I have been using this bag for hiking for years and I would not want to be without it.
It is great to have important things like your mobile phone or your wallet on you all the time plus immediate access to small items without taking the pack off.

fyi. There are plastic clips on the bottom you can use to remove the map pouch. You can then get any number of Velcro/hook and loop holsters that will attach to the inside of the chest rig that allow for quick deployment.
After almost 25 years as a LEO every successful self defense scenario I have seen came from someone who had their weapon concealed and surprised their assailant regardless of the weapon used. If your weapon is "right there" the bad guy sees it too and either ignores you or blind sides you. In either case your weapon is never deployed.

I use a similar chest rig when riding my motorcycle. I typically carry IWB Appendix & that’s not optimal when on a bike. The chest rig allows me to have quick & easy access to my pistol even when seated on my bike.

    Thanks for sharing Randall.
    Got one, love it.
Still playing around with ways to attach it to chest straps of smaller packs etc
    All the best

Cool review - even for those of us in certain countries with much stricter laws on certain things. Happy 2022 too.
I just picked up the Helikon EDC backpack yesterday. I get through rucks ridiculously quick, but this seems like thick (500?) Cordura and a good, basic, 21 litre ruck for not much cash at all, if you need something that size.
It's not full of pockets, but has enough molle, velcro and some nice elastic straps, D-rings etc. to customise to what you need, inside and out. I've only used their ponchos and just got this, but Helikon Tex seem to be making some good stuff. Only time will tell, but it seems decent so far.

Nice job Randall, I might look into getting one of those chest packs - I like the map holder feature, looks useful. On another note what are you carrying for a sidearm in this video?

Thanks for the awesome review, now something else to consider. Personally I started out with Kifaru Koala, but it bounced around a lot and is big and bulky, but the craftsmanship is amazing.. Not sure they make this anymore, but I do use it some times if not for hiking it is a good EDC bag. Then moved to the Hill People gear Kit Bag which is similar to this system and love it. To my understanding the Kifaru Koala and Kit Bag are form a collaboration. Then I found the RibzWear version with molle "Tacticool", but this is really practical for my uses and is my go to system, but I do bounce back to the Kit Bag when I want something High Speed 😉. The Kit bag with molle might provide some good POV for video, but need to experiment a bit more... Great vids! 👍 Thanks!

@@GruntProof I like the kit bag a lot. I have two if them one of the original design then upgrade to the one with MOLLE. Keep things I like to have quick access like small first aid kit and hygiene kit, head lamp, map and compass, Electronics phone and radio.. Would be nice to integrate something like the Juggernaut nav board. One missing thing is the drop down strings like yours has.

Hey man, could you do a video about boots?
Various types you used - preferably not-issue ones.
I am looking for some goretex waterproof ones, that i could get away with using all year round (I'm in Eastern Europe) but i can't find anything decent price to quality wise.
I had British S10 goretex boots which were absolutely amazing and served me well for over 7 years, only now the sole has degraded completely (fyi i didn't look after these one bit so i can defiantly say they are grunt proof).
Unfortunately you can't get em. The ones available online have also degraded soles... i know from experience as I bought a pair and sole fell apart and no shoesmith been able to fix up a new sole that won't fall off after one use.
So could you advise on some waterproof boots? (goretex preferably, i want something that is actually waterproof not something that is only partially)

You think this would accomidate a Glock 34 with a TLR 1 in a Velcro holster?
I normally carry in the hip, but want something a little more discreet when I hike through more public areas.
