The Speed Upgrades aren't faster tier to tier, but you can stack more with each tier. Base only stack to 4, Magical stack to 16, and Evil stack to 64, which means each tier has a higher potential speed.
Dire you should start to use sand to pile up like you seem to do a lot, that way you can get rid of the entire thing by just destroying the bottom block and a torch :)
Also this is a simple wooden scaffolds are made for. Break bottom - drops all above it plus you can clime them - no derp pillars. Very handy and cheap - planks and sticks.
What about adding an extra empty space at the bottom to help it not get stuck? If you do that I would add an extra block breaker just in case the first one doesn't break it. Or another idea could be to add more block breakers.
Dire I would recommend, changing the setting in Actually Additions for the mining drill. You can change it in-game on the mod config, it's to confirm that things are being broken. Otherwise it's upset you're breaking blocks too fast, and essentially won't count them as broken. Since changing that setting, I've been able to do single block, 3x3 and even 5x5 without issue on things like dirt, gravel and sand. Since you often blast through them with a full speed drill, and hanging up on ghost blocks due to gravity is a pain.
The whole setup need air above and the 8 block around the enchanter as well if it works like a real enchanting table. Since he had stone above it wouldn't recognise the pylons. Edit: Actually just need 2 block high of air wherever sides you put the pylons on. They don't need to be opposite to each other. Tested in creative world.
I personally use Immersive Engineering power lines to move power long distance, then deliver it to multiple machines in a small area via Fluxducts. To marry the two systems, you need to put an appropriate voltage connector on the Fluxduct.
The mana pylons do work with the enchanter, you need to set them in the right place though. Place them where the corners of your standard bookshelf setup would be. So 2 to the side, 2 back. Also, IIRC, other blocks in the enchanting “space” can interfere with things.
Dire, the problem comes with the end of the line being directly adjacent to a block it will then stick to. Dig your column pit one block deeper and you should have no interruption of service.
Direwolf, you should look at powercells. They are a multidimensional multiblock for power storage. Put one on your Astral Sorcery platform with a Matter Receiver and you should be able to teleport all day long. (I guess the only question comes down to whether or not the matter receiver will remain "active" when you move it with frames...)
The Timer only turns off when it gets Redstone Pulses not a constant signal. Which basically means you need a timer to turn of the Timer and thats just the worst possbile Idea for a Timer that i could think off... No kudos to whoever though of that
For your frames thing... just break the block beneath the block that gets broken so it doesn't think it can't go anywhere. The block breaker is definitely faster than the mover.
all the extra utilities speed upgrades give the same boost the only difference between the normal, magical, and ultimate is the stack limit, normal only stacks up to 4, magical up to 16, and ultimate up to 64, so all machines that can use speed upgrades can be maxed out at 64 speed upgrades which makes the machine work at 65x base speed so a netherstar generator would produce around 260K RF/t
Ooh I had that same glitch with the Resonator! If you remove the input it will still finish the operation, too bad you can't create really valuable items with it
This was cool. Not bad for a first designed movable astral altar. I do wonder if there is a way to do it without the pillar being visible, as that would be cool.
the point of moving the whole thing is to get more power into the altar as he needs it... basically when he is gonna craft a item that requires a ton of moonlight power he is just gonna let that thing go all the way up.. recharge the altar and craft the item and then could regulate how much power is in the altar by moving it up and down ! basically he could keep the altar at a normal altitude until he needs it to have more moonlit powah ! which is cool and only makes sense because the block works with altitude levels which means.. being able to move it efficiently only makes it more convenient ! If it was me tho... I would just setup a base all the way up in the top of the world and make a special Teleportation room and a 'teleportation door' to get there!
I'm sure it's been mentioned but, just make a second miner below the first? Also, the elevators (same as in your base) don't seem to have a range limit, not sure how they'd handle being moved however (hey, I get that the moving is cool even if it's unnecessary). Oh, and get rid of the two levers please? If they have to be different then invert the signal, just use the redstone transmitters/receivers
ring of the flying squid from extra utilities 2 costs 16 gp and gives jetpack-like flight. pair that with an angel block, and you almost have early game accessible flight
It's not like the Angel ring is that much harder to come by. 1 Ghast tear for an Imprisonment tool, capture another ghast, let it be duped, capture witherskellies, tadah.
You could use a block update detector of sorts to send redstone pulse (with delay if needed) to the slider facing down. :D ^^^^ like integrated dynamics
Hey dire im sure this has been moved probably by now, but why not just dig a 1x1 for the frame column deep into the ground with grey sides. Should make it so you dont have to break them.
When you have the squid ring, you might as well get the Angel Ring though. All it takes is to capture a Ghast and a Witherskeleton and dupe them. He's at the point where he can comfortably do that
But what if you use two miners for frame breaking? It looks like one miner does is not ready for when the next block arrives, a second miner should definitely help.
why not just build a nice spiral tower going up, this is just over-complicating a build. a nice fixed spiral tower could have a nice mixed in botania gardens as you climb upwards.
Or he could just use a simple elevator. He sometimes just wants to experiment around and I can't really fault him for that. I skipped through most of the episode and just looked at the end result though.
isnt the stuttering coming from minecraft not understanding floatpoint heights very well? (feetpos is always a whole number when standing on solid ground, so if the character is standing and not falling or jummping the feet pos should be constant) same goes for the jittering when breaking blocks too fast
No, no that's not it. The problem is with the updates to player pos are being written by the server in a sub optimal manner For reference look at McJty's elevator, his solution was instead of attempting to sync the elevator, the server overwrites your position to that of the elevator while you're in range ( when it's running )
it's more of the fact that the player position is client side and everything else is server side, so you have to send packets to the client to tell them they are moving with the blocks and they have to handle that with a delay time that gets bigger in multiplayer which is why elevators have always been finicky to play with. This is worked around in vanilla elevators by making the elevator move an entity that the player rides, like a minecart, a boat or a llama, because the entity position is handled by the server and the player position is bound to the entity's. So maybe direwolf should put something like a boat or even a chair if it exists in the modpack so the stuttering would stop
That's how the Thut's Elevators mod solves the problem. The elevator car is an entity. Makes for a nice, smooth ride. Unfortunately, it's not in this pack, but I mentioned it because it supports Imad Nabil's point. That, and it's just a really cool mod that I think everyone should know about. ;)
Dire i told u store your xp last episode (but now u died rip) TE got updated to where you can store your xp with a machine and item and it also adds a cool new mechanic where you can now automate brewing potions and making enchanted books in a better way than vanilla
Unstable Code Scarlet He most certainly does read comments. He just rarely takes people’s advice on how to play. although, in this instance, he definitely should have. I guess that’s just a drawback of bulk recording.
Well as much as I have seen, he does read comments, but the problem is that he pre-records 3-4 videos, so by the time he records another episode, he already forgot about it
I've had a mob grinding utilities xp drain singularity tank hooked up to an EU2 tier 2 drum pretty much as soon as I could set it up... drum has about 70,000 mb of xp in it by now lol
Фыва Ячсм He tries to keep a backlog of videos, so we can still have a daily episode even if, for whatever reason, he cannot record for a period of time. It's most likely just a coincidence that the update to the pack happened at the same time as his episode mentioning it, in the sense that, at that point, he didn't have much of a backlog. Another possible explanation would be that he gets the pack update a day or two before it goes public, you know, for testing and whatnot, so the episode was recorded a couple days prior, but we just happened to get the public update on the same day that the episode went up - another coincidence.
