  • Another rifle that got cut but that has some very good qualities. Unlike some this seems to be a bit of a steal coming in well under it's original price point on the used market. In 300WSM it is a hum-dinger!

    I remember those rifles in the early 2k. I thought about getting the .325 WSM in that rifle for moose, but with the odd diameter I talked myself out of it. Not to mention the stout recoil for longer shots.
    You got me thinking .300 WSM using a 200gr terminal ascent out of a Winchester 1885 highwall for spring black bear. I'm getting over 2900fps at the muzzle out of a 28" barrel. And hey, any vids will do Forbes or any rifle!

    Glad to see you back! Lighter rifles help keep us active as we age. I used to say to myself that if I can’t pack a normal weight rifle comfortably, then I should do some more push-ups to build up my stamina. Now, at 70, I love packing lighter weight rifles, even though I do lots of push-ups regularly.

    Great to see you again and yes we want more Forbes 30-06 videos, or at least I do. 😂You’ve actually had rifles stolen the mail? I’m curious because I have a model 70 that I’m thinking of sending off to rebore it to .35 Whelen but I’m scared to death to ship it!

    Yes, we could always use another 30-06 video..... hahahaha
    But the thing is you make good down to earth vids.
    Soon as I saw your video here, I clicked.
    That 175 ltx speed is impressive!
    It's good not to be in a hurry
    Take care

    Great review!
    You should try a muzzle break. I've been shooting a 300 RUM for 20 years and said I don't need a break...they're for wussys....but let me tell ya-it's a game changer...not only in the ability to shoot all day but accuracy is improved exponentially.
    Keep up the great work!

    My favorite cartridge! I have a Sako Finlight and it has a limb saver pad and a muzzle break and it shoots 3/4” groups with handloads and premium ammo.

    Very nice setup. My son has a Tika T3 (I think that is what it's called) in 300WSM and has taken two 1-shot elk with it over the last4 years. Both were under 200yds according to him. Hope to see a range session soon. Thanks for sharing.

      I thought about a 325 wsm when my 7mm mag barrel was bad but I pass on both and let shop keep the m70 action . 😢 and just keep my nikon optic.

    Its too bad the Browning Ti and Remington Ti rifles were discontinued. Those were outstanding bargains when they came out as is the Kimber Montana.
    Ive got an Nosler 48 custom in 300WSM but ive never tried it. Your Browning Ti will be excellent for bison if you need a light rifle. Its nice to see you put up another video.

    Good to see ya back!

      I think the Browning will be accurate enough.... and in an absurdly light package for a 300WSM.

      And the Browning has a smoother bolt as well.

    Not sure if your doing this but thought i'd mention it; found from a couple sources that if you shoot copper bullets after shooting cup and core bullets you will often get bad accuracy; this doesn't seem to affect the accuracy of cup and core bullets if shot after shooting copper bullets. Your are likely to get much better accuracy of the copper bullets if you clean the bore to bare metal, remove all copper fouling then start shooting the copper bullets. Sources are Ron Spomer and a recent Backfire video that he tests this in a Sako 90 and then calls Ron to thank him as his accuracy dropped off horribly, had been getting good accuracy with copper, shot some cup and cores then went back to copper and that accuracy was horrid, he cleaned in video and then reshot with copper and accuracy returned.

      I have had accuracy shits like you mention in some rifles but not at all in others. Seems barrel dependent!

    "Humdinger" ... but 35 pounds of recoil doesn't hurt...😮... we might have different view on that!

    Very nice rifle! Have you ever worked with the .300 Weatherby Magnum?

    • @north61
      @north61  6 місяців тому +5

      I have had two, a German made MkV and a Japanese made two lug. Both were good but the accuracy was hard to get up to my standard so I sold them off.

    Glad to see another video from you Greg. You that this new Browning will allow you to sell a couple others. Which ones are you referring to and why? Duplication of performance?

    • @north61
      @north61  6 місяців тому +3

      Duplication for sure. Selling some slower scoped guns like the Savage 99FW in 358 and my 9.3x62. Will keep the 350 Rem Mag. One of the BRNO 21H's either the 7x57 or 8x57 depending on accuracy test. Maybe the BRNO combo gun.

    I have an A bolt in 308 i bought a while back but haven't shot yet. how do you like the trigger on that rifle?
    My hesitation to the A bolt is you cant get a timmney triger for it

    • @north61

      the trigger is over engineered but they do seem to work well!
