Yeah I agree with you. If I was going for looks I would have some big ridiculous tower. How would you something that is smaller and could be confused for a cable box in your living room. My main purpose is I want/need something with more power than a laptop. I know they have come a long way and are getting closer. I travel a lot and since carrying or transporting a mid or full tower is a true pain. I opt for the smaller ITX option because it checks most of the boxes in my mind.
A proud NCase M1 owner here. It's the best case ever designed and that's not an overstatement. You can fit a ridiculous amount of hardware in a tiny space, unless you want SLI it's basically no compromise. Worth every penny. I will use this case for as long as Mini ITX boards exist.
I know it's old and definitely not the smallest, but I HIGHLY recommend the Corsair 250D. It's very easy to work in, supports a 240mm AIO, accepts an ATX PSU which saves money, has awesome GPU compatibility (I fit a strix 1080 in mine!), has a top window, has very accessible dust filters on the front and both sides of the case (which really does keep the inside of the case very clean), AND has a drive cage that can fit up to 4 drives!
I love small cases! They're perfect for people like me who don't have much space and need to make every cm count. I can't help but notice the varying ambient sound levels. Would there be any way for you guys to incorporate some sort of quiet "sound room" or a space large enough for at least a computer and a sound level meter into the warehouse? Perhaps it's too expensive to renovate enough room to make something like that practical or there's a lack of space already, but I think it would really help stabilize your measurements and demonstrate more accurately how loud a PC is.
kinsi55 because smaller case means more portablility and if you are buying a small case than that obviously means you most likely want more portability so manufactures up the price because they know you want it
kinsi55 also because cases like NCase and the A4 are given extremely small production run contracts by Lian Li so they have to make their money back somehow
kinsi55 Some of it has to do with it being a niche. The majority of customers will purchase a regular case as opposed to these tiny ones since they (generally speaking) have more limited uses. The size also makes it harder for them to get contracts with companies to use the cases in pre-builts, meaning that their core market is likely those who build their own PC. That leaves you with a niche, and niches are expensive to make products for. Just look at fight sticks and why they cost so much.
haha i know that feeling. i stop after my second build. I know have a way to powerful HTPC with i7 6700, 16Gb, 650W Power supply and a R9 290X. I sometimes build one for friends to stop the urge.^^

Cougar cases tend to be 85% plastic, and dust magnets with some of the worst included fans you'll ever see. They used to make extremely good power supplies just 5 years ago, but they've been declining there too. Cougar has the 'mad catz' syndrome, a company that was bought up or changed focus and fell through the floor. Cougar is not really an independent company, they're owned by HEC Compucase (who make power supplies for industrial markets) and have to do whatever absurd shit HEC tells them to do. I think Cougar have competent people working there, but HEC is constantly making bad calls for them to swallow and so their products have been shitty lately.
I have the QBX and agree with the rubbish included fan, so quickly removed it but apart from the front and top brushed plastic panels the rest is metal construction. I say it has many options as it fits(only just) an entire Dark Rock TF CPU cooler and full size GPU, and thermals and sound is on par with those in the video. I agree with the bad calls, as their other stuff doesnt have any good selling points.
Had to scroll way too long, agree qbx is the best Ncase alternative since they have the same layout, also planing build with it or Rvz01-e soonish, still not sure which one.

No SG13 :(
12 seconds and still not first
you'll NEVER get first if you are waiting till they switch the video to Public View
Awesomely thorough review thanks!
I have used the node 202 and it is pretty awesome but I want to try the Silverstone . great video guys!
It really bothered me when they used the compressed air can while holding it sideways at 5:29
"Do not shake can or use while not in the upright position"
*Immediately holds can sideways and shakes it*
its just a demonstration and i don't see why you are so upset about them holding the can sideways lol
If you do that it spews nasty white fluid everywhere. Really terrible idea and you can see them holding the trigger down lol
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) nasty white fluid
Disappointed there was no Raijintek Thetis case considering it's the smallest ATX-compatible case that can house a fullsized air cooler, gpu and psu.
cougar mini-itx qbx way better then most of these, and way cheaper.
newport5504 It's pretty cheaply made and not as small or efficient as the Dan, Sentry or N-Case. Still a really good value though if you're okay with the looks.
Lord Mortigon efficient in what way? Slots and brackets?
This was a great video guys! Thanks for all the hard work!
Thanks! Would like to see more of the build and inside of each case.
