So happy for you guys. One man's junk is another man's treasure.
Daniel, it is a multi-function wood wooding tool. It is a table saw, router table, drill press, lathe, plane. You can make just about anything wood based with the tool-set. It is worth at least 5,000.00 dollars.
My eyes about popped out of my head when I saw it.
Daniel, keep the Shop Smith. My dad bought one in 1962. I used it often late 1960's to 1980's. It does so much, and is tough. My dad died years ago, and it was stored in our garage. I sold it 2 years ago for $4,000. Now I wish I never sold it.
My friend's husband bought one back in 1980 and paid over$3000.00 on a special sale. He made her a crib, youth rocking chair, a rocking chair for her and a lot of kitchen furniture and cabinets. And so much more.
Saving stuff didn't come from WWII surviors - it came from the depression - my mother saved EVERYTHING - 27 coffee pots, 5 trashbags of butter dishes just to name a few. My son (50) had a pocket fishing pole. That barn isn't old - I'm 72 and I don't consider myself old.
My parents too! Dad was born in 26 and Mom in 29.
My gran was born in 1904 She also lived through the deperiod I'm Literally the only person in my friend group And the only person in my family, including my aunts and cousins who were all 10 to 20 years older than me, who actually knows how to darn a sock.
Weston isn't the "NEW GUY" He's an old friend of ours and we're very fond of him ...Glad to see you Weston...You're going to be a big help.
A lot of the older World War II veterans were also survivors of the Great Depression, as my Father was. He did save everything, but he was also a neat freak, so our garage was very organized and labeled. He knew exactly where everything was and always used from his saved things before buying new. He was an orphan and a young teen trying to finish High School working nights as a dish washer in a restaurant and living in a boarding house. When the depression happened, his restaurant closed, so he lost his income and his room, no more High School. He finished High School after he retired and even went to College. Those old World War II veterans were strong and special.
I knew immediately what that pocket fisherman was. I remember TV commercials for that when I was young. Also that shopsmith is worth a great deal even if just for parts to repair or refurbish other old models like that. Maybe you could hold a “Make an offer sale” and let people come to salvage what they want and make you an offer on lots of stuff. Would be better than it going to landfill or scrapped.
Ronco! They were very popular in the '70s and early '80s!
Ron Popeil’s father designed the Pocket Fisherman, sold by Ronco (Ron’s company) i am from Canada and remember this from the ‘70’s
That old barn would make a great framed photo! This is exciting. Congratulations on your purchase!
I thought the same thing DeeJay could really take some great pictures!
Painted picture too!
Yes before it's torn down get it in print!!
Daniel! Those antique tools are going to be very collectible! Put them on e-bay! I promise you won’t be disappointed!😊
Right ! So much money
Same with the barn wood and tin roofing
I agree, I was going to mention the barn wood. People like that.
You are absolutely right Kim!!!
My husband would have been in heaven over that band saw!!
The Pocket Fisherman used to be advertised on TV when I was a kid. I’m 66 now! Congrats on your purchase.
CogHill’s flowers were generations old. So are your flowers. That is awesome.
Congratulations! Those lattice panels in the barn could be used on a wall for displaying merchandise.
That barn would make an AMAZING back drop for photos!! The metal would make a cool wall in your new warehouse! I saw so many cool things you could do with the stuff!
At the front of the warehouse, you could have a focus wall made of the reclaimed barn wood and then put all the antiques on display in front of it. That along with a document or plaque explaining the history of the homestead would be like having a mini museum and would preserve the items historically. Also, don’t forget to take pictures before you tear down buildings also to go on the wall.
Great idea.
No need to take home those pieces. People pinch anything these days. They safer at the homestead where they living.
That's a great idea
@@kathleenconte3360 There wouldn’t be that many people going into the warehouse.
@@patriciabrown6754 its by the main road. Lots of traffic plus snoopers to steal. Better off at their home, where people and cameras catch everything
KEEP THE SHOP SMITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its a multi purpose wood working machine. It's a table saw, band saw. drill press, disk sander and lathe. They're all kinds of attachments for it.
When the daffs are blooming you know spring's coming.
The lattice in the old barn is actually in pretty good shape
Old homestead sites are just packed with old treasures, from the plants to the collectibles to the wells. That generation was a gift to the world.
Congratulations guys. I can see Weston living over the warehouse and enjoying the 3 acres with the crossbow lol. He would be built in security for you. Save him on rent too. 😊🎉❤🏴🇬🇧
I had the same idea.
