I really hope they avoid subverting expectations for BoS characters in season 2. It was fine this season to see guys like Thaddeus, Titus, and even Maximus seem badass but actually be more comedic and not as capable as they first seemed. It works fine because fans of the games know the BoS very well and know how badass and intense they can be. So seeing the main BoS characters this season be more comedic and weaker imo worked just fine to subvert your expectations but ONLY if that portrayal shifts next season. Because in the next season I need to see the BoS characters actually be as badass, intimidating, and formidable as they are in the games and as they initially appeared in the Prime series. I need to see waaaay less internal sabotage and bullying and see the camaraderie that draws and keeps so many members in their ranks. You should have some viewers wanting to join them. And I need to see some BoS true believers. Whether that’s in Lyon’s type of altruism, the outcast’s isolationism, or Arthur Maxson’s balanced mix of the two focused on occupation and vassalage( or becoming the dominant faction in an area to protect residents of the area but also rule over them to protect them from their own ambition by confiscating tech. I need to see the BoS as a faction who makes some viewers think they be correct in their philosophy. Like in the games how the BoS philosophy has become flawed but their philosophy still acts as an important safeguard from humanity’s ambition.
The first episode had me so hype but second episode onwards portrayed them as clowns. I don't mind subverting expectations but that only works when those expectations are replaced with something better and that hasn't happened so far.
