Good stuff I've just put two shoprider scooters together to make one good one. I'm a woman and they're my scooters. Only thing is I have a few disabilities. The problem I Have now is my lights won't work. I've got new batteries on the spare. My other scooter is jerking away then stopping when I stop. So the fix was I have to get off the scooter and then put the yellow lever down move it a few inches and it worked again. As when it shakes and judders it bloody hurts. So I've put the new batteries on a spare one I had for the tyres a year ago. It's been outside but I had it well covered a litte bit of mould etc. Anyway I have done my best. I even swapped the fibre glass case from the back as my scooters lights worked. Nothing o the newish one but the power is fine no juddering noise when it reverses etc. So fingers crossed. Put the best tyres on. I feel guilty leaving my beloved scooter outside!!. Do you think it's just a fuse? I had a good look at them and cleaned it up there was only one wire attached to the fiber glass hood and it fitted well on the one Im trying out now.
Hi am pleased to commend you on your contributions on & of the ills of mobility scooter: but I have a problem I would like to ask for your advise! I own a Drive Cobra GT-4 mobility scooter approximitly 4 years old that a first I through needed new batteries because after a charge the scooter would show full charge but would rapaidly lose that charge within 30 minutes of normal use; after batteries exchange the same systoms exist plus now it has no power to climb any inclines no matter how low! What could be the cause? When ever you have the time of course THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I do have a Pride GoGo Scooter that after 20 years i hope will only need a new battery but anyway, it would not help me to reach the supermarket. I was searching for videos on how to increase the speed and range of this mobility scooter. And when I say the speed I mean at least to 10 m/h for myself or any senior and not the speed of light as some young men are already exploring just for fun.
Hi. Sr. I have a pride victory 10 scooter. When i go on reverse it goes really slow i have to push it with my foot. The speed control knob is at the highest. Forward is fine but reverse is way too slow. Your help will be greatly appreciated
Hi may need a programmer to increase the reverse speed. Or may he a worn throttle pot. Mind you the reverse side is hardly used they way to find this out is the switch the 2 outside wires on the pot and then check
Very interesting and very knowledgeable I’ve been wanting it my scooter. The whole arm went forward and came back. I tightened it up went forward came back and then now it’s fully charged, but when you give the leverage to go, it doesn’t do anything no matter, I took, the fuses are all good so I don’t know I’m stuck in absolutely nothing. Can’t give it any gas the horn work what should I do?
Tom another great video and very useful information thanks. I get how the carbon makes contact with the commutator but where in the housing does the upper spring contact go? Should it sit to the side at 90 degrees as the spring is bent that way ? Much appreciated
hi there, i bought a 2006 mobility scooter non runner to make a electric fishing trolley which worked out fine. i just wondered if i can bypass the wig wag lever and just use the snail and hare knob to make it go forward, i dont need to go backwards. thanx
I have an old Bruno cub I can't find brushes for. I used 2 "43" brushes that I filed down to fit. They work but they get very hot. Is this normal? I also used a glass Fibre pen and cleaned it before I installed them. It runs but not very powerful. Is the motor shot?
Love the videos thank you I have a Care co Zoom plus when attaching the rear end of the scooter sometimes I have to use some force to make the release catch lay flat I have checked and oiled the frame etc any help please
Check to see if any dirt is under the frame where it connects to the front. May have a worn lever Assy. Has it been like this since day 1 if so take it back it not then check it with rear panel removed to see where’s its sticking , maybe a file here and there may help. You will need to check
Hello again I just upgraded to a Pride Elite Traveler mobility scooter and a bit worried when coming to a stop if the ground is slightly raised the scooter free wheels back and have to put my feet on the ground to stop the scooter I was thinking it might be the electronic brake but i don't get any problems when using it normally can you give me some information if it is the e/brake to supply to me please many thanks
How would I go about testing the leads on the batteries to verify they're being charged by the onboard charger? I see 24v entering the electronic control module (ECA) but then it doesn't seem to be putting anything out from there. Rally scooter. Circuit breaker button doesn't hold down, just freestyles.
@@MiguelRamirez-ld7sy hi. 👋 if power does not come out of the controller then there will be an issue with something else as it’s designed not to send power out if there is a problem with the motor. Brake , throttle , speed pot, wiring, terminal connectors, or even it a charger is connected so with that in mind you will have to check everything

