I feel like the warm and fuzzy tone of the 56 Les Paul is testimonial to how unique, durable, and relevant they are to guitar playing history. Both sounded amazing man, great job on doing justice to both!

man you just can't win against these vintage rigs- now 99.999% of the praise for vintage guitars is how "open" and bright they are on the top end- now i guess when we see a new guitar with a clearer top end compared to its vintage brother, we go ahead and praise the warmth of the vintage pups- now that is why the vintage axe is better.

It looks to me like the 56 is about a 16th of an inch shorter. Also the tone of the 2019 is about a half cent flat. Furthermore, the third dot on the 56 is just about less than a 16th of center compared to the 2019 which of course changes the tone of the two guitars completely. I also noticed that you were holding the 56 much closer to your denim jacket than 2109 and we all know what denim proximity does to the tonal quality of any instrument. And don't get me started on what tie dyed T-shirts do to string tension. Other than that, no, I hear no difference at all.

The original Les Paul Juniors and Specials were inexpensive production line guitars that are sought after for their exceptional attention to detail. Unfortunately now you have to pay 3X more than regular production line models for a Custom Shop model for that same build quality. It's a farce that the regular USA line guitars aren't built this way.

Doctors and lawyers are doing a great job of keeping these Custom Shops in high cotton!! My Epi TV Yellow Les Paul Special with Seymour Duncans looks and sounds exactly like these. Same set neck and all mahogany body and neck with rosewood fretboard. If you get great quality with these, hmmm what am I getting with mine (less resale value and a WHOLE lot more guitar for my money).

Everything is Awesome about that custom shop accept the price. I mean come on you reissue a cheap student guitar for $4,000. Not many students will be playing these again. Actually this scam from Fender and Gibson is fairly recent. In the eighties these were about 250 bucks used. 90s they were a little bit more but not much. In the 2000s Gibson started raising their prices. And Fender said were an iconic guitar also we should raise our prices. And now we are told the only real deal fenders and Gibson's come out of the custom shops. Custom shops are BS just a scam. I'm old enough to remember when there wasn't a custom shop. There's no electric guitar on the planet worth $4,000 let alone 6 to 7 thousand.

My heroes back in the day didn't play custom shops, they played off the shelf regular LP Standards and USA Strats. Now we're kinda conditioned to think that Les Paul Standards are low rent and that USA Strats are mid range. I'm not falling for it. Once the boomers pass over who will even be buying Standards let alone Custom Shop reissues?

I really want to see a comparison with the LP special custom shop reissue and the standard non custom shop Gibson LP special, which is less than half the price. Gibson states the custom shop model has extra attention to detail, but does not specify what those details are. Why would someone pay extra thousands without knowing what that extra money is getting them?