There’s a Tome in which you can use to store your experience in, use it please or you have the XP Drain Singularity Tank from Mob Grinding Utils and a tap to access it every time you need XP.
Though, is there much reason to store it? I haven't had much use for it yet, even for enchanting I set up a couple Industrial Foregoing fishers and run the enchanted items through the enchantment extractor (using essence from the mob farm) and books through the enchantment applicator with a wooden sword then that through the extractor and all the books (and fish) go into a separate refined storage system, I've gotten quite a few books now (all with a single enchantment each). All automated (though it's not particularly pretty since I just used item ducts lol).
I honestly haven’t thought about doing that. All I’ve done so far is use a few emeralds and books in the (Alchemical?) (the machine in which you can do level 1 enchantments costing XP and a gem or mob drop. Forget what it’s called). Anyway I got a couple fortune 3 books and now I have my refined storage system breaking down all the ores like diamonds, draconium, emeralds etc... that I get from the void ore miner. But where Dire is at now he doesn’t have any stored experience at all apart from his mob grinder, it’d be good to have some on hand for the only few times in which you do need it.
The Speed Upgrades aren't faster tier to tier, but you can stack more with each tier.
Base only stack to 4, Magical stack to 16, and Evil stack to 64, which means each tier has a higher potential speed.
Hey didn't know that! I should craft some more then.. Thanks!
Sand is to vanilla for Dire. Lol
You can also use EXU2 magical wood for the enchanter so you need way fewer blocks.
Dire: Upgraded ExU Speed Upgrades don't speed up machines faster, they just have a higher stack size.
What about adding an extra empty space at the bottom to help it not get stuck? If you do that I would add an extra block breaker just in case the first one doesn't break it. Or another idea could be to add more block breakers.
was thinking the same thing :p
i tried this too, but it still stops
Dire I would recommend, changing the setting in Actually Additions for the mining drill. You can change it in-game on the mod config, it's to confirm that things are being broken. Otherwise it's upset you're breaking blocks too fast, and essentially won't count them as broken. Since you often blast through them with a full speed drill, and hanging up on ghost blocks due to gravity is a pain.
yeah I actually killed myself this way... the game both thought my head was in a block and thought that there wasn't anything there to render
All the speed upgrades speeds up equally per upgrade. The only difference is that normals stacks to 4, magical to 16 and the final one to 64.
Yea you made it but next step in astral sorcery it is to increase altar size to 11x11 :D
Not to mention that soon enough moving it will become pointless thanks to the ability to make collector crystals.
But this is fun.
Not to mention the cool method of teleporting that AS adds.
Dire, use powercell to tranfer RF for a long distance
they can be upgraded and with everyone placed they gain more storage
yeah I got enough advanced powercells down not that I'm changing out my primary storage
and now there's a phantom block hanging around somewhere in the air since he didn't properly update it.
It'll show up the next time he logs out and back in (or restarts since it's SSP)
Mana pylons just need to be one block away from the enchanter on opposite sides....
key "opposite sides" :) Dire did have them 1 block away but not on opposite sides lol
To marry the two systems, you need to put an appropriate voltage connector on the Fluxduct.
too much work... linked rftools powercells for long distance operations requires less setup and less resources
The mana pylons do work with the enchanter, you need to set them in the right place though. Place them where the corners of your standard bookshelf setup would be. So 2 to the side, 2 back. Also, IIRC, other blocks in the enchanting “space” can interfere with things.
Btw there's also Actually Additions auto-placer and auto-breaker which are quite fast, that you can use for this.
i tested it and it didnt work too
Dire, the problem comes with the end of the line being directly adjacent to a block it will then stick to. Dig your column pit one block deeper and you should have no interruption of service.
Direwolf, you should look at powercells. They are a multidimensional multiblock for power storage. (I guess the only question comes down to whether or not the matter receiver will remain "active" when you move it with frames...)
Hey Dire just a heads up to look at the sound for the MeepCreeps mod as it carries across from one dimension to another.
funky locomotion isnt as fun without project red i think.
The Timer only turns off when it gets Redstone Pulses not a constant signal. Which basically means you need a timer to turn of the Timer and thats just the worst possbile Idea for a Timer that i could think off... No kudos to whoever though of that
Thanks for showing how frames work. I don't like the bright light projected but it's still really cool!
For your frames thing... just break the block beneath the block that gets broken so it doesn't think it can't go anywhere. The block breaker is definitely faster than the mover.
Mana pylons work for me in the enchanter, I have them diagonally behind the machine
** watches, notices Dire's inventory as he pillars up **
"Oh, is he gonna.... yup. He did."
Seriously, did anyone NOT see the Direfall coming? :D
Direderp: putting speed upgrades in the frame motor instead of the block breaker.
all the extra utilities speed upgrades give the same boost the only difference between the normal, magical, and ultimate is the stack limit, normal only stacks up to 4, magical up to 16, and ultimate up to 64, so all machines that can use speed upgrades can be maxed out at 64 speed upgrades which makes the machine work at 65x base speed so a netherstar generator would produce around 260K RF/t
From EU2 changelog: "Added Magic Apple (when eaten shuffles the random enchantments available at an enchanting table)"
All these frames to access a platform you could scale to with two elevators..
Ooh I had that same glitch with the Resonator! If you remove the input it will still finish the operation, too bad you can't create really valuable items with it
This was cool. Not bad for a first designed movable astral altar. I do wonder if there is a way to do it without the pillar being visible, as that would be cool.
You can use daylight sensor to automate the altar thingy
dire: let's use frame breaker and placer
me: ... why not use one of those fancy flying machines for up and down
Direwolf20, the RFTools timer only resets when it gets a pulse, a steady signal doesn't quite do it
Dire I would recommend making spring salads, they take a carrot and a lettuce and they fill lots of food
Thank you super cool buddy. Wireless dohickys ftw!
seeing this reminds me of the old worm drive miners that decimated worlds
i think the stuttering can also be related to the botania step assist feature from the sash thingie
Why oh why did you cut the fall? I was looking forward to it when I noticed you didn't put your boots back on :)
Love how he drops the gold in to one chest and then looks at the other chest 3 blocks away to see if its processing.
Dont the magical upgrades stack higher than four?
I just moved from colossal chest storage to same one direwolf have now on my modpack :D
One episode just do a short part at the start making an angel ring. They're a lot cheaper than when I last played
You could have just made a elavator like the 1 in your base to get up there...
Lapdap Gaming Your correct. The elevator blocks seem to have infinite range now.
To quote Dire, “the purpose of this mod pack is to learn the mods and play how you want.” He wants to use frames and teach people about them.
But that is no fun...
the point of moving the whole thing is to get more power into the altar as he needs it... basically when he is gonna craft a item that requires a ton of moonlight power he is just gonna let that thing go all the way up.. recharge the altar and craft the item and then could regulate how much power is in the altar by moving it up and down ! basically he could keep the altar at a normal altitude until he needs it to have more moonlit powah ! which is cool and only makes sense because the block works with altitude levels which means.. being able to move it efficiently only makes it more convenient !
If it was me tho... I would just setup a base all the way up in the top of the world and make a special Teleportation room and a 'teleportation door' to get there!
Duuuur, you could just use an elevator block. And the point just soars over your head.
I'm sure it's been mentioned but, just make a second miner below the first?
Also, the elevators (same as in your base) don't seem to have a range limit, not sure how they'd handle being moved however (hey, I get that the moving is cool even if it's unnecessary).

