- What if the Spinosaurus was in Jurassic World Dominion? We got another T.rex battle with the Giga and since there was no hybrid in the movie I think this dinosaur could have returned and made a good connection to the park and BioSyn. Especially with Dodgson showing back up and the plot being tied into Site B with the Sanctuary island.

I personally wish the Spinosaurs had come back in Dominion. I'm team T-Rex all the way, but I'd love to see the Spinosaurs again and have it do something cool

Ma boi Spiny definitely should have been in there. No matter what you thought of JP3, the Spino has become one of the most iconic creatures in the whole franchise
they would have to find a way to explain why the specimen from Isla Sorna is so radically different compared to the more recent fossil examples paleos have found & what they now hypothesize of regarding how a spino lived its life, if it was truly amphibious or if it spent a majority of time on land, whether it was bipedal or quadrupedal, etc
@@ohjeezriles No they wouldn't. I mean CC didn't so why would JWD have to do the same ? It is pretty clear that in universe the Cretaceous Spino is a bipedal and mostly terrestrial predator (as you can see a fossil of it on Main Street and in Alan's tent, looking like the old 2000s representations with only slight differences with the InGen version)

@@valou-scaling example: in-universe, it makes perfect sense for Masrani (or Claire, to be honest) to have decided to display a spinosaur skeleton in a way that matches their animal - scientific accuracy be damned.
@dracoMeanz they've literally explained all inaccuracies away already in several movies. Why would they need to go out of their way to specify the differences for the spino? I'm pretty sure it was scientifically inaccurate when 3 came put anyways.
I‘m really starting to appreciate JP3‘s simple plot and short runtime. Yes the story could‘ve been better but it is what it is and in its core ot is a damn good non stop dinosaurs attack humans movie

@@Bagelgeuse I kinda have a bias for JP3 because back when I was young the Spino was my favorite dinosaur, and I would watch JP3 all the time (We had a DVD for it, I think I still have it, if it works is beyond me.) But yeah, I love how simple and easy it is. Great dino action, great setting, AWESOME looking dinos. What more can you want?!

Really did hope for the Spinosaurus to come back in Dominion, but I can understand why it didn’t.
Definitely would have been the perfect closure for the T-Rex and Spino feud had they teamed up together against the Giga.
I agree, think the Spinosaurus deserves a comeback in the movies. Maybe there will be an opportunity for that in a following series or film.
The funny thing is, Maul did show back up, and people loved it.
I think the return of Spino would be greatly appreciated by the fans. It was the only thing I liked about JP3, and it's bad that it hasn't shown up in movies since.
Yeah, Dominion was low on the on-screen kill count. Which is why I feel they gave it too much of a "fairy tale" ending.
It should've ended with the Spinosaurus attacking people at a lake and taking out a group of mercenaries. The ending that got made absolutely no sense and went against everything the franchise was about.
Maul was the equivalent of Rexy, Palpatine was the Spino
@juliancaraveo5700 that would have been a great post credit scene. Everything is peaceful, people frolicking, and then suddenly Spino erupts from the water and has a human shaped buffet.

Thats cause of the director wanting it to be “family friendly” which the entire series slowly became since people didn’t really die (fallen kingdom is the big exception of that trilogy).
The Spino is a far more intimidating villain than the Giga was, and that scene that you described of the old cast seeing the Spino behind a cage would have been excellent, but I think it could be improved. Imagine if the Spino was locked up in isolation due to being a little too wild and aggressive, and it doesn’t become a major threat until the power starts to go down and it makes the paddock destructible, much like what happened with Rexy in JP1, and it gets out and goes on a rampage.
“Shoulda, coulda, woulda” has certainly become Jurassic’s motto at this point.
Honestly wish he returned over the Giga. Or destroyed expectations that the Giga was going to be the Big bad only for the Spino to defeat it and return as the villian with a final showdown between it and Rexy. The look on Grant's face would have been priceless. Guess they could not have the Spino in it because they needed more Bug screentime :P

Hey Klayton! Just went to universal studios in Los Angeles and got to see some fun things, such as the original spinosaurus animatronic, the Tiger Velociraptors, cages and vans, and even the big camper van from the lost world. They have it all on the studio tour, which I highly recommend!

