I have Honda 2 hp on my sports pal 14 foot pointed stern, I love it. Use it mostly for moose hunting and fishing during moose hunting. I have had this set up for 25 years.
Hi, I’m looking at purchasing a miramichi 20 to use in the miramichi river. My question is will the 2.5 hp push the canoe against the current of a river? VS using in a lake. If you have experience with using that setup in the river. Cheers and thank you in advance. Nice video.
yes. it will push your boat with 300 pounds in it at about 10MPH. With a 6 MPH river you can make around 4MPH upstream. An 11 MPH chute will push you backwards so you need to have a sterns-person with a pole. With a heavier load you go slower. With 600 pounds you might make 7.5 MPH. In fast water upstream you are better off with a Y-Stern and more HP.
This is something id love to experiance in life. Lovely big canoe and the little 2hp Suzuki seems like a nice slow pace.
Gorgeous country.
Just beautiful...

Love those Japanese 4stroke motors great fuel efficiency and quiet.
Yes they are!
I've used and electric trolling motor for years . Nice and quiet 🤫
Nice set up dave ramsey
Perfect For a Canoe
Nice, but will that motor push that thing through the water while a defunct moose is aboard? Thanks for the vid!
Probably about as fast as when empty...2.5 HP is a lot in a semi-displacement hull that doesn't really get up on step even when empty.

How is it mounted? Is there a special bracket or something?
