+Lorenzo Torrez I thought it was Disposable Heroes that he kept fucking up? Anyways that guy fell off the wagon....can't even play his own songs anymore
+Lorenzo Torrez Sorry my bad, it was this. When I hear of people messing up the intro, reminds me also of SOAD do that live Prison song where they totally scrapped up the intro one time
Oh, man. When one listen to AJFA you realize that Lars can/could do some badass stuff! AJFA has the best guitar- and drumsound of all the Metallica albums IMO.
In my opinion Ride the Lighting has the worst drumming of all the albums. I t sounds like everything is re-used. Like he just played an average take of one song, then they used everything from that song for all the others too.
the 0-1-2 fill that goes across the whole song and ends at 5.46 is pure genius. 1st time = no fill, 2nd time half fill and 3rd time full filll. masterpiece.
This cover is so damn accurate... This song has a lot of little details here and there that are really difficult to remember, props for that Josh, great as always.
That's what I was thinking For what I've heard, this album is kind of...really good riffs and sections mashed together, hell, even Lars couldn't play many of the songs from AJFA to the last detail, and this right here is accurate as fuck If something's different it's because Josh wanted it to be that way
This is why And Justice for All is Metallica best album, the drumming alone on this album puts it on #1, including James's voice was at its peak, and there sound was perfected, the only bad thing about this album is the lack of the bass lol
I was about 11 years old when One showed up on MTV. It was my first exposure to heavy metal. My mom took me to the store to get And Justice...on cassette 😁 when I heard the first three chords of this song DAH DAH DAH, it was all over for me. Still amazing to this day and I can't say that about a lot of music from the 80's.
dude, from the 80's we've got (besides Metallica): Exodus Testament Megadeth Overkill Iron Maiden Kreator and i could keep on, there are many bands that made catchy riffs in their songs. BUT...Metallica did a better job with their sound, even tho there is no bass on AJFA
I’ve always loved this track but mainly because of the drumming. It’s got some really nice fills and you’ve either nailed them or improved on them. Well done man. Thanks for sharing you love of drumming.
5:51 ...when you show Lars how it's done; or should've been. Lol. Awesome job! One of their best songs I feel; top five. The guitar, drum, lyric, and vocal: f**king brilliant.
As a drummer since almost 15 years now, AJFA is my favorite Metallica album regarding the complexity & technical difficulty of the drums. I think you should check out Quo Vadis maybe Josh. Especially their song Dream is a very technical & progressive drum composition. Thank you so much for being a continuous inspiration in my life when it comes to drums. Your precision & your aspiration for perfection & your hard work ethics are very admireable. Wish you & your family all the best Josh. Cheers
This dude kicks ass, I’ve listened to much of his Metallica covers now. Been reluctant to comment, because I hold them in such high regard, but he has earned the same regard!
My favourite drum beats of all metallica songs..Lars might not be the fastest but we had to agree that his drum strokes created Metallica’s masterpiece
You make me wish I learned how to play the drums. Every time I hear one of the songs you cover on my stereo I imagine that would be me playing. Your living every metal heads dream... keep up the awesome videos.
@@retrolightman6737 Yeah!! Even though he doesn't do double bass like that anymore, he is still a god! I saw a meme where it was like, "Lars' Ulricher then you, so stop ragging on my drumming" I lol'd way too hard

O boy, this is seriously best cover I've ever heard... You nailed it.... especially for the reason that I'm one of the biggest AJFA album fan,and you played absolutely every fuckin note correct and on time with little bit of your touch... congratulations
That's what I was working on is the cradling of the double bass pedals as i have an Alesis and my toms and snare have small trigger heads 8 inches need lsrger radius heads
This is almost to smooth. Awesome man. You can't beat the feel of AJFA. The best sounding album they have ever done, James voice was amazing and Lars drums were the best he's ever done.
Funny when I read peeps saying ‘I wish Lars played like this all the time’ or some other disparaging comment. I’m a drummer. I get it.... Lars may not be the best ever consistency wise. BUT, tracks like Dyers Eve and Shortest Straw show huge talent and more importantly creativity. Lars may not be the best ‘drummer’. But, in my book, is the best drummer for Metallica. Big kudos to Josh for making it seem so easy, so chilled. :). Loved Josh’s little reactions when he nailed more intricate parts. Rock on !

this is one of my fav metallica songs! that was awesome! I just got my set a little while ago and you still inspire me to play man. I got my double bass slightly slower than this song is, so I'm getting there. I have an old school iron cobra lefty pedal which is a little tough to get the hang of but it just clicked today for me for whatever reason when I was practicing. I can do the 8th notes on the hi hat and 16th note double bass now. I was so happy I came down from playing and I couldn't stop smiling my wife was like what?? hahah I cant wait to play this whole song. its so bad ass. keep playing man you inspire me to keep playing.
best drummer on youtube seriously

You need to check out Troy Wright
There's still Samus, but Josh is amazing too.
agrred
I like him and Johnkew. My problem with Josh is the lack of Tool songs.
every time I hear this song I think of lars failing at guitar hero lmao
+Lorenzo Torrez I do too! Hahahaha
+Lorenzo Torrez the fake cymbals haha, what a great game GH:Metallica was.

Yeah, but the bass is average when you hear it. Good thing they took it out!

Only thing wrong which bugs me are the fills

This is why And Justice for All is Metallica best album, the drumming alone on this album puts it on #1, including James's voice was at its peak, and there sound was perfected, the only bad thing about this album is the lack of the bass lol
Ive heard it with the bass remastered and TBH I prefer it without. It gives the album that gritty, raw sound it needs to be what it is.
I think the snare sounded like ass as well, but the playing was spectacular.
Lars is genious after all leaving bass out…
but enhanced bass is a cool stuff in ajfa
This is one of my fav drum tracks of Metallica. It just has that cool vibe.
Yup
