I enjoyed watching this with you, appreciated your comments and the lovely expression on your face as you listened to Amira. I have always liked this song since 'Il Divo' sang it (RIP Carlos 😢) and with Amira singing here - when she was just 12 years old, I think - it is heart-stopping when she hits those top-notes and mesmerising to watch that beautiful face; as you say, she makes it look effort-less....she is such a natural.

12 year old Amira displaying her talent. Ray Vandenburg, one of her fans, has posted a video of this with English subtitles. The lyrics are as beautiful as the melody. The tune is a film score by Ennio Morricone, the instrumental version is called Gabriel's Oboe, the words were added later. She certainly delivers a definitive version here.
There are a lot of other tracks she handles superbly. Amazing Grace, Gabriella's Song, The Flower Duet. She's 18 now, most recent releases include Nearer my God to thee, and La Califfa. Still brilliant.

She was 12 here, and is now 18 and more beautiful vocally and aesthetically than ever. That sweet smile and the sparkle in her eyes are just heart melting. But even more than that is the kind of heart, soul, and quality of character she has, with a love for people, especially children, as big as the world! She created a foundation at age TEN called Gelukskinders, which raises funds to build playground facilities for underprivileged children in South Africa. I believe 18 have been built so far! She funnels half of all her income into the foundation herself, thus leading by example!

Since you are new to Amira, I'll try to encapsulate some things about her and her career, most of which is probably already in the comments:
1. Amira began her singing career by winning "Holland's Got Talent", in 2013, at the age of nine, singing "O Mio Babbino Cario and blowing all the other contestants right out of the water.
2. Someone told Andre Rieu about her, and he called her at home, and offered her a spot on his show, including a master class for her and her brother, Fincent, (English Vincent):. She again blew away the audience on Rieu's show.. After that the sky was the limit
3. The video in your reaction was performed in 2016, when she was 12. The venue was the once yearly "Classics is Groot, (English Classics is Great,) performed in South Africa, to which her family had moved by then. In South Africa, that show is a BIG DEAL, goodness only knows how many performers, thus the massive orchestra, huge audience, and and really outstanding performers.
4. There are two pieces in that video, the first with the African rhythm is "the River", accompanied by the Flautist, an amazing performer in her own right. The flautist also accompanies Amira, and she should really have received a credit in the video. If she did, I have yet to find it.
So that was Amira at 12. She turned 18 this year on 27 March, and is now "On Her Own", being an adult, with a flourishing career. Her body of work is prodigious, and can be found by using the You Tube search using just her name.

I looked at your channel , i think i can propose to you a new artist you do not know. Her name is Patty Gurdy. She is German , but sings mostly in English. Her particularity apart of her voice is she plays a very old instrument : an hurdy-gurdy.

This beautiful aria with music by Ennio Morricone from the film “The Mission,” and lyrics added by Chiara Ferraù is about an imaginary world of peace and harmony. I presume the implication is that this is the fantasy of the missionary which provokes enormous irony. The “mission” of the missionary is to persuade the indigenous people to abandon their cultural traditions and superstitions in favor of the missionary’s culture and superstitions. Europeans generally regarded indigenous peoples to be “savages” in need of “salvation.” So the fantasy is presumably about a world of European culture and superstition, rather than of any sort of diversity or inclusion.
The first 2 minutes is another Ennio Morricone composition called "The River" with the voices of the Mzansi Youth Choir, then Amira comes on stage for Nella Fantasia.
Have you seen Soyang from Korea . Do "bridge over troubled water" . One of the best voices in the world. You will not be dissapointed.

She has a quality of voice just not found in any other voice I have ever heard. Her voice keeps ringing in the head long after she stops singing. Many people say she is not of the same status as a Sissle or Callas but Amira displayed a higher quality even as a nine-year-old. I hope she stays with classical music and arias. Popera is what she can excel at, I hope. Don't want her to become the fat lady that sings at the end of an opera.