He should pay rent. He’s an adult lol. My parents would save all the money and give it to us when we got ready to buy our own place they gave us the money back to use to purchase the house.
It would also be good for security if Weston lived on the property
The thought went through my head of Weston having a small house there. Congratulations and on to a new adventure 😀
This is an awesome idea if he wants it.
That garage rocks!!! I’m 72 yrs young… lovin that garage!!!!🤪
I know who would probably love to go through all that old stuff and that’s Jason from Cog Hill. That stuff would look awesome hanging up in a barn with his grandpa’s tractor.
Congratulations Arms Family. Some day you may need to add a production facility to the warehouse and produce your own merch. A ShopSmith was like a Swiss Army Knife of power tools. I believe they are still manufactured. It put all of the major power tools a shop would need on a single platform. The pocket fisherman was a huge sensation back in the day of early TV. And yes, children of the depression threw nothing away. My father was a pack rat of the first order.
That barn is simply awesome. This is going to be an awesome source of content for years to come.
Absolutely - I bought a Shopsmith lathe with umteen attachments and it's been a very useful, uncomplicated machine. Get your son, Western (your new Farm Manager) a set of instructions and he'll have that machine figured out in no time at all !! Guaranteed !!
Yes those Shop Smiths are awesome Daniel. They basically area a motor that you can add attachments to like a table saw, Band saw, lathe. ect ect...They are really cool machines and yes they are worth some money to right people. The more attachments you have the more they are worth by looking at what you have there you have a bunch of attachments and is prob worth a couple thousand dollars..Personally I would keep it and get it running. You know the old saying...They dont make them like that anymore...That applies here.
I totally agree with you! I would keep it too
That Pocket Fisherman is a real find !!!! A collectors item !!!And it will handle a good sized fish !!!
I hope you can keep the big trees out front . Fix the old house up for Weston and he can be on site guard!
You should take a picture of the old barn for a beautiful picture of the property history. Get it framed and put it in the new Merchant building.
You'd be surprised how much valuable tools and shop equipment you have.
Yes lots of work but lots of “junk” and tools people will be glad to get. Don’t just throw stuff away. Please.
@@stevedoty5841 yes when they opened the garage door I saw a lot a old tools that aren’t going to make you rich but you could definitely sale a lot of that stuff please don’t throw away those old tools please
The fact that you’re keeping it in the family is awesome!
This is so exciting! I bet some of those old tools would sell really well on eBay. Look forward to this new journey with y’all!
My grandfather had a pocket fisherman. wonderful memories.
Ron Popeil was the inventor of the pocket fisherman. They work great. I had one as a kid
There sure is a lot of history there! Maybe someone has photos of what it used to look like. I think it would be neat to keep that kind of memorabilia. Maybe pictures of all the buildings now and what it looks like when your finished. I guess you'll take videos but I still like photos to hang. I'm so Happy for you Daniel and DeJay!
That Shop-Smith is a wood workers treasure, it is a multipurpose wood tool (table saw, router, lathe and a plywood ripping saw). Mine cost $2,000. in 1978. A lot of treasure there, great asset and investment Daniel, De-Jay & Arms family. I use to make a lot of picture frames using old barn & fence boards for painters for myself and others (pictorial oil, Arcylic and pastel art work). May your barns continue to be filled!
The ShopSmith is worth a great deal of money. It's many tools in one, table saw, lathe, etc. I can remember them selling for several thousand dollars back when I was a kid and I'm now 65.
Yes,my Dad paid 1300 for his over 50 years ago,he bought it with extra attachments
Those antiques are priceless
Looks like an excellent place to get bit by a spider!
So much history to tell your children. Make sure and document. You'll be glad you will be able to look back on this day with a big smile. Love you guys!
It's good to see Weston back on here with the family.
Congratulations on your new properly
Glad it's you who has to do the cleanup, but look at all the treasures you'll find. A good work project for Weston,
God Bless
Popeil's Pocket Fisherman! A 1963 classic.
PLEASE WARE GLOVES! I have cleaned up places like this and GLOVES ARE A MUST! CONGRATS on expanding!
My father grew up through the Great Depression era and served in WWII and Korea in the Navy and he didn't throw much out that could be repurposed,he was not a pack rat but he would just look at something before he got rid of it to see if it could be re-used/re-purposed and occasionally after awhile if he hadn't needed or used it he'd haul it to the dump or ask friends if they might want or need it,it's not a bad habit to have sometimes.
A lot of those old tools are worth some coin, lots of collectors out there, you might want to sell them on ebay, etc. That Shop Smith is worth some serious coin! That old barn would make for a great photography back drop!