Hi. As I have a very hard time walking more than about 200 feet, a friend of mine gave me a 4 wheel pride, legend scooter to use. He got it from a relative that just passed. So it worked for about a week and then I tried to cut my grass by using the scooter to pull the lawn mower. Very quickly it started to jerk and then wouldn't move at all. I turned the switch off and back on a fee times and it moved once and then nothing, I would like to fix this scooter and get it working again, but I'm not sure what parts I would need to buy to replace. Would you mind helping me with your experienced opinion as to what might be wrong and what I would need to order. PS, I've changed the batteries, and that does not help, but the lights and horn are working fine. It just wont move and the motor is not working at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. wiring in throttle on one im working on - the wires bot pulled out of the the two spring sensors (one on each side) 2 brown and 2 black wires - on the little sensors there's a piece of metal to solder one wire and next to it on the same sensor is a wire to solder to. well how do you figure out what wire does what inside the throttle? (twist throttle)
@@AEON. twist grip eh mm yep silly using same colours must be a money saving exercise from the manufacturers. Speak to the supplier that’s my best suggestion.
I've got a wee bit of a problem I can't solve. Battery is fully charged, Charger works, and 24.5v at the charging port, but as soon as you accelerate, she only goes 3" and konks out. It's almost as if the drive lever is popping out, but it's not. And I know the codes don't go that far, but it beeps 8 times! Och I dae nu?

hi i have a day strider been kept in shed not working i know batteries are fully charged as indicater needle shoots up to max on gauge when key turned on i know its not electronic brake as this is just hanging off to check it and working fine micro switch works.when i push lever to go i hear a click in i think control box but not sure its not the brake micro its louder the scooter just judders but not far about a foot then stops it keeps clicking on and off somewhere in back when lever to go is held on perminent i know motor moves as can see it but scooter hardly moves far any ideas please all fuses are ok and all leads pushed together properly
Hey man, I would just like to say thank you for your video's, they're probably far more reaching than you realise...story short, a family member who is gravely ill purchased a dodgy used scooter (there are some real unscrupulous sorts about) and with your video's I was able to repair it for him, he's now able to get out and about again 👍 Thank you brother God speed. Hi bought a rascal mobility scooter and it was doing 8 mp and had it 2 weeks is second hand and it slowed down really slow so bought 2 new batteries witch cost a fortune and no it’s not that could u please help
I don’t ken what model it is but I would check the motor brushes first. Batteries have nothing to do with speed of a scooter. But it’s the distance the scooter they control.
I have had an issue with my Freerider Kensington S, everything working except the drive motor, fault traced back to the motor plug where it enters the controller, burnt connectors, now cleaned, a touch of Vaseline on each connector and I am not mobile. ALL CONNECTORS ARE WORTH CHECKING

Hi Tom hope you are well. I purchased a Gogo plus everything works on it no beeps no flashing lights the problem is that when you go forward from Stand still it clonks and jolts you back into the seat likewise when you go backwards.we traced it back to the rear part as we tried another one and it worked fine. The motor itself looks like it has been worked on before with a new gasket and its very clean for a 2014 model We did try and change the brake all be it from another model but still the same problem any idea?
@@CassandraEddy-ih7gw you will need a programmer to establish fault difficult 😥 to say what’s wrong with what you have said. I would check all connections do continuity on motors, brakes and bus cables. Do you have a flash code ?
If the batterys are both new and voltage going in to controller is 25 and out the most it will do is like 9 and 8 volts in reverse am i missing something he needs this thing to get around and i said i would look but ijust dont know

