- The new Jurassic Park or World movie with David Koepp returning to write has just revealed that Godzilla (2014) and Rogue One director Gareth Edwards will be filming the movie. This is good news for the 2025 sequel but I do wish they would push the project back.

I really wish Gareth brings back the aspect of the dinosaurs making more intimidating and threatening like the original instead of what we see them recently like they were some sort of superhero.
My lord be quiet
Great news! Monsters and Godzilla are full of Jurassic Park references and Gareth Edwards' style of direction is perfect for a Jurassic movie. With David Koepp writing the script and now the news that Edwards will be directing, I'm starting to feel really positive about this movie. I think this will mark a return to the more grounded realism of JP and TLW. I’m already more excited about this than I was for any of the Jurassic World movies.
I like Jurassic World. That to me at least was the only sequel worth watching. Lost World is only good when the dinosaurs start attacking people and the scene where the T Rex runs through San Fran.

Gareth is a huge fan of Jurassic Park and Steven Spielberg, and you can see elements of both Jurassic Park and Jaws in Godzilla (2014).
He did a good job directing Rogue One, His grounded style should work well with Jurassic Park.
Lol no. The best part about rogue one was the ending scene with vader.
@@nightmarezero8465 That, I agree.
This Franchise will break through Barrier's painfully, maybe even Dangerously, but there it is.❤😂
@nightmarezero8465 entire film was a good film. It was down to earth action flick.
Did he, though? It's a widely known fact that Tony Gilroy was the one who helmed the extensive reshoots (including most of the third act) and rewrites. Rogue One is what it is thanks to him. I wouldn't really pick that film to rate Gareth Edwards' qualities as a director.
Gareth Edwards did such an awesome job with Godzilla, so I'd love to see what he can do with the Jurassic franchise!
Just imagine recreating the Darth vader hallway scene in Rogue One with multiple velociraptors stepping out of the darkness; pure heart pumping terror!
Or the H.A.L.O. jump scene from Godzilla
@@CheesyNoodlez I love your profile picture
He didn’t direct that scene from Rogue One so….
@@generose9083ofc he directed, he was the director of the movie?😂
That scene was created by Tony Gilroy though, let's not forget he was bought in to save Rogue One at the last minute due to Gareth's incompetence
He is honestly a pretty good choice if we are talking horror
What this franchise needs. Scare. Horror.
Desperately and not some pretty rainbow pretty unicorn tevarrow turned dominion into
@@KingRex1993 “Owen, throw your hands up to try to appease the carnotaurus and baryonyx!”
🤣
And while your at it rag doll a dilo like it can't do anything
This has all the ingredients of becoming the best Jurassic movie since the original...
people said the same about dominion
@@tesserae582cap
@@tesserae582the big difference here is David Koepp wrote the script for J7. Dominion had a bunch of washed up screen writers who left a major booboo on the franchise.
Now we just need the pieces to be put together properly
Agree The best
Give us suspense, claustrophobia, the unknown, darkness.
Aka, the lost world
The first time ive been excited for Jurassic Park news in a long time....this guy blew me away with what he did in Godzilla....I feel like he can bring back the grandeur and awe, and make the dinosaurs terrifying again...
Omg, YES!!! This gives me hope for the franchise, I loved Edward's direction of Godzilla 2014. The dark tone and atmosphere is exactly what this franchise needs
If Gareth is good at one thing, it's establishing a sense of scale and scope. That would be important for a Jurassic film. And his VFX background may help as well. Either way, if he does become director, I'd be excited, because I'm a fan of his work.
Gareth Edwards is a good choice for Jurassic 7 I loved Godzilla 2014 my hope is that in this movie hopefully he can bring back the Jurassic in this franchise.
This is the kind of director the Jurassic franchise needed. His movies are mixed; so are all the Jurassic movies, even the first one. He has a great eye and understanding of special effects, and we know he can do creature features and sci-fi that is still focused on human characters.
The good thing about Gareth is he understands CGI a lot more than most directors do
I trust this guy far more than the last. The style of his work is more akin to Spielberg, and if the Vader hallway scene from Rogue One or any scene starring Godzilla, Edwards will more than likely make Dinosaurs in Jurassic World feel as scary and threatening as they did in the original film (or even more akin to the books).
