Finally, a chest rig that can kill terrorists and carry my PBR
I have a hill people chest pack and if you put both zippers together at the top corner you can grab the corner and pull the pack open for your carry gun. It works great. Besides, if you have a back pack on as well the waist strap interferes with a belt carry holster.
Glad you pointed that out. I was going to post it. I love the pack!
One of the best pieces of equipment I have. Glad it’s Grunt Proofed 👍🏻
Hill people gear people are cool folks and do make good stuff
You may want to check out the FullTang Tactical Modular Chest Rig-Kit Bag
I have one and one of HPG’s backpacks and I’m here it say it’s some of the best gear I’ve ever bought.
We got my father one for Christmas two years back and it is definitely a solid piece of kit. He is a very large dude horizontally and there is ample strapage for his massive physique. Great review! Thanks for what you do!
Great piece of kit Randall!
I've been using one of their Heavy Recon Kit Bags for a couple of years and it is always with me while in the woods, I use it for my survival kit.
I also attached one of their shoulder harnesses for my CamelBak Antidote bladder.
Those d-rings are called grimloks.

For the conceal carry pouch, if you zip it shut with both zipper pullers in a corner you can rip it open with the oposite hand, just cross your non-dominant hand across your chest and grab the top corner (where the zipper pulls meet). Pull hard and boom, your dominant hand has the gun right there
Much excite!! Thanks for the solid review. I was a bit confused on which model you had and you cleared that right up
A Number One Joe! haha
thanks for the review.
I made my chest rig with the 5.11 side carry, granted I had to do some modifying to fit a harness from another unit. It works for what need it for, Fire, water, smoker grenades, pepper spray, lighting, batteries, knives, other stuff.
Mind is seperate from my ruck in case I need to drop my ruck load-out, I still have basic survival tools. .
I've been carrying this bag for years. As for concealed draw there are two little tricks this bag can do. 1st, pull the zippers to the side you draw from and leave about a 2-4" gap between them. When you draw you don't even touch the zippers you simply slide your hand into the gap and it widens as you push in and grab your gun. 2nd, the best thing about this bag for carry is that if you're walking thru a parking lot or somewhere when you see some shady things around, you can push your hand into the bag and grab a full grip on your gun without displaying the gun.
This is for those situations that are spooky enough to get ready but not enough to draw down or out with your gun. Then, if things are ok, you simply slide your hand out and rezip. No risk of being charged with aggravated assault.
You can cover your pre-draw even more by casually crossing your other arm/hand over the drawing hand which really conceals what you're doing even further. Your arms are naturally crossed over your chest but your hand is inside the pouch with a full grip on your gun.
Pretty Nice 👍 Randall, Thank you for testing & updates. 🇺🇸🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 Happy 4Th 🇺🇸
HPG is an awesome company with awesome products. There’s some good people working out there in Western Colorado.
I have it. It’s not just amazing for outdoors but for travelling too. In combination with heavy rucksack that can be cumbersome to put on and off shoulders, it allows storing all the small items (headlamp, compass, gps, phone, etc) comfortably and practically where you can access them. And yes, it’s made in the US of A
Great review thanks dude
🤣🤣 got a kick out of the conceal carrying draw demonstration.
I picked one up and it is really good for the price. I use mine on short hikes and just out and about scouting.
Looks good thanks for sharing , God bless !
On the rear pistol pocket you’re supposed to put the zippers together on a top corner. The corner depends on which is your dominant hand.
You are able to rip the bag open with one hand and draw with the other. They should have videos on their site.
Hells yeah! Chest packs ftw!
Great rig.
My dad has that one, I've got the Heavy Recon because I wanted something that integrated with my magazine pouches.
Helikon has a version similar to this if the HPG is out (looks like it). Almost identical outside of possibly the size of it. Very good chest kit and you'd be surprised how well these kits work out for multiple activities.
that's the first one I reviewed
Good review Randal. HPG make great stuff. I've got a couple of their things but not a kit bag.......yet.
Nate
good stuff
When I bought mine a couple years ago and chose between the Hill people gear and Helikon Tex and ended up going with Helikon but the Hill people Gear looks super solid
I still like the Numbat
@@GruntProof yeah my brother has hill people gear and likes it as well
I've been using the Marsupial fishing chest pack. Another American company that manufactures its products in the USA. It'll fit a CCW in the back compartment, but I haven't had the opportunity to try it out since I live in occupied territory. I also own Marsupial's bino harness which is top quality and I'd highly recommend it if anyone is in the market.
You had the double zippers on the wrong side. 😄😄😄😄
All the strapage!
I'm surprised they gave that to you, considering we all know HPG is indestructible already
Randall, thoughts on the Full Tang Tactical setup?

I'd rather not freak out all of the "normal" hikers on the trail by open carrying a weapon, I'd love to find some sort of pouch to hang on my pack in which I could tuck a large revolver out of sight but still somewhat accessible. This would be big enough but I'd rather have one that didn't necessitate working a zipper.
Am I the only one noticing the UT99 soundtrack at the end?
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Is this the medium size bag, or the full size bag?
medium
@@GruntProof thanks for the fast reply!
C'mon, man! I just bought a couple chest rigs not long ago. They're okay. But, I wish I had heard of these cats first. Oh well. Thanks for the future consideration!
I reviewed the Numbat last year
I'll be sure to check that out as well if/when my current rigs fail.
👍
👍👍
19lbs!!! What the hell were you carrying bricks. Come on man, really!!!
ammo is heavy 🤷♂️
LOL. transition from 2:14 to 2:15
Made in America, but with very bad finishes, untidy, loose threads, zippers that don't say "ykk" expensive, there are much cheaper, better built and neater options.
Dude good to have in the occupied territory like your AO. LOL
Goodish video...Did you actually watch their video on how to draw a pistol? Watching you struggle to draw was painful to watch, were you acting like you had no coordination on purpose? Watch their video, it's actually a simple rip and grip..Please watch their video and update.
What do you normally find yourself putting in those elastic front punches? (The ones on your Helikon?)
Batteries and other small things
