5:36 That... That scream came from somewhere real. Kevin brought that out from somewhere deep inside him.

I've said it on another video, but what I loved watching this as a kid, was that it didn't talk down to us as kids. It respected our intelligence, and that we could understand the situations it was presenting, even if it was something no child would have any experience with.

And in this case, children can experience with depression and traumas.

I remember there was one episode where they want to hold a banquet for Jim Gordon to honor his years of service. Jim of course doesn't want to go and instead says to Batman 'It's you they should be honoring' Batman then says to him. "I'm just a night shift You deal with this mess 24 hours a day and that's what those men want to honor."

5:35 I knew Kevin Conroy was great but damn that was an epic yell. I really have to watch this series myself. I kinda understand why people say Batman was too robotic in Arkham Knight. Kevin’s range is amazing throughout this episode!

You should see Kevin in the episode His Silicon Soul.

Yeah the voice direction in that game seemed very "instruction focused".

What barbara isn't a redhead though?
I mean aren't all iterations of Barbara she seen are redheads so not sure what made her say that. That was so random lol

I actually almost teared up a bit listening to you talk about the episode and your own struggles and how relatable Batman is. I'm currently going through my own things and listening to other people talk about how they're also feeling the same way, is very validating. I recently found your channel because of this reaction series and I now always look forward to your videos so thank YOU and the cast and crew of the animated series.

Fun fact: Boy at the beggining and end is voiced by a young Seth Green.

"How long before i leave someone else i care about down?"
Batman saying that to DCAU Dick Grayson means a lot, considering everything that they go throught, since taking care of a little kid to making mistakes with his grown son

If you're still uploading a few episodes from the series, Meg, I can warmly recommend the following:
    Ep. 35, "Almost Got ‘Im"
Ep. 40, "If You’re So Smart, Why Aren’t You Rich?"
    Ep. 44, "Off Balance"
Ep. 51, "The Man Who Killed Batman"
    Ep. 59, "Read My Lips"
Eps. 60-61, "The Demon’s Quest" (parts one and two)
    Ep. 75, "Bane"
    Ep. 76, "Baby-Doll"
    Ep. 78, "Showdown"
They are, to my mind, some of the most interesting, thought-provoking or outright frightening episodes in the series, and could also serve as vehicles for acquiring general knowledge of Batman lore that you may be new to or semi-familiar with.
That said, thank you for introducing me to the unique experience of reliving a nostalgic item through another person’s eyes, allowing me to recall what made _Batman: The Animated Series_ such an outstanding programme in the first place.
Post scriptum: I think I have listed the abovementioned episodes in their proper order. If I have made a blunder of it, however, feel free to correct me.

Please stop posting this comment on every video. It’s unnecessary. We’ve seen it and taken note of it. But please stop spamming it or it will be removed. Thank you.

Barbara hasn't become Batgirl at this point, so she hasn't been trained to fight yet.
In the 60s tv show and the early comics Batgirl actually wore a mask with a long red wig, and her natural hair was very short.
Love this episode, it deals with some very mature themes, especially for an animated show. Your reactions and discussion of these cartoons are excellent, so please keep going. 🙂

    • @fynnthefox9078

She likely has some training, this is the Commissioner's daughter after all. And she lives in Gotham City.

The thing i will always remember about this episode in particular, is that i was catching up with the series watching each episode for each season. After watching this episode, not even 24 hours later i heard the news that Kevin Conroy passed away. I will remember this episode for a lot of reasons. Thank you Kevin Conroy for becoming my favorite voice actor to play my childhood superhero batman.

you should read Dark Night: A True Batman Story, by
Paul Dini, he wrote so many episodes from the batman animated series the book is very personal to him and sad but I think you would enjoy it, you get a lot of understanding from the writer and why some episodes from the series hit home, personally, it’s one of my favorite batman books

I've only just discovered your channel and these reactions. Just wanted to say... I've been looking for Batman TAS reactions on here for ages with no luck, then when I finally found yours, I couldn't have wished for a better person to share their discovery of this show with! You are so thoughtful, have such a big heart, and you totally GET it! This show resonates with you in all the ways it's aiming to resonate with people, and your compassion, empathy, and wisdom suits it so well! Not only do I enjoy your reactions, but I always look forward to your commentaries after each episode!
I just wanted you to know that this reaction series has really made my week, and I can't wait to see more! 😁

Tying together some different pop culture references, I really related to Batman here and the song Surface Pressure in Encanto. And the pressures were mostly internally crafted. Nobody put them on me, until I had put them on myself, and nobody knew that I was choking myself until I couldn’t hide it anymore. And I hid it for years.
The opposing moment, a quiet and overlooked scene, comes from the MCU’s Civil War. I absolutely love Cap’s talk with Wanda. The frank admission that you can’t save everyone, but if you don’t act, then next time nobody might be saved. You have to accept that you will make mistakes, and that there are always consequences, whether you choose to act or not. So, if by acting, you can change something… Act.

Batman or more accurately bruce view commissioner Gordon as his personal hero in a lot of iterations it is Jim that responds to the call about the Wayne’s death it is Jim that put his jacket over that boy that lost both his parents so in a lot of iterations Jim is Bruce Wayne’s personal hero so it is safe to say Jim is one of the people Batman will go above and beyond to help and if he fails him in any way like this^ it must hurt him to his core in a way love batman he got so many layers to him

This episode is ONE OF VERY FEW that places an IMPORTANT PERSPECTIVE that VERY few people are not willing to discuss. Batman is not just considered a SUPER HERO, but THE CHARACTER is also a HUMAN BEING. I commend you, MEG, for your reactions to this series, ESPECIALLY THIS PARTICULAR EPISODE. Looking at reactions like this is ONE of those things that HUMANIZES me IN MANY WAYS. I appreciate you for that and continue with your GOOD WORK 💪.

Each one of this episodes would make a great 2 hr movie, regarding thos episode ,sometimes we think what we do what we say don't make a difference, but it does, our actions our words make a difference in our kids our close relatives ,sometimes we have t take a moment and step back to look at the bigger picture and not lose focus

Yeah, at this point in the show, Barbara isn't Batgirl yet. That's not until Shadow of the Bat. And thankfully without that Batsex. But knowing Bruce Timm, he weasels Bruce x Barbara in wherever little places he can.

if there is ONE I want to see the most its Heart of Ice
I could list my "Must See" reactions for this or ANY show if asked
Don't know that many Batman TAS reactors though Reactions started with Young Justice, MLP:FiM, Adventure Time, Dan Vs, Avatar TLA, Kadocha and grew from there and many of those died when there shows ended or took a break. Even back in the dsays of He-Man's 1st reboot and the Thundercats Reboot, Teen Titans, Ben Ten, Kim Possible, G4TV, Star Wars Episode 1, We had discussion groups not reaction videos.

I really enjoy your reactions. You’re not fake like some other UA-camrs that react to movies and shows. I might not agree with everything you say but I still respect your genuine reactions and opinions. It’s very refreshing to have a UA-camr like yourself act like you normally would in front of a camera. You don’t put on a show and I can respect you just being yourself. Keep up the good work and have a awesome day!!