Given the time of year this video was released, I find it a travesty you didn't decide to call it "FrameDeer Games".
You could use a block update detector of sorts to send redstone pulse (with delay if needed) to the slider facing down. :D
^^^^ like integrated dynamics
What about using rftools, builder to move it almost? Something I intend to try in my world.
Hey dire im sure this has been moved probably by now, but why not just dig a 1x1 for the frame column deep into the ground with grey sides. Should make it so you dont have to break them.
Dire, look into the tiered rings from extra utilities. The squid ring is pretty cheap and works like a jetpack
When you have the squid ring, you might as well get the Angel Ring though. All it takes is to capture a Ghast and a Witherskeleton and dupe them. He's at the point where he can comfortably do that
Make a frame quarry with the block breakers!
Dire, since you have frames again you should make the frame quarry mark 2.
no buildcraft, sadly
Could you use the elevator blocks like you use in the house to get up when its up?
Yay, frames are cool! :)
There is a block breaker in minefactory relodaded's follow up mod.. And btw what happened to buildcraft?
skip all the block placers and breakers, just have a hole going down for the pillar thingy :P
But what if you use two miners for frame breaking? It looks like one miner does is not ready for when the next block arrives, a second miner should definitely help.
ActuallyAdditions has also a blockbreaker, maybe consider that one next time
You could have stacked two breakers to make up for the timing issues.
why not just build a nice spiral tower going up, this is just over-complicating a build.
a nice fixed spiral tower could have a nice mixed in botania gardens as you climb upwards.
Alex de Vries Because it wouldn't be Dire if it wasn't over-complicated. Lol
Or he could just use a simple elevator. He sometimes just wants to experiment around and I can't really fault him for that. I skipped through most of the episode and just looked at the end result though.
many theories this episode :P
"Just trying to figure out the math."
Well then, maybe you could try comparing ONE speed upgrade to ONE enchanted speed upgrade. Just a thought.
isnt the stuttering coming from minecraft not understanding floatpoint heights very well? (feetpos is always a whole number when standing on solid ground, so if the character is standing and not falling or jummping the feet pos should be constant) same goes for the jittering when breaking blocks too fast