I have just got a scooter from my friend, it is from care co originally approx 8 years old but only used a few times, then decided to use it again so put two new battery's on it, and again never used it so it lay for over a year, I got it this week and charged it up and went out on it and it just stopped dead after approx 10mins, when I got it transpoted home again I put it bk on charge cos I thought maybe I hadn't given it long enough ,then the next day I took it out it done the same thing stopped dead after approx 1hr, and had to have it transported home again , thr ight is not working on it and the horn is not working , it is suppose to do 8mph but it is not doing that I would say approx 5 or 6mph, does anyone know if it would be the battery's as they had been in the scooter for approx a yesr, if I got two new battery's I'm thinking that may solve the problem, I don't know the model but I have the serial number and it says it takes 2x12V34AH battery's should I order them and try it or get someone to look at it, any feed back would be appreciated.
I have a question about my scooter. It is jerky and I took the gearbox apart and replaced the tiny bearing and cleaned out and regreased the inside. It still feels jerky (almost like I'm driving over a washboard). I don't feel it at fast speeds. Could it be the motor? I have a 3 wheel gogo scooter elite. Thanks for any suggestions.
Can someone tell me how to wire a new brake assembly, when my old one has four wires, two for the coil and two for the micro switch. The new ones only have two wires, how do I wire it back to the harness,( Motherboard)? It’s a 2000 pride sundancer. doesn’t move After I replace the batteries and accidentally squirted some WD-40 around the brake assembly and used a car charger on batteries. (12VDC, 12 Amp) to each battery individually, but failed to unplug wire harness. I’m wondering if this screwed up the motherboard by back feeding.? Using process of elimination…… I have Continuity on the micro switch. No continuity on the coil for the brake assembly. Continuity on the motor, but can’t get any ohm reading. I was going to apply directly power 24 V DC to the motor to confirm the motor works. I’m thinking the only thing that’s wrong is the coil on the brake assembly and I set of new brushes for the motor after I polish up the commutator and blow it all out. Can someone tell me how to wire back to harness the new style two wire brake assembly to a four wire harness. And explain the sequence of events related to power flow after you press forward or reverse… were does it go 1st, 2nd, 3rd for understanding. She was always a little jerky from time to time not too bad, you’d have to rock the chair back-and-forth a few times to get her to go again.
Hi, I wish all the experts were as informative as yourself, you do a brilliant video, maybe you could advise me on my problem, I have a shop rider, I replaced the batteries with a stronger pair,, but they start draining after a few minutes, and within 10 mins, the batteries are almost drained. ?🤔😊
It does matter which way around when it comes to using an analogue meter which you could easier blow by getting the +/- the wrong way round. Bad advise by you!
hi mate i have a rascal ventura and my tiller has become quite loose/wobbly. the wobble seems to be coming from low down on tiller perhaps where the bearings are? do you know how to tighten up a wobbly tiller? i already tightened really tight the big bolt near bottom of tiller. also a small alum key bolt down near there i keep tightening that aswell. my steering has become very "light" so i have to use 2 hands on tiller as with one hand it can steer left or right so need ride with 2 hands on tiller aswell. any help appreciated. If it’s jerky then clean the commutator and check brushes we have all that in stock if you need

Have a wheelchair with 4-pole motors and I am going to replace the brushes but wondering what's the best way to blowout the carbon within the motors?
Air line. Or you can get tins of air with a jet.

Sorry we can’t get those relays or any internal parts for the control boxes. We send all our boxes away for repair. Or supply new ones.

Hi check disc that is inside brake is moving freely when power is applied. You will need to remove the brake to do this. Also check motor brushes

brushes look newish not broken at all
checked all cable conections are in properly there is no beeping or flashing light when ignition key turned on just stays iluminated

Hey man, I would just like to say thank you for your video's, they're probably far more reaching than you realise...story short, a family member who is gravely ill purchased a dodgy used scooter (there are some real unscrupulous sorts about) and with your video's I was able to repair it for him, he's now able to get out and about again 👍

What about a wobbly wheel
If you have a wobbly wheel then there may be an issue with incorrect fitting slack bolts or a faulty / bent axle.
Hi bought a rascal mobility scooter and it was doing 8 mp and had it 2 weeks is second hand and it slowed down really slow so bought 2 new batteries witch cost a fortune and no it’s not that could u please help
I don’t ken what model it is but I would check the motor brushes first. Batteries have nothing to do with speed of a scooter. But it’s the distance the scooter they control.

I have had an issue with my Freerider Kensington S, everything working except the drive motor, fault traced back to the motor plug where it enters the controller, burnt connectors, now cleaned, a touch of Vaseline on each connector and I am not mobile. ALL CONNECTORS ARE WORTH CHECKING

Hi could be water in the horn switch? Check where the noise is coming from.
Hi I spoke to you yesterday about I thought with my partner is back lights I have got another issue what I would like some information about when I turn the scooter on and then go to go forward it goes slightly backwards and forwards any suggestions
Could be a software issue. I presume the scooter was on a level surface.
@@tomjacques4 thanks again forgetting back to me yes it was on my level surface we purchased the Mobility Scooter last year and when we purchased it it only had 4 miles on the clock my partner has used it now for one year and then all of a sudden has now started this issue so when you go forward it reverses around 6 to 8 inch backwards then goes forward

Hi Tom hope you are well. I purchased a Gogo plus everything works on it no beeps no flashing lights the problem is that when you go forward from Stand still it clonks and jolts you back into the seat likewise when you go backwards.we traced it back to the rear part as we tried another one and it worked fine. The motor itself looks like it has been worked on before with a new gasket and its very clean for a 2014 model
We did try and change the brake all be it from another model but still the same problem any idea?