Also, dude, I gotta get some kind of contact with you because I got a fan film pitch you might love
Pretty sure the Vader hallway scene was shot by Tony Gillroy in reshoots.
I LOVE the 2014 Godzilla film so to hear that Gareth Edward is directing gives me unhealthy amounts of confidence
Now this is a pretty good choice in my opinion because this can open the door for more horror.
Horror?
@@animezilla4486Well, less “horror” and more of a darker, grounded tone I’d say. Gareth has been pretty good at accomplishing that in the films he’s directed.
@@animezilla4486 dinosaurs should be horror in nature bc you don't know I'd you are going to get hunted by a Utah raptor, allosaurus or just have a triceratops walk past in a jungle or bush type setting
Now this is some GOOOOD news, loved his work with 2014’s Godzilla. Made monsters feel like real animals
I always wanted Gareth Edwards make a Jurassic movie since I love his work on Godzilla and The Creator
Holy cow
Im actually excited for this
Gareth Edward is a perfect fit for Jurassic. I hope they seal the deal.
Man this movie is gonna be great, as fine as I was with David Leitch, Edwards is just an excellent choice. Looking forward to this.
VERY VERY Happy with Gareth Edwards being the director. He was my top choice for who I believed would be the perfect director for a Jurassic movie, so I'm very happy to see that wish be fulfilled!! I'm hoping for a similar tone to Godzilla 2014!! 🦖🦕
It doesn't have to be like Godzilla 2014
@@animezilla4486 I don't mean an exact copy of Godzilla 2014, but I would like for the film to have a similar atmosphere as well as similar cinematography to Godzilla 2014. The franchise definitely needs to be more grounded and fans want it to have a more horror esque tone, something that Godzilla 2014 has. In my opinion, Godzilla 2014 is the perfect blueprint for what a Jurassic movie should be like!!
We need more close-quarters scenes like the kitchen scene, Battle at Big Rock, etc. THOSE are the most suspenseful. And killing off a main character unexpectedly will make it that much better!
I agree. When I first watched Jirassic Park as a kid, that kitchen scene with the raptors legit gave me nightmares. This is what the franchise needs, more darker, grittier, suspenseful, and unknown scenes.
Gareth is a good pick!
As a Godzilla fan, yes, I'm glad he's taking the role as director for this film, looking forward for his take on the franchise!
This is a solid choice. His style and tone is much closer to what I think most fans are hoping the franchise will return to. More grounded, and serious. At least on the face of it, it feels like a better fit then Leitch did.
Gareth Edwards directed a pretty impressive Sci Fi Action movie called THE CREATOR nominated for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound.
I did enjoy Godzilla and Rogue One, which is one of the best Star Wars movies ever made.
Pleasant surprise to get Gareth Edwards. I enjoyed Godzilla 2014 with exception of how Bryan Cranston’s character was handled in the end. Edwards’ movies are breathtaking when it comes cinematography.
I felt exactly the same about what they did to brian cranston, i was so invested in him and him finding out the truth but we move focus to his boring son for the rest of the movie
@@richardrobertsDN38416 Yeah exactly. I was hoping the movie would center around Cranston’s character. (Spoiler) Instead he’s killed off in the first half. It was disappointing at the time because “Breaking Bad” was peak popularity around that time in 2014. The film was basically marketed as Walter White meets Godzilla. Regardless, Gareth Edwards has some directing strengths that makes this choice intriguing.
2 things Gareth Edwards nails are scale and tone. Definitely interested to see what he can do with Jurassic.
So glad they are making another movie
Edwards’ Godzilla is a masterpiece in my mind, they could not have chosen a better director.
He's a great choice for 👍 directing the movie. Godzilla (2014) is awesome, and Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie since Disney took over and is in my top 5 favorite Star Wars movies. I'm so happy with this pick with the director.
With you on everything. Gareth and David being involved relaxes me a bit, though I also am worried about the speed of production. What are they in such a hurry for? A well-crafted film is worth waiting for.
I'm thinking this could be more of a spin-off, than a prequel or a sequel. Could explain why this movie is so time crunched like it is, because it may not be intended to be a 2 hour plus movie. Naw man, it could have a running time similar to JP3, which was about an hour 'en 15 minutes, or something like that.
This is great news for Jurassic world 4, in fact I love this director of the 2014 Godzilla movie.