For reference look at McJty's elevator, his solution was instead of attempting to sync the elevator, the server overwrites your position to that of the elevator while you're in range ( when it's running )
Ahhh I see! yes, that makes more sense thanks for the reply, learned something new today!
it's more of the fact that the player position is client side and everything else is server side, so you have to send packets to the client to tell them they are moving with the blocks and they have to handle that with a delay time that gets bigger in multiplayer which is why elevators have always been finicky to play with.

Here I was thinking that the problem could have been the auto-step from the sash... Guess I am wrong.
why not breaking the stone block under the frame pillar? it will not get stuck (?)
In aoe dire was the only person I've seen use integrated Dynamics
soooo why use a breaker and not just piller down and just place the column going down?
*edit* never mind i see the issue
Does dire play for an evening and break it up for you tube or does he only play 35 minutes a day ?
classic - doesn't go down far enough? all good... intentional. Feature, not a bug.
DireWolf, are you alright? I've noticed you've been coughing in most of your recent videos...
He should get an angel ring, from Extra Utilities 2 and it uses 32 GP but it's an easy way to get flying and no fall damage
yeah angel ring is nice
Dire i told u store your xp last episode (but now u died rip)
TE got updated to where you can store your xp with a machine and item and it also adds a cool new mechanic where you can now automate brewing potions and making enchanted books in a better way than vanilla