Oh yeah, I remember The Shop Smith were some serious $$$$, not cheap! And any carpenter or mechanic would love to have it in their shop!
@@HensOnly my husband is one of those people who would dearly love to have one and as a woodworker, he already has a ton of tools, lol.
Wow!!! THE most stimulating video we’ve seen in recent memory.
We’re 64 and 68 years old and have buildings full of this stuff!!🤣
Please take care while picking through this property. I know you guys will. ❤
Congratulations on your acquisition. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I wish you could save the antique home. So precious.
That’s a cool looking area with some history.
Congratulations Arms family !! It will be a lot of work preparing for the build but the outcome will be worth it. Can't wait to see the final results.
Congratulations guys!!! A beautiful piece of Arms family history staying in the family... Winston's going to really earn his money now!!
Great description
It’s Weston
@@shaneprice9901 My Bad... sorry.
Now I just want to refer to him as Winston, hahaha
Awesome homestead with a great family history to it. You cannot beat that.congrats!!!
I love it ,and glad you got a peace of history !!
The garage reminds me of my Dad's "treasure house" as we called it. My parents didn't throw much away either for sure.
Glad the plans for the warehouse and merchandise store is coming together
It’s a nice piece of property but man it’s gonna take a lot to clear it out but it will be great once it is done
Congrats on the new property. Looking foward to the new warehouse build.
Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for y'all. There's nothing better than going through all that "old" stuff. I remember when they advertised that pocket fisherman on TV 🤣. Knew immediately what it was.
My dad had 1 of those fishing poles.
So happy for you
Looks like everything you can’t live without!
You may want to hold onto that Shop Smith. It was advertised as a five in one tool that didn't take very much space. Table saw, horizontal boring, drill press, lathe, and a large sanding disk. The band saw attachment was on the tool, and if he bought it, there may be a jointer attachment as well. The machine will convert to each tool setup in a matter of minutes, and might be useful making tables, shelving, and dividing walls for the warehouse. I grew up making a lot of stuff on Dad's Shop Smith. The other bandsaw might be worth a little money to someone that wants to get the rust off it, as well.
X2.
I have a shop Smith from the 60's i inherited from my father, very versatile table saw.
That one looks to be newer, maybe late 70's/80's.
Separate tools is always more convinient, more comfortable and more usefull than these crossbreads between shovel and cofemaker.
@@delta_glider4362 Yes, that is true. That is why I have separate machines in my shop now. The thing is, he has this now, and if it works, it can save him a lot of money as they get the warehouse up and running, plus it doesn't take as much space as they are building.
@@msack6904 My Dad's was from about 1959, and my brother has it now.
@@michaelsherwin4964 >he has this now,
He didn't. Yet. He was saying "she gonna look if some one want it". Means - owner will check if she can sell it.
Daniel, please don’t take down that barn. It is so cool looking and a lot of history. Could be a great restore for the future. Glad Weston is on board. He should be a great asset.
I love to paint old barns. Went around taking pictures of old barn. Painted most in oil and acrylic. Now I'm in a wheelchair for the last 17 years. Man hit me and took off.
I love ole barns and houses. I’d love to rummage through the remnants of that.
I’m a baby boomer, came from WWII Depression era genetics. All the old ones were collectors as mom used to say.
They all had more stuff then Carter has little liver pills,(my dad used to say).
Congratulations are the new property. Looking forward to the progress.
It’s great that you found property for your warehouse
I love ‘the new guy’. Weston’s hair is awesome. Just like his mom.
This is quite funny as last year I moved into a 100 year old farm house. I am still clearing out rubbish. Also waiting to get roof fixed, as I sometimes get free showers 🤣
I'm enjoying it, and think Daniel will get into his project too 👍
You guys got alot of clean up to do , good that Weston is back to help you'all ! That old barn wood is saleable , people use it for renovation s all the time , looks great on interior walls ! God Bless
You need to do like a compound bartering back like the old days. We all need to do this in this world instead of the big stores getting richer the little guys make a big impact on our communities ♥️🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️ best of luck wish I was close I would volunteer my time to help you make your dreams come true
As my late husband would say and I agree
You have a gold mine. We love old stuff and that's what I have. Was new now not.
That old barn is beautiful!
Congrats on your treasure property!
Thanks AFH..... Many old treasures to remind folks of the past !!!
Congratulations Daniel n DJ !! Weston you've got a great job!! You guys probably could make some money off this stuff!! Somebody's junk is someone else's treasure !! Lol !! Love n Bless you all!!