Hope the characters are as good as rogue one 🙏
That's good to hear! I liked his Godzilla film! And the Vader scene in Rogue one was also really cool, so this guy knows how to do fan service!
Awesome video on the upcoming Jurassic Movie being directed by Gareth Edwards and I’m very surprised that he’s directing the Jurassic Movie after the 2014 Godzilla Movie which that movie was my favorite and I hope he does a lot better than Colin Trevorrow and Life Definitely Finds A Way with this big time.
Great work on this Klayton and as always, Take It Easy and Life Finds A Way.
The main criticism of Godzilla 2014 was the spooky, mysterious and darker undertone of the movie. The Godzilla franchise is exactly what’s supposed to be the modern Transformers analogue: loud, trashy and vapid. Hence, Godzilla 2014 didn’t really make it as big as it could’ve.
Gareth Edwards was tailor made for the JP/JW franchise. He knows how to create tension, how to set the atmosphere, and how to treat these behemoths like the actual scary monsters that they are instead of some personified caricature of good or evil on a giant scale. The exact criticisms of Godzilla 2014 are what make me optimistic for this new entry.
Spielberg learned lessons about sequels from Jaws he basically hates making Sequels
I couldn't be happier. For me, Gareth has the potential to deliver the best Jurassic sequel of them all. His directing style reminds me even pf that of 80's Spielberg. And with Spielbergs praise for Edwards, this comes to no surprise.
I love this choice. The HALO jump scene from Godzilla was fantastic
Anything about Jurassic park is good news
Gareth Edwards is one of the best possible choices Spielberg could have made. His Godzilla film is absolutely terrific and Rogue One has grown on me since it first released. Pair him with David Koepp and we have possibly our first true Jurassic Park III sequel.
I’m so relieved
Oh my GOD. Perfect choice, Godzilla '14 was amazing and a new Jurassic film with that elegant touch would be incredibly welcome. Between he and Koepp, this franchise is in good hands. What a blessing.
I'm a huge fan of Gareth Edwards, in my eyes he's the only younger director pushing the blockbuster medium forward. His understanding of how to incorporate heavy effects into on site footage is top notch.
Showing LOVE for my absolute FAVORITE channel period Thank You for another great video once again my friend Thank You man for seriously being on top of this seriously serious matter this is beyond huge news in my Life point blank I'm a 38yr old kid hahahaa I was 9 when I got to watch Jurassic Park in the theater for my birthday back in 1993 plus Jurassic Park is why I feel in love with dinosaurs but seriously Klayton Thank You for your channel you've truly helped me through the years understand the Jurassic Park Franchise on a way bigger scale thank you and have a blessed day everyone
Punctuation.
As long as it's dark and not goofy like the first 2 movies, Im ok with it
I was happy that Gareth Edwards would tackle Jurassic Park 7. A long time ago, I posted a poll on my UA-cam community page asking my audience who would be a great director for a future Jurassic World sequel, and Gareth Edwards was one of them. Little did I know he would be the one. Godzilla 2014 is my favorite Godzilla movie ever, and it made me a Godzilla fan today, all thanks to Gareth. Since Jurassic Park got me into filmmaking and Godzilla 2014 got me into Godzilla, it's incredible how the director of the latter is now involved with a Jurassic World sequel. I hope Gareth does this new movie justice!
This is the best JP news I've heard in years! Grounded is the best word to use and what I'm most excited about with him being the director finally we may get a serious JP movie
I’m really happy with this news. I wasn’t super thrilled when Leitch was announced, and I like Edwards a lot. I think his approach and sense of scale works a better with Jurassic Park
Godzilla 2014 is so underrated it’s awesome in my opinion it’s my third favorite movie of all time and my favorite Godzilla movie of all time tied with Godzilla minus one. I also really like rogue one and just the way he does movies in general so yeah I’m pretty stoked 😆😆😆😆😆🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I heard that Brian Cranston actually wants to start in a Jurassic Park movie
Bryan Cranston might have a better shot now staring in this film, since he was in Gareth Edward's Godzilla 2014 movie. If he gets the part, I wonder what kind of role Bryan would play in J7
Now we need him to focus more on the dinos instead of humans
Edit:So some people don’t understand that this is a joke so for you people I will like to kindly inform you: THIS IS A JOKE
The original Jurassic park focused on the humans
It needs balance. Not focus on one aspect.