Well, you certainly made a genuinely _strong_ case here (👍). While I’m personally not loosing too much sleep over the Spino’s absence from “Dominion,” if it had been incorporated into that film like how you’re describing it, it _would’ve_ solved the ‘big bad’ antagonist dinosaur issue with that film IMO.
You know, after a year of thinking about Dominion, and being very confused and conflicted with the Film, I think the Spinosaurus should have definitely been in the movie.
There's a fan made alternate ending to Dominion on UA-cam where Spino comes to Rexys aid and they team up to take down the Giga. It's pretty awesome and has good use of music, worth checking out
Came right when I got notified Klayton! JP3 Spinosaurus will always be nostalgic for me as I was a kid when JP3 came out! After thinking about I definitely would’ve loved to see the Spino over the Giga, would tie JP3 more to the Jurassic World films plus would’ve been fun for Alan Grant to reunite with the dinosaur who attack him on Site B! :)

Also I completely agree with you on Alan Grant’s connection to the Spinosaurus. Imagine the look of horror on Grant’s face if he saw the very same creature that tried to kill him over twenty years ago.

I agree that the Spinosaurs should've made a grand comeback but not as the villain. I think the lingering dislike of him needs him to get a redemption. I found that the Therizinosaurus being in that final battle kinda weird...... but what if we got the Spinosaurs instead with him being hinted at as an unnamed apex carnivore with his roar in the distance to start really cluing you in before he shows up to brawl. Someone's already done both sketches AND animations for the revised final brawl and I found it WAY better then the letdown we got. Besides, I think that much like Rexy, the Spinosaurs may have mellowed abit with age and more tolerant of the old rex having been used to them on Sorna, perhaps even his injuries from the burns forcing him to mellow abit cause he's slowed down some. Btw, I think the Spinosaurs needs a proper name at last and only one comes to mind. He's an Egyptian dinosaur, looks like a crocodile, biggest predator there is there so it'd be pretty unaffected by anything else like a prehistoric deity....... call him Sobek after the Egyptian god, nothing better fits him.
I'd wager Spinosaurus should be something like Venom. Not a hero or villain but just something that'll wreck or inject fear/trouble whichever is the situation. Having it's own sequence in the river destroying a bunch of military boats (foreshadowing the JP3 alternate ending) and causing havoc near the Biosyn port or something.
I gotta say, one of the reasons I was so excited for Dominion was the return of the Spino. If you replace the Giga with the Spinosaurus and actually give it antagonistic participation in the film, your looking at a far more nostalgic and relatable film that I would favour far more than what we got.
It would also settle this proluge business, we already had the fight in three ( the one that the more people actually watched ) and would also save you all that palientological inaccuracy in the prolouge.
The Spino definitely should have made an appearance in Dominion. It was such a missed opportunity not to include it. Everybody wanted it back, and yet for some reason they didn't deliver. I enjoyed it's appearance in Camp Cretaceous, but I really want to see the Spinosaurus in live action again.
I think the Spinosaurus read the script of Jurassic World Dominion and declined the part. And so Giga was written in the movie in place of the Spinosaurus.
This is probably the most logical conclusion. The entire Jurassic World trilogy was garbage.
Honestly he's my favourite dinosaur no matter what thoughts on jp3 I loved the mystery of them, the happiness I felt they had him in the series.

Honestly it would've been nice to see the jp3 spinosaurus as suprise dinosaur during the final battle or if they would mention about the spinosaurus in the beginning of the movie where they were having that tour scene along with the Gigantosaurus and then later on the spinosaurus shows up in the final battle to help rexy and the theri fight against the giga but instead of maybe having it a three vs one maybe theri dies and spinosaurus has to come in to help take down the giga while rexy is trying to recover which would've made more sense. It probably would be like that one fan made video in a way or even the same battle as that one fan made video animation I enjoyed with those four

Great video on what if Spinosaurus returned in Jurassic World Dominion and nice analysis and great idea of what if the Spinosaurus returned in Jurassic World Dominion and if it did show up in Jurassic World Dominion then it would played a different role in the movie and it would definitely meet the Rex and the other dinosaurs in the franchise so that would be really cool in my opinion.

