[about me]
Hi my name is Rosie, I'm 26 and my life is a bit confusing so i'm writing this lol.
To make it easy:
- I was born in Northern Italy, in the region of Veneto
- My whole family still lives there (mom, dad and my little sister Marty)
- I moved to Toronto, Canada, at 19 all alone to ✨find myself✨ (spoiler: it didn't work, i got more lost if anything)
So, I live half my life in Italy and half my life in Canada.
Also, my mom is from Moldova (country in Eastern Europe) and my dad is from Calabria (region in Southern Italy) and both my grandmas still live there. So you’ll occasionally see me going there as well.
I hope this clears things up a bit.. or maybe makes them more confusing lol.

I have a bff who had her first kid at 17. Then while in university, she got pregnant again. She’s turning 30 this year and was able to graduate in uni all while taking care of two kids. I keep returning to this video on days where I don't feel strong enough to handle life's challenges and it feels very comforting to hear such a strong woman like your mom talk about her life experiences, both good and stressful ones. And I really like her positive attitude of pursuing her interests in life without any doubts.

I'm with the others on here; your mum and the staff who work with her, and YOU, are really legendary. We see so often online videos about expensive restaurants and chefs and yes, it's amazing, they work hard to get there, but this is something different and good. It's not just a labour of love, it's a service and feels more important and less trivial. Hard work and dedication that isn't trying to reach this "highest platform" kind of thing. It's food with care for the community, it's taking care of people, and it's being a part of that community, feeding that community who do the work to keep things going. Your recent video about liking the ancient Roman life was so great and I feel you have it already there! It's not the same slow pace as it may have been then, but the heart is exactly the same. The soul of that life style is very alive.

Had to comment again after finishing the video. Wow, just wow. What an incredible human being. What stood out to me was her comment about not wanting you to take over because she wants her children to do what they like. And also how honest she was about the restaurant being popular before she even bought it.

It is a trade off. More disposable income vs more energy. I have 3 kids. Two born at 24 and 25 and the last one at 29. Those 5 years made a massive difference in energy levels.
I think I can listen to your mom speak for hours. She seems extremely wise, pragmatic and down-to-earth.

Her sense of security upon meeting your Dad is how real, mature love works. It's not the butterflies, but the feeling that the man can protect and provide no matter what happens. That's great that this channel opened lines of communication. I had a similar experience with my mom... When people I was friends with started asking questions with friends she respected she started talking about things I had never known about! It ultimately brought us closer... and she's right about the food here compared to Italy! Thank God you came here to fully appreciate where you are from! Love from Canada! I love that you mom is so down to earth. She has a very good heart and I love the fact that she sees all people the same. Also the fact she said she had the best childhood days yet worked so hard during that time is so amazing. I am from the country/rural part and understand to some extent that the best memories are lived in the country areas/regions outside the cities.

It's so interesting that she said she does not feel like she needs "self-care" days because she already feels great. I was watching this video that said the Italian way of life is so wholesome in that it just leaves you feeling fulfilled. The way you guys are likely to congregate for meals almost everyday if not everyday. It is free therapy to spend time with the ones you love while sharing a good meal and a good talk. You guys have higher regulation on what is allowed to be in your food as compared with my country (USA) which could lead to a healthier gut. Which could also lead to a more happier outlook on life.

When I was in the Cinque Terra, I believe it was one of the 5 towns that begins with an "M" don't quite remember. Anyway, it was in 2006, and I saw an Italian family of 5 who were obviously on vacation from whatever other part of Italy they were from. There were 2 sons and a daughter. All happily walking together eating Ice Cream. The 2 sons were older approximately 17/18 and 13/15. They were Both Hanging all over their father as they were walking. Tears came to my eyes at the sentiment of watching this lovely Family!!!
That would NEVER happpen in America!!! Americani si Freddi!!! daughters perhaps, but teenage sons would run from their fathers like Vampires from garlic!! ...and if, perhaps, they DID want to be affectionate with their fathers, the father would most likely reject them and call them wierdos!!
Italy is a beautiful and magical place, at least the parts of it that I have seen. Haven't really been to Southern Italy much though, Just Rome, Firenze, Sienna, Venice.
I need to visit South and see what that's like?

I was born in northern Spain. In a very small town. We had animals and we grew vegetables and fruit. All of us kids had to help. Feed the animals. Plant the field, pick the crops. It was a way of life and we thoroughly enjoyed it. To be poor and survive, everyone helps. And yet we never felt we lacked a thing. Too many people of today could never. So coddled with everything at hand. I admire people like your mother. Hard working, respectful and humble. And incredibly intelligent. She reminds me of my mother and my grandma. Props.