@@joshuabunting882 it’s joke towards the new director as he produced Godzilla 2014 and Godzilla got a little amount of screen time
@@RogueT-Rex8468 yes
I'm sick of the Jurassic World movies revolving around Maisie Lockwood. I couldn't care less about her story. Jurassic World is supposed to be about dinosaurs
As a huge Jurassic fan, I hope this movie will become to this franchise like what Prey was to the Predator franchise.
Even the situation with their directors are sounding similar to me now.
Dan Trachtenberg proved his capability with 10 Cloverfield Lane and then directed a film for a franchise that desperately needed saving.
Gareth Edwards has proved his capabilities even more so than Trachtenberg has, having done more films, and now might help create a movie for a franchise that, while still successful financially, also kinda needs saving.
Who better to manage a dinosaur movir than the man who brought godzilla to America and you know he can do a serious story with Godzilla and Rogue one having grounded stories
I really hope the Spinosaurus returns in Jurassic World 4 !
… Gareth Edwards…?
… Now I’m hyped. Big fan of the guy.
Godzilla 2014 and Rogue One were one of my favorite movies growing up. I am really excited to see him back now directing a Jurassic film.
Gareth Edwards nailed Rogue One!
Its kinda hard to say they're rushing it. We really don't know how long they've had a completed script. It could be they've been ready for awhile but just holding back on production and they're now announcing it because they're ready to go into production.
There are other good canidates to direct J7, but getting Gareth Edwards for the spot is great, especially since it's short notice. Actually it couldn't be anymore perfect. I just love the prospect of having a director who actually did direct a movie about big-scary reptiles & other horiffic movie monsters. This would be right up Gareths ally.
It's kinda sad pointing out that his 2014 Godzilla movie did have more Jurassic Park inspiration than Collin Trevorow's the entire World trilogy. Klaiton was right though, I had to agree when I heard him mention about that part. But that's how you know he's just right for the job. & with David Koepp with his supposium prestine script... well anyway, that's a slamdunk shot all the way around.
Sure it would have been nice to have Steven Speilberg to make a comeback as director. I feel like if this project was really in desperate need for a film director, he probably might have stepped up to the plate & took another badda-badda swing at his beloved franchise once more, but yeah... he doesn't wanna direct movies anymore. So anyway yeah, bring on the guy who brought us the future king of the monsters. There ain't no doubt on my mind this movie will be bitchin either way.
Gareth Edwards is a good choice, I loved how he did Godzilla (2014) and how he did Rogue One (2016), especially the scene with the AT-AT on Scariff. He handled Godzilla well with my only complaint being that Godzilla kind of took a backseat and we didn't get to see him that often but felt like enough, if you know what I am trying to say?
The original writer of Jurassic Park and the director of Monsters/Godzilla/Rogue One… this is the most excited I’ve been for a Jurassic movie since the first Jurassic World film. GE is a master of slow burn monster films, as oppose to the Jurassic World film style. They could not have gotten a better director for this project!
Honestly I’m surprised by this since his last movie the creator underperformed at the box office.
Lets hope the Studios keep their grubby hands of the production and let Edwards do his thing. This movie could turn the franchise around.
Gareth doesn't have story/script input. David Koepp's screenplay was alrwady locked in before Edwards joined the production. It was reported that Universal was looking for a director who will just film the script they are given.
The film is in good hands. Godzilla and rogue one are good films. He also did a film called Monsters which is good too. I'm excited about this new film.
Great news, loved his work especially on rogue one
He’s my favorite director so seeing this news just made my year
Godzilla 2014 was pretty good, I’m a little more excited for it now
Edwards was a visual effects supervisor before he became a director, which is why his movies look so good!
IT'S A MIRACLE!!! I loved G14! He sure nailed the gritty realistic atmosphere of the film. Him portraying dinosaurs like that is bound to give a beautiful modern take of the Jurassic franchise
Another great video I hope this new movie will bring back the Jurassic park franchise
I like him, he worked for years in the British visual effects department before he directed Monsters which landed him the job directing Godzilla and then Rogue One and finally last year's The Creator. His last two films were both nominated for Oscars in vfx and sound, he is also a huge Jurassic Park fan, so I say the franchise is in good hands.