Well as much as I have seen, he does read comments, but the problem is that he pre-records 3-4 videos, so by the time he records another episode, he already forgot about it
But when he announced an ftb pack update it was pretty synched if I remember it right.. It's hard to do if he always has a big episodes archive.
I've had a mob grinding utilities xp drain singularity tank hooked up to an EU2 tier 2 drum pretty much as soon as I could set it up... drum has about 70,000 mb of xp in it by now lol

Use a phantom phase redstone one
Episode 27, he is STILL doing DireDERP towers! WHY?! He have simple jetpacks haven't him?
The enchanter recognizes draconium blocks. Just an fyi
It recognizes pylons too, he just didn't place them right.
there is a wolf in your name,
furry confirmed
There’s a Tome in which you can use to store your experience in, use it please or you have the XP Drain Singularity Tank from Mob Grinding Utils and a tap to access it every time you need XP.
or the xp solidifier
Or that too. Either way he needs to start storing his XP so every time he dies he doesn’t lose it.

AHHHHHHHHHHMMMMMM.....................
Dire, mana pylons work for me
DireDeathcount: 3
But moving an entire multiblock is completely safe
Frame Games doesn't look like Cell Games ?
Diretime!!
FFS make an angle ring already!

Why not just use an elevator block?
Yay diretime
Yeaaaa EARLY
Yha super early
Direwolf do avarita please

Today's episode totally should've been called "Going Down the Rabbit Hole".
ewwwwwwwwwwwwww the new texture on the mana pylons in gross

Try to move up sitting on chair
Gravity FromHell Can work...
it's 'how to make a career' type of thing? 😁
Timing!
lit amirightdude
no more ST2 pylon im sad
aslo direderp use the elevator mod block for a cheap way up\down
:)
Probably not first!
Why don't you just craft a jetpack?
he hasn't done anything in Industralcraft and there are no Rf jetpacks? simply jetpacks isn't in the modpack
2 likes already? o_0
First?