I remember when i was in the cinema watching dominion and the final battle was about to go down I was like 100% convinced that the spino will appear to 2v1 giga with rexy especially after that dimetrodon sail tease.
I definitely wish we had another spinosaurus cameo, and while I don’t think it should’ve done anything like kill the trex, giga, or theri, I think it’s just be fun to see the spin-off back again.
I did read somewhere that after the events of the Hurricane and the downfall of Ingen after Jurassic Park and The Lost World, the Masrani Company took over Isla Sorna and made the Spinosaurus, which is why you hear Grant say in JP3 after the Spinosaurus attacked in response to Billy asking, "I don't remember it being in Ingen's list?" And then Grant replies with, "It's because it wasn't on their list"
Spinos fan base seems to be much larger now then it was in the post JP3 era
Spinosaurus got done dirty
I think bringing it back as a wild card in the plot would have been cool. If it was a 3rd contender for the power struggle between rex and giga. Personally, i would have built a script of it being behaviorally flawed due to wreckless bioengineering and injury/trauma(burned from JP3 and mind controlled from CC). So perhaps Ramsey would touch base on it near its Paddock and discuss why it is the only dino restrained on the island. It could have sequences with Grant that showcase a bitter rivalry from JP3, something that the creature had since the start of that film because of the plane wreck. Ultimately it could have gotten loose and had a rampage sequence while pursuing Grant, an opportunity for the human characters to be heroic and supportive to build the emotional plot. The spino could have been a solid replacement for the therizino for the big end movie rumble, ending with two fan favorites parting ways after defeating the new big bad.
However, my gripe with the movie as it exists is the giga was a bully, not a formidable predator. Nothing in the plot justifies an intimidating presence. It gets a single kill in the modern plot. An already terminally doomed, half burned bug. If i had directional control of the film, I would have had the giga stack bodies. A confrontation with another predator like a carno ending in bloodshed, later a couple of human caused deaths, perhaps a small protagonist in the film like Ramsey or the redeemed Dr. Wu. As the plot advances, the theri could get involved near the end, but despite its raw power, be swiftly dealt with by the giga to prove it isn’t something to be taken lightly. When the audience begins to hate the nature of the giga, when we have had to suffer the damage it has wrecked on our beloved characters, I would release the spino. A flawed monster, the misunderstood beast to join the fray and help the rex eliminate a beast we spent half the film building to be an unacceptable addition to the environment. In a way, it could be symbolic that the animal restrained and oppressed due to being misunderstood is a better addition to the island than the pride of the bioengineers who do not fathom the flaws of their own creations. To end the film with the suggestion that "Nature knows best and humans know little." Would be a good compliment to the "coexist" message that we received in the actual film.
I think it would be much better to add Spinosaurus in it,maybe even retcon or explain things a bit. However,I also think there should be more build ups.
Here are my ideas.
1.The retcon or explanation:
Maybe when Grant recounted his encounter with Spinosaurus,he would theorize that Spinosaurus chased them mostly out of vengeance,maybe Spinosaurus was hurt by the guns or planes,maybe even had its offspring killed by the mercenaries. As for the “Spino hunted T.rex” stuff. I might just completely retcon it or giving extra details.
Ex. In fact,the relationship between T.rex and Spino is not one-sided. Spinosaurus would seek out T.rex,while T.rex would also seek out Spinosaurus.
2.The Build-ups:
There would be several scenes that dedicated to Rexy living in Biosyn Sanctuary. In the first such sequence,we see her striding,hunting,drinking or even sleeping. In the second scene,we would see Rexy sensing something different and actively seek out the threat,and come into contact with a newly-arrived Spinosaurus,which was eating a dead Iguanodon (Juvenile). The Spinosaurus was bigger and stronger than the individual in JP3. The two started a fierce fight after a brief intimidation display. At first,both were evenly matched,but after a while, Rexy managed to utilize her experience to overpower the Spinosaurus. Wounded and defeated, the Spinosaurus decided to retreat as Rexy roared in triumph and claimed the carcass. The wounded Spinosaurus than found its shelter in the wetland area of Biosyn Sanctuary.
In the third scene,Rexy managed to kill a Quetzalcoatlus. However,before she could eat,she sensed another new comer,this time,the challenger is non other than the Giganotosaurus. As the theropods started to battle,the Spinosaurus overheard the fight while catching prehistoric fish in the wetland,the Spino growled in response......
Later, when Ramsey guided Grant and Statler,Ramsay would claim that Rexy was the previous alpha of the valley,who managed to drive away a Spinosaurus on her own,until the introduction of Giganotosaurus, in which the Giant Southern Lizard drove away both Rexy and Spino while expanding its territory,becoming the new alpha. The Giganotosaurus was also stated to be quite aggressive and territorial.
3.The Battle:
The Therizinosaurus would be killed by Giganotosaurus prior to the final battle, as it accidentally ran into the Giganotosaurus during the forest fire,the provoked Giganotosaurus than attacked the unfortunate dinosaur. After a scuffle, Giganotosaurus managed to overpower Therizinosaurus and kill it. Later on, when Biosyn started to herd the dinosaurs,we would see the Giga feasting on the dead Therizinosaurus before being forced to abandon the corpse and head toward Biosyn Sanctuary. We could also see Rexy and Spino started to move toward the Sanctuary.
As for the climatic battle, first it would be Rexy vs Giga,with Rexy managed to gain an upper hand at first,but was overwhelmed by the Giga later, Giganotosaurus knocked Rexy out cold and later challenged the Spinosaurus. Spinosaurus could hold its own pretty well at first before it too was knocked down by the Giga. Just then,Rexy awakened(During the awakening scene,the images of Cretaceous Rexy,which was resting, would briefly overlap Modern Rexy) and attacked Giga again. Rexy and Spino formed a temporary team to fight Giganotosaurus. After the Clash of Ages, Giganotosaurus was overwhelmed by the two classics, Spinosaurus rammed down Giga,and Rexy gave the killing blow as the nearly fatal wounded Giga struggled to get up.
In the aftermath,Rexy met Buck and Doe,while Spinosaurus adopted two juvenile Spinosauruses.
man i miss the spinosaurus, i say that as i was born the same year the movie came out lol. when i saw dominion i was really hoping that the spinosaurus would appear to join in the fight. it would've been so interesting to see it team up with the tyrannosaurus against the giga.