This good news! I like Edward’s and I loved Rogue One. My only concern is how fast Universal wants this done. I feel like them rushing this could unintentionally harm the movie.
I know it's kinda scary, but much of the work is done already. Who knows how long they've been working on this project & what all they've gotten done so far, but I think it's safe to assume there isn't more work to be done. Just shoot, direct, touch up the CGI a bit, don't fire any of Speilberg's team members & call it done.
@@user-uo6to5pj9f very true. Sounds like they were already planning this prior to Dominion coming out.
@BEW560 it had to be. I mean, there's already 1 tell-tale sign that they've been at this for quite a while. Dominion came out almost 2 years ago, but Jurassic Park Survival has a December release date for this year. These survival games take 3 or 4 years of development before completion; hell, Alien isolation alone took 6 years. Since the Park survival game is coming out relatively close to the same time as JP7, I think that it's a safe bet that they're gonna be somehow working in tandem with one another, & restructuring up the old prestige the first Park movies had in the beginning.
Sure, the game might have been in development longer than the movie has, but I think this & the upcoming film were both intended to complement one another
You can tell from godzilla 2014 how inspired he was by JP the helicopter sequence at the start reminded me of JP so much. Awesome director for Jurassic don't have high hopes for the story because I believe universal will have alot of control but atleast it'll look beautiful.
This is a hype choice, did a great job with Godzilla and Rogue One. He's a great visualist and doesn't stray into goofy territory.
Excellent news!!
Yes pls I hope he's finalized, I can already imagine how good the sound designs of the dinos and their behaviors would be portrayed. If he could do it with kaijus this would be home run... Hoping for it of course cus there's a chance it still could go bad 😅
I’m actually loving this. Whether you like his stuff or not, Edward’s 2014 Godzilla, Monsters and Rogue One were all very fantastical ideas but felt realistic & grounded which is exactly what JP needs to be again. He also balances amusement & seriousness in tone as well.
Now this is some good news!
I've been following his career since Monsters. Very excited for this.
Godzilla 2014 is one of my favorite Godzilla movies, so im hoping he'll do a masterful job with my other favorite monster franchise as well!
Hi Gareth! We believe in you. Do the fans proud.
I agree with your sentiments. I was thinking after the Leitch announcement that they still didn't get that Jurassic isn't a straight up action movie. I thought through who I would pick after Speilberg and P. Jackson and actually settled on Edwards believe it or not, so I'm glad to hear this. Fingers crossed! I want more Jurassic, but I want it to be great not mid
Good update.
I say than this guy is the perfect choice for the new Jurassic movie. After his amazing movies, Rogue One and especially Godzilla, I can see him doing it. Hopewell suspense and little scary elements. Can't wait
Even if this movie ends up as mid or bad, I’ll know for a damn fact Gareth will get the effects & atmosphere right.
Loved Rogue One and loved Godzilla (2014). I think Gareth Edwards is a great choice that really know how to put things to scale, he knows how to make you fell small against something monstrous, like the Death Star or Godzilla himself.
Outstanding
If Gareth Edwards does direct this film he will go down in history as the man directed Godzilla, Star Wars, And Jurassic Park!😮
R u dumb
I think this is fantastic. He's a brilliant director!!
I am hyped. Good time for us JP fans😊
I would love a 'Monsters' review! I became a walking advertisement for that movie when that came out!
I am keeping expectations low, but at least from a cinematography standpoint there are good signs here. Edwards sounds like a good fit
Fantastic choice!
I just got whiplash from you saying Rogue One was “boring.” To each their own, but damn, I thought Rogue One was (and still is) the best Star Wars film done under this Disney-era. It’s actually in my Top 3 SW films.
I’m a huge fan of Gareth’s work so far, and having him take on a Jurassic film seems like a great match. I adore the 2014 Godzilla, and yeah Gareth had a huge hand in overseeing the visual effects of that film given his VFX background. The guy knows his craft, and loves being hands-on with the visual effects of his films. I was very skeptical of Leitch, but I feel so much more comfortable with Edwards taking over.
Great coverage as always Klayton.
Honestly Rogue One might be my favorite star wars movie
As a Godzilla fan and a jp fan I can't wait
I’ve been saying it for ever. Gareth is the best choice for the Jurassic franchise going forward.
Because Gareth Edwards directed the Rogue One Vader hallway scene...he's a win in my book
