Whats the worst thing that could happen in the security forces? What should be expected, and what should I be aware of? (Barely looking into security for the airforce)
You never know what can happen while at work. It depends on what base/area you’re at. You could have situations like active shooters, gate runners, child abductions, wanted suspects. But yea the likelihood can depend a lot on where you’re at
If you’re looking to do more law enforcement work then becoming a civilian cop would be your best bet. If you’re looking to do more security/detail work then SF is good.
Hey man, I loved the video! This is a career field I've been interested in, but I also want to continue my bachelors degree. What is the schedule like for you? Is it a career that can realistically let me go to school?
Hey I appreciate that a lot! Honestly our schedules can vary a lot with a lot of determining factors. Your schedule can vary anywhere from 8-12 hour shifts. While working anywhere from 2-5 days a week!
@@beavers2510 Thank you for taking the time to fill me in! I'm pretty used to 12 hour shifts, but the rotating amount of days sounds kind of tough with school. Like you said though, I can see being able to take a class or two at a time with this job. Thanks for the info!
@@thomasryan2679 I’m planning on having a career in law enforcement. While you don’t need a “degree”, you still need 60 college credits in my state (New York). So it’s the best option for me to take. Maybe not for the military, but yeah… it does help you become a police officer.
@@thomasryan2679 Yeah I’m not planning on going into the military at the moment. I’ll be joining a police academy. Probably a state academy that either requires 60 college credits or a few years of service

I think so. They have stipulations in the Air Force that you can set up that’ll allow you to be stationed near your child if you are not the custodial parent. So yes I recommend it. Give your kid medical benefits and all that stuff. I’d def look into it if I were you and ask a recruiter some questions
Giving you a heads up from another SF stand point. It’s a rather easy job, but can get stressful. Depending on what shift you are on you can definitely make it work. Usually an on base child care will take them while you are on duty or other base resources. Only bad thing is leadership can be toxic 9 times out of 10.
It’s called srt, and more than likely not. Unless you are AGR, but regardless most bases don’t have an SRT official program. Currently at my base we have TRT which is literally the same thing, but only a few personal per flight get accepted.
In that job, hours and hours of boredom can go to hell really quick. It's about paying attention to what's going on around you, noticing the small things that aren't normal and reacting accordingly.
Thank you for your service, I’m thinking about SF myself
Thank you! Yea just trying to spread awareness about the career field!
