This beautiful aria with music by Ennio Morricone from the film “The Mission,” and lyrics added by Chiara Ferraù is about an imaginary world of peace and harmony. I presume the implication is that this is the fantasy of the missionary which provokes enormous irony. The “mission” of the missionary is to persuade the indigenous people to abandon their cultural traditions and superstitions in favor of the missionary’s culture and superstitions. Europeans generally regarded indigenous peoples to be “savages” in need of “salvation.” So the fantasy is presumably about a world of European culture and superstition, rather than of any sort of diversity or inclusion. The first 2 minutes is another Ennio Morricone composition called "The River" with the voices of the Mzansi Youth Choir, then Amira comes on stage for Nella Fantasia.

This video was never about the song. It is about a magical moment between Lara and her fans. I’m so glad you didn’t give up on it. If you purely want to hear her sing it, check out the version from her Tout Intimite concert. But this is the most intimate moment I’ve ever seen on stage, and thus for me, the most impactful performance of this song by Lara. And by the way, she still sounds incredible in this despite the emotions and loud audience.

When Lucy sings, she becomes the song, she sings the song with all her heart and soul, she sings with clarity, smooth control, a beautiful softness, and breath control, she checks all the boxes. When Lucy sings 'At Last', she puts what Etta James put into it, even though Lucy puts her own spin on the song she becomes Etta James.

Your reaction was almost identical to mine! Until I heard Eva sing this, I don’t think I ever really paid attention to all the lyrics. The song took on a whole new meaning. It gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it and sometimes it makes me cry. How I wish she could have lived longer and recorded more songs.

I am by no means a Tyler Perry fan, but I thought this was a really good movie. Sans a much needed shower scene it was pretty good.

I loved the film! And yes, I agree wholeheartedly that Tyler needs to build a team of writers and consultants to bring the script up to reality and not this nonsense 90s New York in a loft life... And having Kelly do all these sex scenes for no reason, I was so mad! WE deserve better and you're getting old Tyler, you're no longer the only one and it seems you're no longer in touch with Black folks! You're like my parents who left Africa 40 years ago and think people still eat with their hands! They use utensils Mom, stop it! 😅 So Tyler, people don't live in the 80s anymore! Even know the point of the movie was to launch Kelly as a lead, write better scripts or hire people to do so!

Sorry Sharlene, I got a phone call in the middle of your reaction video. What I was going to comment is that, over the past 3 weeks I have listened to this live performance about 150 times. I can now almost make it to the guitar solo before tears of joy take over my life. I swear the first time she split my soul in half, then proceeded to mend it again. God, who blessed her with this talent, is blessing a troubled World with her interpretation of the song. It is as if His existence outside of time and space as we know it, He was able to Cross reference different dates in time to bless the World with this new revelation of the song. 1939, the song was written for the Wizzard Of Oz movie and sung by the star Judy Garland. 1996, He blessed Eva Cassidy with a special talent to reinterpret the song in a special way, that would be recounted thousands of times in 2023 and 2024 by a World entering a Prophetic End Times Age, and in need of new insiration, and God Blessed Eva for this very purpose. I think her cover is an introduction to the pending Rapture of His Church and the way we will finally fly like the happy bluebirds above the Rainbow to be reunited with Him in the sky

Yes dear, I believe God gave her this talent specifically to emphasize a deeper fuller meaning to the song. The sign God gave us in the Sky that he would never destroy mankind again was the Rainbow. Now that we are very close to the return of Jesus to bring an End to the Age and usher in Eternity, that that Eternity will be SOMEWHERE OVER THAT VERY RAINBOW and he blessed Eva to help us understand that very deep meaning. The first time I heard this a few weeks ago, she literally broke my Soul in two and I believe it wad part of God's plan back in 1996 to use the talent He gave her for this very purpose. AMEN and AMEN
