I love that they spend 7 episodes establishing that Mike normally will absolutely refuse to let anyone pass without the correct amount of stickers, but as soon as his daughter in law is on the phone, he lets someone go by without paying. Immediately establishes what we know from Breaking Bad. He's someone who will compromise his principles if his family needs him.

Jimmy and Howard, you mean? I agree. It allows the audience to fill in the blanks. And they might fill in those blanks differently after the end of the season.
I loved that choice too. You, the audience, wanted to know what they were talking about and only had the gestures to go on, and they made a point of making the body language very clear that what Jimmy was hearing was bad news. And as if to just affirm it, Howard says to reassess in 6 months.
Retirement homes do this across the country. They have little "stores" where they provide people with items, so the elderly person doesn't have to leave to go shopping for minor items. Overcharging for this is practically how all of them operate. Sometimes it's just a few cents, but other times it's several dollars worth more expensive than it should be. Preying upon the elderly is so common. It's disgusting. If you have to place a parent or grandparent in a retirement home, then take them everything they need, don't let them do it through the retirement facility.
To some extent it's understandable. They're providing a convenience, and it's really beneficial for the elderly person not to have to make a trip to the grocery store because it takes so much more effort for them compared to an average person. So upcharging a bit for those items is fair enough. But they don't upcharge a bit, then double/triple/quadruple the price and try to scam people for every last dollar they can get. There are so many predatory businesses out there. I bet they hate it when a relative brings the retiree all of the items they need, and I bet they really hate how easy it is to do that these days with Amazon deliveries. Now I wonder what it'll be like in the future when all the retirees are tech friendly and can order whatever they need online. I guess the retirement homes will just jack up their up-front rates if they can't have their side business of scamming their customers.
Yeah, preying on the elderly is in the same boat as preying on children in my mind. Its why, despite any discomfort I might have, I try to be kind and patience towards young and old people.
Regarding jeans and their relative comfort. It wasn't until the recent fashionability of "skinny jeans" that men's jeans were skin tight. They were absolutely more comfortable to wear than a full business suit.
For guys, IF you have to be wearing pants (as opposed to shorts) then jeans are a great option. We aren't wearing tight/fashion jeans, they are less susceptible to staining, and we don't care as much if they do get some dirt or a spill on them.
@@iwillcry I don't own any sweat pants, and I'll usually wear some gym shorts. I have some flannel pajama pants, but I was meaning if you had to wear actual pants. If that's the case, some loose fitting jeans are the first choice.
Better Call Saul (especially in the early seasons) is more laid back than Breaking Bad. But it is definitely as well worth watching as Breaking Bad was and is.
This might be with some benefit of hindsight, but it's kinda sad to me how Howard likely intends "Charlie Hustle" as a compliment, but Jimmy can only take it as an insult, and I honestly can't blame him.
In many ways, the writing of BCS is better than BB. They had the constant obstacle of not messing up the story we already know will happen in the future. It gets even better.
I get that they had to make it out as HHM being the bad guys for not hiring him, but the only reason they would have even considered him would have been nepotism. They're a top law firm and he went to a super unknown correspondence school. They wouldn't have hired him if he had just applied out of the blue and they didn't know him.
I absolutely agree with both of you in regard to your synopsis of the show and the story. We are seeing a story slowly unfold as maple said. And breaking bad was just constant over the top problems and issues. Now that we’ve already gone through that breaking bad experience. It’s great that we can go back and enjoy this experience of Better Call Saul with better and slower pacing. In my opinion, BCS is a superior show.
They really can't be compared, since you can't have one without the other. And yet people still do. If they stood alone, I'd take BB. The fact is it stands as the classic GOAT show, and nothing has changed that.
To be fair he just became an attorney and HHM is considered one of the most prestigious firms in the area. Jimmy thinking he could get a job there right off the bat was unrealistic. 6 months for reconsideration is honestly a very short amount of time. So he shouldn't have taken that as a slight.
Nope. Large firms higher new attorneys all the time. How do you think first time attorneys get experience in the first place? Also note they hired Kim right after she passed the bar.
@@havok6280 I mean considering jimmys past I think it was fair for Chuck to remain hesitant and wait to see if jimmy was gonna fall back into his old ways.