A little advice on the bushes in the fences around: don’t cut down any bushes until you get the former owner to tell you if they’re flowering bushes and the you might want to salvage or leave so you can enjoy.
The plants around the fence line are day lilies.
My daddy has a ShopSmith. He made lots of furniture for our house when I was a kid. I think my brother has it now.
I remember the infomercial for the Pocket Fisherman! LOL! It is still sold on Amazon under the Ronco Pocket Fisherman. The original commercial is on UA-cam on the MemoryMuseum channel.
The old cellar can be used as a bunker. Those treasures will be worth something, take them home and use as ornaments, be worth more once Houston grows up. Might even be able to make a museum. 😊
Great to see your expanding, even if this property is for merch. Those fruit trees could be hard pruned to give fruit once more.
What a bonus you have there!
Congratulations on the purchase.
Bunker is a great idea!
You, Dutch and Kevin are all doing the real estate thing.
Who is Kevin?
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you both. And I'm looking forward to watching your video's clearing the property and building your new shop. God Bless You All Always! ❤
Love the small old barn. Don't tear that down.
LOVE IT that y'all bought the old homestead!!! Can't wait to see what all you do with it....hopefully step by step videos on your progress!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is an amazing farmstead and historical. I suggest that you pull out everything that is useable and if Deejays mom doesn't want it, offer it online or list it somehow. Back in the old days we put a sign out and let the townfolk come look at the items. Like I said it's historical. Someone is gonna love it.
Daniel, don't play it down. Be thankful that you have the means, and the opportunity, to purchase the property. There are tens of thousands in antiques alone...that will help you get over the pain. Not to mention the wells, highway location, family history, etc. Congratulations to you and your family. I am happy for you!
Congratulations!!! Love old buildings and history that goes with it.
That Pocket Fisherman looks to be a 1970’s model. So cool.
The property will make a great investment place for the mech shop. I bet if you reach out to Jason he would probably come and take the flowers.
WOW!!! Congratulations on this new property. Can't wait to see what all you do with it.
Well done A team. The property is fantastic.
Congratulations .. great property for a warehouse !! Will take time, but Dejay’s mom and it appears Weston is a scavenger hunter too !! A shop smith used to be a thing for those who made woodwork !! And the pocket fisherman was popular back in the day ! Can’t wait for some of the finds you come across there !
Two wells.....uncharted. Platinum !! Keep them that way.
Ruth Berry Well is what we have here in Houston. They went out of business in I believe 1949. Our well is still working. We have only had to replace bearings and the relay. Our well was drilled in the 1920's.
I love the history! Congratulations on the new property with a family connection!
I am excited for you guys. It's crazy to think that you have outgrown and garage so early. Congratulations Arms family
This is wonderful, Daniel and Dejay!! God bless your new 3 acres ! I'm so happy for you both! 💜❤💜❤💜
I see the tools and it reminds me of my Dad. He had so many tools. He could do anything. I wish I would have learned how to use all of them.
Anyone that went through the depression Era saved everything!! They also hid money in nail cans, etc. So be sure to check out all that "junk". Congratulations on your new adventure!!
Maybe call it ShortArms Warehouse. Can’t wait to see all the videos from this project. So excited for you guys
It's so exciting to see your family, Dutch, Lester and the many more I watch to be able to build on your dreams. We, being in our 80's dream right along with you and wish it were us. HUGS!!!!
I think this new property purchase will be great for your merch business. I also like the fact that Daniel is wearing an" Ima Survivor Sanctuary" t-shirt 💖✨
There's a lot of money in all that old stuff!! Yes, that wood is valuable too!
Yes please salvage as much as you can!!!!
You guys are amazing. This channel that you made has changed your lives. I remember when you started selling hats and shirts, which I have bought quite many. Funny story, I live in the town of Griffith, Indiana. We are about 30 minutes outside of Chicago and people come up to me asking what the shirts mean. I tell them about your channel and how wonderful and loving family you have. I can’t wait to see how you all build your new warehouse. So cool that it’s on family land. God Bless.
Congratulations! I’m so happy for you all! It’s a beautiful piece of land.
You’d be surprised what most of that stuff is worth, you may see junk but others don’t, old tools, lumber, furniture, clothes so much more are collectibles.
If she doesn’t take everything out of the house maybe Weston could work on selling it on Facebook or EBay. Just thinking.
Congratulations I’m so excited to see the progress ❤
You should send all the car tags to Cog Hill!!
That barn would make a cute shop.