Spiny was the reason I saw it in the theater. The Lego sets had released so early in stores, and I should have known that the T-Rex and Indoraptor would once again be the only big bads. 😢

I think the Spinosaurus has had its day and anyone who says otherwise is off with the fairies. We sat on Spinosaurus for 14 years when JP3 was the final film. It is still the only creature to have replaced the Rex on the cover (Though I think it was stupid of Universal to change it back to a T Rex in later releases of the third film) I'm not fussed if we don't see it again. No other animal has had that treatment.
The Spinosaurus is my favorite 😁 I really hoped that they would bring her back. Hopefully in a future movie 🙏

I think if they brought back the spinosaurus in Dominion I think it would have probably been put in some sort of scene whether with the giga or Rexy.
If it was in Dominion, I have no doubt it would've been a Batman v Superman/ Godzilla vs. Kong scenario where the two would team up against a bigger threat, i.e. the Giganotosaurus.
First of all, the Giga ain't bigger than Spinosaurus.
Spino's size in Camp Cretaceous is officially bigger than Giga.
Second, Zeb ain't stronger than Spino.
He has absolutely no feats that put him above Spino
Third, Spino being the bug bad makes more sense than a team up
@@spider-man500 Fair point. Since you brought it up, that's one of biggest problems with Dominion; they made Giga out as " the largest carnivore ever". The director even stated he wanted it to be like a dino Joker. But, compared to the Spino, or even the Indominus, the Giga doesn't seem as dangerous, let alone monsterous.

