predict, because if something's illegal the same legislation will also lay out the potential punishments so you can decide whether it's worth it (maybe you're okay with paying a large fine but not with going to jail), and formal legislation isn't going to punish your family members for something you did.

this is why i always try to have an unmodded save. i used wickedwhims in my main save to make a poly family, but with the new attraction system from lovestruck, i knew i needed to take a break from that save while bugs got fixed and ww got recoded. i can't even fathom being so entitled that my best line of action would be putting a human being in the spotlight and maybe danger, just because they were going to take a little longer than usual

To me, it’s no different from how people are as customers in restaurants or stores. There are people who believe that they have a right to treat service workers any way they want because they’re the “customer.” The pandemic really made it worse. That’s why so many videos came out of people loosing their minds in public. WW is such a fun mod. If I was Turbodriver I would’ve shut it down. I’m sure there are awesome unreleased mods out there because people are too scared of the pressure that comes with releasing it.

Wonderful Whims and Wicked Whims both have the same attraction mechanics, menstrual cycles etc. the only difference is that Wicked Whims have the spicy mechanics and animations (done by other modders)

Ngl, the anxiety I had about keeping my mods updated is the reason I stopped creating mods. I used to mod for TS3 a lot and when TS4 was still in its infancy I dipped my toes into the modding scene before EA changed their coding style, and I stg I was terrified of opening any of my messages after any patch dropped. I usually had things updated within the week, but sometimes people were really mean and my anxiety just couldn’t take it. So I just retired my TS3 stuff and yanked my TS4 stuff completely, because it was just too much. I cannot imagine how insane this had to have been for Turbo and his family, it’s insane what people will do. I’ve talked modding with the dude, nicest guy, never thought I’d be talking about the best way to mesh d*cks with someone before lol. But hey, The Sims has a weird community - clearly.
I honestly would've just deleted the mod. I wonder how the doxxers like legit feel? Any remorse? Guilt? Desire to change for the better? Touching grass?
