      no they have closed the sluice gate to raise the river, it can flow both ways depending on how they manage it to prevent flooding

    well put:) horses for courses,a lot of my friends prefer Phnom Penh and live there but for me i like SR lots better,having lived in both SR is much more easier to get around without the traffic of pp its also cleaner,i do love the river in pp through and miss cruising up the tonle sap and mekong rivers,

      Peter gardiner thanks for your thoughts, yes each has its pros and cons, Riverside in PP is cool and has some interesting night life, I feel safer here in Siem Reap as I think the crime rate is pretty low although petty crime seems to be on the rise at the moment.
