On my '80 911 SC, I lowered it and removed the Whale tail and installed a Turbo Tail. Made a huge difference in it'a looks.. Mine is Guards Red w/ Black Leather int.
@@bidnerds As a turbo-look owner, I love my SC -- I thought I wanted a late G50, but the 915 tranny has grown on me. I love the catless 3.0 sound. It has just enough convenience and drivability to be practical as a daily.
Old Man Gold is exactly what I have always called it too😅 Always imagined they were ordered by boring doctors and dentists who waxed them more than they drove them. That said, I always thought these were a stealthy spec and would be great for road trips and cruising without drawing too much attention.
The car that started me down my lifelong Porsche obsession was a gold 911 Turbo that I saw at the new-car autoshow in the early-80s when I was a kid. I love gold.
@@bidnerds Just looked at it, complete insanity. Don't get me wrong, I love air-cooled 911s as much as anyone, but $76K US for an SC? Over double what I feel that they're worth, honestly.
I did briefly consider an older 911 but the cost to refit the car was prohibitive. Basically, most of the older model 911's are simply worn out. I ended up getting a new Mustang GT 6 speed. LOL! Don't get me wrong, I think those older Porsche's are very cool.
Well, I call this old man tan, which is what my 996 cab is with a Boxster red leather interior. If I had my choice, I would have kept my old 72 red 911 S Targa, but houses, kids, college, and old age make owning the fried egg 996 with under thirty thou makes sense. If I have an accident, I wouldn't cry.....
Wish my SC was the same price I bought it, nobody was interested and all parts peanuts. Getting even tired from how you all construe the market. Even if I had more money, I still keep my SC, it handles perfect and a sunshine my garage. Art, other great prewar cars, per weekend I swap my driving mood. Guys, whats the fun in owning one special Ferrari. In the end it is for me, not these drewlers hanging around your car. There is far more in the world, only concentrating on hyper. I much prefer bottom end iconic cars & for myself, not to share!

How long have you owned it and what do you think of current SC values?

How many tweed jackets with elbow patches would you have to add to your wardrobe?
Quick note, that whale tail is from a 1980 Weissach SC and not the turbo.
tall tail doncha' think?

@@bidnerds That's Bidenomics for ya. 🫤
The gold is beautiful, but so do agree its a smaller market of buyers. A more popular color would bring $85 to 90.
Worth the savings to drive a less cool color?

I mean, if we're going to talk old man cars.
BTW, something is wrong w/ your thumbs up.. Clicked it and it stayed on 0..
It's pretty clear that UA-cam hates us. keep trying and thanks for watching!

The value of the 911's keep creeping up whereas the modern mustangs will always go down. Pay now or pay later eh?

You're 996 sounds like a pretty rare spec actually.

Not sure what you're trying to say. We love SC's!
Those U.S black rubber bumper nodules either side of the no. Plate are just hideous. Lovely car but you guys in the states didn’t deserve that!
And they're crazy heavy!
@@bidnerdsha!
Market is garbage. Cars that should be 25-35k are selling for 50k+.
Is that because the values have increased or is it the result of inflation?
Fiat debasement. Prices have actually gone way down when priced in Bitcoin
Not nocking crypto, but how can you make that statement given Bitcoin's volatility?