@@CassandraEddy-ih7gw you will need a programmer to establish fault difficult 😥 to say what’s wrong with what you have said. I would check all connections do continuity on motors, brakes and bus cables. Do you have a flash code ?
My control box got wet , what will happen to my scooter
If the batterys are both new and voltage going in to controller is 25 and out the most it will do is like 9 and 8 volts in reverse am i missing something he needs this thing to get around and i said i would look but ijust dont know

I just got a medical scooter..And just because I drove over a little bit of gravel and rocks the battery disconnected!! but I didn't know why or what happened..And I can't walk so I was stuck..But at least now I know how to fix it
I was on a scooter I was going over a curb and it got stuck in the middle and it wouldn't go it won't do anything now I've got over it before it was fine this time I got stuck there and it won't go no more and just sit down and like a discharges right away

I have just got a scooter from my friend, it is from care co originally approx 8 years old but only used a few times, then decided to use it again so put two new battery's on it, and again never used it so it lay for over a year, I got it this week and charged it up and went out on it and it just stopped dead after approx 10mins, when I got it transpoted home again I put it bk on charge cos I thought maybe I hadn't given it long enough ,then the next day I took it out it done the same thing stopped dead after approx 1hr, and had to have it transported home again , thr ight is not working on it and the horn is not working , it is suppose to do 8mph but it is not doing that I would say approx 5 or 6mph, does anyone know if it would be the battery's as they had been in the scooter for approx a yesr, if I got two new battery's I'm thinking that may solve the problem, I don't know the model but I have the serial number and it says it takes 2x12V34AH battery's should I order them and try it or get someone to look at it, any feed back would be appreciated.
Think an engineer would be your best bet a lot to look at

I have a question about my scooter. It is jerky and I took the gearbox apart and replaced the tiny bearing and cleaned out and regreased the inside. It still feels jerky (almost like I'm driving over a washboard). I don't feel it at fast speeds. Could it be the motor? I have a 3 wheel gogo scooter elite. Thanks for any suggestions.
Did you ever find out why your GoGo 3 wheel was jerking? My GoGo 3xl is starting to jerk when I turn it but it doesn’t happen all the time.

Check the voltage at the wires to the battery gauge and follow the wires back

Can someone tell me how to wire a new brake assembly, when my old one has four wires, two for the coil and two for the micro switch. The new ones only have two wires, how do I wire it back to the harness,( Motherboard)?

doesn’t move After I replace the batteries and accidentally squirted some WD-40 around the brake assembly and used a car charger on batteries. (12VDC,
12 Amp) to each battery individually, but failed to unplug wire harness.
I’m wondering if this screwed up the motherboard by back feeding.?
Using process of elimination……
I have Continuity on the micro
switch.
No continuity on the coil for the brake assembly.
Continuity on the motor, but can’t get any ohm reading.
I was going to apply directly power 24 V DC to the motor to confirm the motor works.
I’m thinking the only thing that’s wrong is the coil on the brake assembly and I set of new brushes for the motor after I polish up the commutator and blow it all out.
Can someone tell me how to wire back to harness the new style two wire brake assembly to a four wire harness.
And explain the sequence of events related to power flow after you press forward or reverse… were does it go 1st, 2nd, 3rd for understanding.
She was always a little jerky from time to time not too bad, you’d have to rock the chair back-and-forth a few times to get her to go again.
My scooter did this because the battery wires were loose.
Hi, I wish all the experts were as informative as yourself, you do a brilliant video, maybe you could advise me on my problem, I have a shop rider, I replaced the batteries with a stronger pair,, but they start draining after a few minutes, and within 10 mins, the batteries are almost drained. ?🤔😊
Thanks but brake aren't the problem! Has a replacement motor from older same brand scooter; sons will make exchange as soon as they're in town!
It does matter which way around when it comes to using an analogue meter which you could easier blow by getting the +/- the wrong way round. Bad advise by you!

hi mate i have a rascal ventura and my tiller has become quite loose/wobbly. the wobble seems to be coming from low down on tiller perhaps where the bearings are? do you know how to tighten up a wobbly tiller? i already tightened really tight the big bolt near bottom of tiller. also a small alum key bolt down near there i keep tightening that aswell. my steering has become very "light" so i have to use 2 hands on tiller as with one hand it can steer left or right so need ride with 2 hands on tiller aswell. any help appreciated.
