      LOL...Yes Jim, a tad warm as we say! Trains were stopping at Lofty to do a break check and then slowly roll down the grade. It was the start of a shocking summer of fires.

    IMO, IMHO, dynamic brakes are the best thing since sliced bread. Very nice catches ... no isopropyl alcohol alcohol on those rails heh :)

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Bill! Dynamics are a great invention and without them trains would be much shorter and less efficient. This technology is also in all the electric cars being made today , plus the power generated goes back into the batteries, giving you extended range! No IPA on these rails ..LOL
      Cheers Gregg.

      @@FishplateFilms ,why would there be isopropyl alcohol on the rails? they put it in sanitiser because it kills viruses and germs within 30 seconds. unless you try to drink it or shoot it up.

    Great video Gregg, so where does the mainline go at Mt Lofty? It’s amazing how hot it gets down there, hopefully you will have a very comfortable fall and winter. Can’t wait to see more updates on the layout. Cheers from hot Nebraska, Terry.

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  4 роки тому

      Thank you Terry! The line continues about 30km into Adelaide, heading West , and heading East , it goes all the way to Melbourne. We are just starting to cool off now, so I have been in the shed doing some trackwork...but don't tell !! Video on the way soon.

      I'm in Melbourne not Adelaide but a couple of days ago Adelaide was down to two degrees Celsius at night (i.e. close to dawn) and rainfall has been pretty good in both South Australia and Victoria in the last two or three months. Australian eucalypts ('gum trees') will often regenerate after bushfires.

    Nice video again Gregg, i notice PN always attached an EMD loco to push the GE's over the hill! Did the 3rd train run inline refuelling? Cheers John

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  4 роки тому

      Thank you John! Usually the older units are used as extra HP for the Hills and are detached after they get over the climbs. Yes , I mised that but Matt from M&S trains pointed it out.

    Good day, Gregg. I have two more questions for you. My first is regarding the spread of the coronavirus in Australia. Is the situation getting better or worse down there, and what is your country's government doing to control the spread? Are most people receiving paid sick leave during this social distancing period? I've heard that New Zealand has completely contained the spread of the virus through strict social distancing measures. My second question is could Australian locomotives like the c44aci or the nr class effectively pull the North American style freight cars without any issues or are they too big for those locomotives. Cheers, Joe.

    • @vsvnrg3263
      @vsvnrg3263 4 роки тому

      smokey joe, the australian governments were a couple of weeks late getting serious. then they did. those put out of work are getting paid something so they aren't obliged, for reasons of hunger, to go out and risk catching or spreading. here in wa its looking good. nsw and victoria have recurring minor problems. we see reports about murica on the news and omg! australian locos can pull north american freight cars but with issues. the locos are built a lot lighter therefore cant bite on the tracks to the same extent.

      @@vsvnrg3263 Thank you.

    • @FishplateFilms

      The NR class and c44aci are Gevos in and Dash9's in different (boring) boxes and have the same HP as their US cousins. The only limit is the axle weights are lower here due to lighter rail and sleeper spacing from hopeless foresight by governments. Lighter locos have less tractive effort even with the same HP , but these units still do very well considering.
      Thanks for watching.
      Gregg.
