Realtors are just people too. The average realtor is just the same as the average person in terms of intelligence, skill or ability. Sure, they have studied real estate, etc. and passed an exam to get their license, but that doesn’t guarantee they’re good at negotiating or even thinking of effective strategies that may be in the buyer’s best interest.
I would absolutely LOVE to see a series of videos of you two renovating this place. It would be so cool to see this long neglected, lonely building become livable again. I bet there were a lot of good times had there at one point! You'd have to keep the window from the outhouse in a the newly built outhouse though!
The folks that built this place may not have any taste in decorating, but they definitely knew how to build a sturdy house. :) Looking forward to ya'll bringing this place back to life.
It also appears they have not been there in decades either otherwise if it would have been actively used pretty sure they would have done lots of updating over the years. Looks like it never left the 70s and who knows - maybe the previous owners have not been there since the 1970s.....
@@marlinmr7 My guess, and it has no bearing on facts, is that the guy or part of the family that originally built this either passed away or is very old. The property was passed down to at least a couple people in the family and ended up with someone that has no interest in the house or land. They were probably happy as hell to be rid of it and get some $$ in their pockets.
@@TrashPanda5150 I agree as your scenario has a high probability. All the kids want today it seems is a quick $$$ with no consideration for the long term - only the short term. Besides the $$$ then they no longer have to pay property taxes/keep insurance on it either.

We bought a similar cabin years ago but it was wall to wall furniture. When we removed the furniture, we discovered they had done nothing but keep putting Decon under the furniture and there were many dried out mouse flatties stuck to the floor. It took several hours with a putty knife scraping those carcasses up. Fortunately, they no longer smelled. Overall, though, we got a good deal for a little elbow grease. 😁

I’m looking forward to seeing some build updates. I've always thought I can't do what people like you do, but your speech in that video changed my mind. Awesome video! My girlfriend and I live in a church we bought for $1.00 (CDN, lol) and have purchased another abandoned place for $6600. The second place has most Reno's done, all new plumbing, electrical, and windows. It was filled to capacity with power tools and a very large off grid solar system including 20 gel batteries. The stuff is out there folks! Get hunting!!!
"Diamond in the rough" is what I see! Would love to find something similar as "off grid" is perfect. Over and above a cleanup remodel of this place - suggest toying with the latest item in "off grid" living which is solar that charges batteries and backed up by a generator that runs when there is not enough sun to keep the batteries charged as all power comes from the batteries. Getting cheaper and cheaper to do so - far most cost effective than even as recently as 5 years ago. Can see a lot of work but a lot of fun as well as self satisfaction from cleaning up and redoing this off grid cabin plus years of entertainment and good times after that! 🙂👍 You need to keep/redo the outhouse too in my opinion as it probably has historical signficance and nothing wrong with a backup system too. 🤣🤣🤣

I have been investing in property for about 37 yrs in two countries. And I have to say I find your piece here very inspiring. I once had a real estate agent say to me " oh Tom you don't want to see that house."I did and I bought it. I have had quite a few wrecks that I have used rebuilt in rural areas. And I still look. I have kept a modest simple business. I would say that you and your lady should be careful. With all that animal poop probably rodent poop. it is actually toxic and you should wear a mask as you do the strip out. There is a fungus that grows on rodent poop that can cause serious illness. take care and thankyou for your postings very inspiring.Tom

That was WELL DONE! U an' Brooke R becoming soOOOoo good at 'assessing' you're on 'cruise'. This helps many people in many ways...I thank U 4 your time/talents shared. Health and God Bless!
Long time watcher, and western Michigan native here. Love the new digs. Your videos are so calming, and chill. Keep them coming!
Good sweat equity in that place. Terrific example of being fair and responsible when negotiating. My wife and I bought our lake property exactly this way. As always, great content and lovely to see you both doing well.
I love hanging out with my uncle cousin who shares a lot of info about buying land and how to build modest homes oh wait I don’t have that uncle or cousin. You’re it! Thank you for explaining all this stuff
I would LOVE for you to get Joe Para on for April Fools. Just write a script and ask him to come do it. This is so perfectly up his alley. The good natured joy it could bring the world would be almost immeasurable
You have an interesting way of saying roof. Also it is great that some countries can look up the previous owners
4:45 "dead porcupine" 🐶😂🤣🤣the dog is shocked
...I LOVE to watch forgotten land become a Project for a useful Home with Value... I have been following You & Brooke for years & wish I could be there to Help & Learn... Wonderful Achievements at its Finest... : )
Lol, I just pictured our abandoned van at husband cousin's old home place in the ground used as septic. I saw a van at an old camping area years ago, it had a fireplace built onto the back...talk about recycle. Like you said wood good shape , good bones, strong foundation and roof still protected even with tree on it, love both channels, God has blessed your family, stay strong in His Word!
Thanks for the information on negotiating property. I can’t wait to see how you transform this into something useable next.
Hi Dave & Brook very nice I like it, perfect for you guys! I a little work a little love and Home sweet home.
You guys are right up my alley. I actually like a place to look a little run down as long as it's functional. Helps to keep some from taking a look and they go to better looking digs.
That outhouse with the stain glass would make a great confessional. Great video Mr. Dave - thanks for sharing
Thankyou for showing us the outhouse!!
Your videos are so down to earth and informative it feels like you are right there with you guys.............................................Fort Worth,Tx
Thank you for taking the time to educate us on the how to's of searching and finding a property. Very informative information.
I cannot wait to watch the two of you transform this property!
That metal framing holding up the floor joists is gold, it will still be there when we are dead and gone
This is the first video I’m learning that you and Brooke are a duo!! Came across both of you separately - this is awesome and that cabin is magical with all the opportunity.
I agree this is a good find. With the both of you really hitting it and cleaning up that place, it will be super livable in no time. Definite sweat equity. Look forward to the end result!
All good to know! Thanks for sharing! Beautiful property! Amazing no water leakage!
Like I just told Brooke, I can't wait for you two to get started. I will watch every minute. I'm happy for you two.
Great property. I love the green glass in the outhouse and kitchen cabinets also that awning is unique.
Congrats and good luck
