when you say "original" Led Zeppelin II, do you mean the Robert Ludwig (RL) "hot" mastering job that got pulled early because it literally made the stylus jump off the LP on substandard turntables ... or do you mean the non-RL "dialed down" pressing that replaced it?
Hey, thanks for pointing that out. I bought it many years ago but from what I can tell now it is a 1975 Warner-Atlantic licensed Italian pressing. The mix however appears to be the same as the original. I will however have to acquire a "true" first pressing and go back and do a triple shootout. I appreciate you stopping by to point that out! Cheers.
Thanks to your comment I am looking into the different pressings. It a complex record pressing historically. The true Ludwig original master was pulled quickly. I just grabbed a 69 Pitman pressing which is considered one of the common "original" pressing with the less hot master. I will do an entire video on just this Zep pressing and I will compare all three after I receive it. Thanks again.
As Derosa says the original does not have a barcode on the back barcodes didn't appear on records till late 79 so yours is not a 1975 press either Time to do more research. oh and by the way the new reissue doesn't sound anywhere near as good as an original. With that being said for the price for a new record they do sound okay but not as good as original pressings which do cost considerably more.
Back in ‘69 twiddling the panpot gave Jimmy Page the giggles. The 3 LP Zep reissues contain alternative mixes of some tracks on the third disc. Are you talking about those? BTW, thank you for not feeding the mania.
No I was talking about the reissue themselves. They do not sound anything like the originals although they do not say they were remixed, only remastered.
In their 3LP super deluxe reissues, the third disc is called the companion disk. The tracks on this disk contains never before releases of alternative mixes of some tracks. Are you comparing these alternative mixes with tracks from original issue LPs?
Good review. I love my Robert Ludwig cut. Way louder and of course the bass is just killer compared to my remastered.
Was the bass boosted or the highs boosted on the 2014 Reissue? Where are they different and how much?

The new version is clearly better.and yess ive got both.
Hate to break it to you mate, but your "original press" has a bar code on the jacket, it ain't no "original"

If you would have read the comments you would see that is old news.
I’ve already done another video on this. But thanks.