@@spider-man500bruh, Spino is equal to Rexy, Collin Trevorrow saying the Spinosaurus being the strongest was just his opinion. And it was going to be a punching bag for the Giga in the original script before Rexy saved him.
At this point it is a what-if although an entertaining what-if. It’s why people love to speculate, almost like creating tiny bits of fan fiction within one’s head.

The spino is my absolute favorite and I wish the spino could have been in dominion, even if the trex got its revenge on it. I know it made an appearance in camp Cretaceous but still I wanted this badly

The spino from jp3 is my favorite dinosaur of the series and ngl even if they would have brought it back just to be killed by rexy it would of made me happy just to see it back on the big screen.

I think I’d have liked Spinosaur taking the place of Therizosaurous. You could have a background snippet where it’s revealed the Spinosaur’s eyes were damaged by the river fire in 3, leaving it mostly blind and so still have that creepiness of the blind monster in the forest. So far as apex predators, the Spino is really iconic even if it didn’t have a great movie it starred in. So the final film of the two trilogies pairing it and the Rex together to kill the giga would have been pretty awesome and make it feel like the Spino wasn’t just being included so it could die to Rexxy this time.
I’d love to see the Spino included in any way, but my heart wants it to be in a way that makes it something you can feel excited for the same way you get excited for the Rex scenes in pretty much any movie.

The answers to your questions can be summed up pretty easily. They didn’t care about us. That’s the answer. Collin Trevorrow never cared about making good Jurassic movies. He cared about the cash grab. The spinosaurus is my favorite of all of the JP dinosaurs and I’d have loved to see it return. Though, Trevorrow and his lazy writers would have just killed it for no real reason other than fan service.
Having Grant and the Spiny Boi reunite onscreen would've been iconic.
Viva la spino king of Isla Sorna, also the comparison to Darth maul made me really happy since they're my two favorite characters from their respective franchises, also the idea of Darth maul riding a jp3 spinosaurus its epic, granted a carnotaurus fits him much better on multiple levels but it would still be sick either way
When I saw the sail of the dimetrodon I gasped and got so exited. Then briefly I was let down, I so wanted to see the spino again. It would have been cool to tie in the fact that biosyn saying they have created dinosaurs in their purest form and then the JP3 spino as well

I really wish the spino had come back. But the JW movies straight up gave the finger to 2 and 3. Remember in the first one when the t Rex smashed through the spino skeleton before the final fight? Then for JW 2&3 they say the second and third movies are no longer canon, which they only did so FK could have a plot.
People really hated that the spino killed the t Rex. I think they also didn't want to risk it.

What they should’ve done with Dominion was, replace the Therozino with the Spinosaurus, and have the big bad dinosaur of the film be a second, cloned Indominus Rex created by Biosyn, and have the T-Rex and Spino fight the Indominus at the end. Spino gets redemption, the big bad dino isn’t just some Giga trying to live it’s life, win-win😂

If Spinosaurus was going to be in Dominion, it should be in a flashback scene on MantaCorp Island (or Isla Sorna since there's an ongoing debate whether it's the same Spinosaurus) where BioSyn mercs were trying to locate and capture the Spino. It should take place in the river where it destroys the military boat (a reference to the alternate JP3 ending) and causes dozens of casualties and destruction to where they called off the mission. Biosyn retreats and realizes that something that caused an ecosystem collapse on Sorna would probably do the same in the mainland sanctuary. This would have explained why it wasn't in the mainland beautifully.

