Duong, I highly recommend getting some plants to grow in the pond for the ducks to eat. The fish will enjoy them too.
The water plants will also provide a home for water insects, which your fish will enjoy eating.
I would suggest collecting some plants from the river, and seeing which ones your ducks like to eat, and then collect more of that type to grow in your pond.
Any plants the ducks like, the fish will like too, and will quickly eat them.
@@Bob_Adkins he can always just grow them in the oldrice paddy where he was farming snails. Or like I suggested in another comment he could dig a small pond in the duck’s area.
But really, it was a suggestion of another type of plant he can grow to feed them. He has had a few bad harvests so having a variety of animal foods would help.

@@glawenclattuc3127 You're right, I agree, but Duong has 50 or more ducks. I had 40 invade my 1.5 acre pond, and they wiped out the fish's food and young fish in no time, and made my floating dock lean 1 foot on from the poop. Imagine what 50 can do!
@@Bob_Adkins I'm still trying to imagine the follow through necessary for taking on SO MANY birds all at once (on the heels of adding the four pigs). I was thinking that maybe he's just moving on from the fish pond and now it's a duck and goose pond? Or maybe he knows something I don't.

Duong, I just had an idea that I keep meaning to suggest: why don’t you make a mushroom farm?
You collect edible mushrooms and collect the tiny spores they make which looks like brown dust. Then you get logs and boil them to sterilise any bad fungus or insects or mould.
Then you put the spores into the boiled sterilised wood. The best way is to drill holes in the wood, add the spores, then splif the hole with a wooden plug.
Then you just leave the mushroom logs somewhere mushrooms will like. A nice moist area with shade. Then every year you will get mushrooms on those logs until the wood is consumed by the fungus.

Nothing quite reminds you of the work Duong has put into this valley farm like seeing what the dirt looks like mere inches under the topsoil. Comparing the sandy texture and ruddy color of the dirt in the holes to the soil in his garden areas really shows Duong to be a decent caretaker of this land. There are years of work ahead for further refining the soil to support more life, but these first few years have been fruitful.

Duong also, for the ducks you should make a ramp so they can easily swim in the lake. Or you could make them a small pond? But ducks NEED to swim.

Duong you should have some type of bedding for your pigs, they will actually be happier and healthier if they can self-regulate their body temperature. Keep up the amazing work!!
Wow, you can tell the poor things were thirsty and hungry after being at market all day! I'd recommend giving the little guys a basin or two of water to take a dip in until you're ready to let them roam into the larger pond area.
Watching you build that coop is really wonderful. You're an artist and expert when it comes to building!
You're going to need to increase your water flow into your pond. That's a lot of ducks, they're going to foul up the water if you don't have a faster water flow. Unless you're going to lead them to the river? Many people do that but they're a bit young yet.
Duong, please: use clean water to feed animals and cleaning their bowls/confort zone. Using the water of the artificial lake is not safe.
The pigs are so cute, but the ducklings have to be my favorite so far. Goats you should get some goats. They would love that hilly area you used to have the pigs in.

I love Duong's videos...I enjoy watching his wife's channel too. One thing I noticed in the market is how, in what could be considered a challenging geographic area, no one really wears closed toe shoes. They mostly wear flip flops or sandals. Why is this? Are sneakers & boots difficult to come by? Is it an import / tariff issue? I just thought it was curious. Keep up the terrific videos Duong! It is very wise that they decided to breed ducks. They are very uncomplicated and require little maintenance. But they will need more space as they get bigger.

Some ducks need to consume sand to they can digest their food. Unless there isn't any poisonous stuff arround they should be fine in their new comfy home :D

Maybe for genetic diversity it would be good to buy ducks from different sources.
I agree. As Duong bought a large number of ducks from one source, it might have helped genetically to have bought some of those ducks, and geese, from other good sources.
I am concerned with the huge quantity of ducklings and geese he bought and how he will go about caring for them once he starts letting them go to the pond and getting them back to their penned coop area. Thats a lot of little quackers and honkers to take care of all at once.
You already have goods to sell at the market. You could sell fish. You have an over-abundance of them in your pond.

Thank you for posting! I see you didn't remove the bark from the posts or burn the buried ends. Sometimes you do this and sometimes you don't? It seems like your growing your farm past your ability to maintain it. When are your girls gonna be big enough to help out? I was thinking goats would be more helpful in keeping the weeds and grass down or a dog would be a nice friend to have around, what are the benefits of ducks when you got so many chickens?

Duong, a suggestion: if you dig a shallow ditch under the coop and add a layer of leaves, you could collect the animal faeces to use as fertiliser.
