almost everybody I knew in 1969 had to get a better turntable when Zep II came out. The bass thump was so heavy during the guitar breaks on WHole Lotta Love that the tonearm would just bounce and skate across the record!
Thanks for this Josh!! Got an RL/RL in VG+ condition in Sweden for 40Euro a few years ago (shop didn’t know what he had) :) it’s the GOAT for me. Hard to find well maintained copies for sure…
I still haven't been able to get an RL version just yet. Btw, I really enjoyed that Boston LP I bought from you recently Josh. You were correct and it did sound really clean. Thanks! Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
You should check out the Spanish A8/B8 version from the '80s, cut by Marta Alvear. I prefer it to the RL, and that's not just my opinion. That copy is the biggest dark horse when it comes to this album. Not easy to find, but worth searching for.
Of course the RL won! 😅 It just doesn't get any better than that really. I'm really surprised you didn't include the late George Piros cut in there too... It's really, really good too, maybe 90% of a RL.
@@R3TR0R4V3 No doubt! I just didn’t have a Piros in stock right now but I think this was a pretty good representation of some of the more revered copies. Yes, the RL is always a killer! Thanks for watching
Great video Josh! Was looking forward to this video since I love LZ II. I myself own an RL Specialty Pressing that sounds killer. It’s cool to see that the 1976 Japanese pressing sounds really good since I do see it a lot and it’s about a pretty good price so I might end up getting one if I see one in the wild. Keep up the great work and love your 🤙🤘👍
@@MitchsVinylCorner Appreciate it Mitch! Definitely don’t sleep on the 76 Japanese, it really did surprise me and kicked the Mofi’s you know what 😬 Stay tuned, I will have all of these for sale starting tomorrow on the website
I like my 1976 Japan cut too. I have a Monarch RL/RL, Presswell RL/RL, and the very elusive German RL/RL (yes it exists). Any of the RLs are great. But don’t discount the Japan cut. I actually also like the page reissue.
@@revelry1969 I’ve only ever seen the German RL/Strawberry so that’s cool! Yes, I wouldn’t throw the Japan 76 out of bed. Seriously good sounding and comes with that giant poster 😂
"there is a growing consensus that the 2014 J. Page remaster is very good. even Tom Port, from Better-Records says it is one of the best versions available... ( of course Bob Ludwig Cut is King !)

@@SafeAndSoundTXAudioExcursionThanks David! Agreed, clean copies are becoming quite pricey 😬
My RL cut Preswell is the jewel in my collection. Love it.

Nice. I probably need to try running my double RL Monarch through the Kirmuss and giving it another spin.
Awesome video my friend

RL and Piros are 1A and 1B imo, Piros cut all day over the Classic.
I wasn't impressed by my RL. It sounded louder, but that's it
I’m just wondering what is your opinion on the 2014/15 Page remaster of Led Zep II
