A friend of mine gott one on his new bike and is super happy. I hope they will solve the problems that come with an innovative system from a relativley small company: full integration into eg. SRAM AXS (crossing fingers fot TRP), and morre wheel manufacturers that offer this hub.
They are progressing pretty quickly in terms of wheel compatibility and fixing some of the initial issues. But as you say with tech always some initial teething issues but thankfully with Parcours and Classified partnership I’ve had zero issues
I am sure that it is a fair bit more expensive than a 2x but if it gives you quicker and safer shifting, while offering the same option of gearing choices, that could well be worth it, and particularly if you are a pro of course and make a living from racing the best you possibly can. I also suppose that the hub will be quite a bit heavier than a typical standard hub, and also less aero, which to some extent will be countered by just having 1x instead of 2x, but with shifters and battery/axle and the whole lot it seems to me that there must be some sort of cost' aside from the financial one to be paid?
So as far as I can tell - there is additional weight in the hub, but the cassette is super light and taking off additional chainring and front mech balances out. I think the bigger gains are from efficiency and being able to shift so quickly under load on rolling sections or coming in and out of hills