I love the Darth maul comparison since Darth maul actualy got used in Star wars the clone war animated series, in star wars rebels, there was rumor of him in Mando, book of boba fett, Kenobi and in the upcoming Ashoka series... We even saw his face at the end of a starvwars movies as a plot twist! (I wont say wich tho) They saw potential in him and pushed it. The Spino could have get the same and i would havebeen awesome!
I saw an animatic someone made here on UA-cam that honestly hyped me tf up at how Dominion could have ended.
I mean- if it had showed at the very end only… with an entrench and end like that. No one would care. It would have come with a massive bang.
A subtle nod via a shadow or a very distant roar sometime prior during the movie to set it up like they did Roberta in JW would have been amazing.
Can you imagine a scene like this?
The group lands in the sanctuary and begin their hike- the pilot is carefully leading them through (because she seems to know a lot about the place I guess).
They pick their way through the underbrush, eyes peeled for threats and have a mini jump scare from something small or harmless.
As they calm themselves over this little incident- they hear a distant roar and all of them look up.
Claire: (staring stiffly in the direction it came from- a look of fear in her eyes) what…. Was that…?
Pilot: (likewise looks confused) I don’t know… (very slow as she knows what she’s about to say is wrong) T. rex…?
Owen: no….. sounds bigger.
Pilot: (whispers) giga…
Claire: what?
Pilot: (keeps walking) nothing. Let’s move. I don’t want to get a confirmation on that. More than one apex in this place and I don’t want to be here for it.
((They continue on and leave the audience who KNOWS that’s no Gigi hyped and waiting))

After watching this video, I’m now convinced that the Spinosaurus return in the Biosyn valley would have been epic and it would’ve made Jurassic World Dominion so much better.
We can all agree that,

I’m honestly glad they didn’t put the spino in Dominion, there’s no way they could’ve avoided a fight scene with Rexy and they’re never going to kill off Rexy. I don’t want to see the spino die.

It would also make JPIII retroactively relevant, other than being very intense and thrilling.
I think they should have had the Spinosaurus replaced the Therizinosaurus in the final battle to help the Rex and end with them moving away from each other out neutral respect so that neither die and cause more harm, to recon JP3.
Would've been awesome seeing the Spino in dominon. Separated from the main population cause of its high levels of aggression. Grant hearing its roar from a distance and having some ptsd from it.
I have been waiting for years for JW dominion only to find out they didnt add spino like they did him dirty.

Get Klayton on the writing team for these movies man. He knows exactly what would be good, not only as a fan, but as an objective movie enjoyer. You make some really good points, Universal needs this kind of perspective, rather than a bunch of people following the path Hollywood's been on for the last 5 or 6 years.
With camp cretacious being animated its just so hard to consider that canon

I am glad that they did not have the Spino in the movie because they would of just had the Trex kill it. That's the extent of there creativity.
Spinosaur is under rated...
after part 2 it wasn't anymore about the adventure and new dinosaurs it just became hey these are Big killing machines and we're going to add some in for fan service and then we're just going to try to add a huge budget and make everything CGI
Jurassic Park 3 was probably the last time that they used some animatronics all the scenes they used it for are the best scenes out that movie
What would be cool to see is a film on isla sorna and how the spinosaurus and other dinosaurs helped cause ingen to abandon the island. I havent read the books or anything so im sure im missing something lol
I still think it was a huge missed opportunity not having the Buck Trex showing up and fighting the Spinosaurus as it rescues Rexy.
You know it was the saddest part world Dominion had potential to eliminate and erase all the bad things that Jurassic world 2 did
it had a chance to show us how the dinosaurs were going to interact with modern Life and then it made it to peaches and cream and made them all get along kumbaya which is unrealistic the closest we got to that was Jurassic Park Lost world

Klayton I love this video you made tell you the truth I'm a JP3 fan and the spinosaurus is my favorite dinosaur would love to see the spinosaurus in Jurassic world Dominion instead fighting Rexy I want to see them fighting together against zeb the giga and after they killed the giga alongside therzio they live in peace so yeah I would love to see the spinosaurus but I'm pretty sure they will bring him back in the series someday and I would love to see the other fans respect the spinosaurus from JP3 so love the video keep up the good work Klayton 👍❤
