That is why I prefer flying with them since they are trained to fly in tough & windy conditions in Iceland
well those Icelandair pilots all trained in Iceland were it's almost always windy. When boeing is testing new planes in crosswind they bring them to Iceland
@@lilyydotdev Yep, Airbus did a lot of tests on the A380 back in the day. KEF is good because it has two long runway that are perpendicular. And often a extreme weather condition.

okay, but that doesn't mean she landed the plane, could have been the co-pilot who was assigned the landing that day
Well you can speculate what you want. I am Icelandic and she was interviewed on Tv here because of this viral video. She landed the plane, rest asure. There was a break in the weather and they landed quite rutinely.

Papa_Smjördeig Ég er þá jafn confused. Það eru væntanlega tveir við stýrið. Flugstjórinn og kóarinn. Allavega hlustaði ég á viðtal við þessa manneskju vegna þessa myndbands, svo líklega hefur hún verið að skálda þetta upp. Hvað heldur þú? Hún gerði reyndar lítið úr þessu og sagði algengt að lenda í svona skilyrðum. Engin áhætta sé tekin.
Kannski lifum við í sinnhvorri víddinni. Hver veit.
I was scared to death when I went to Iceland in winter time. On arrival no wind, but on leaving it was like hell getting to the airport. The IcelandAir B757 took without even noticing it.
This are absolutely great landing. The pilot has a good command of the plane, the direction of the track is correct, the aircraft is properly deflected and after a little bounce on the track that happens very often and under lighter weather conditions, the engine is safe on the runway. A couple years back, a 6m steel shipping container I had on my land in Hvalfjörður (just north of Reykjavík) - containing several tonnes of timber, steel beams, glass, a cast iron stove, and numerous other things - was tossed around like a child's toy. A farmer on the other side of the river had the same thing happen. Gusts across the fjörd were measured at Cat. 5 hurricane wind strengths.
It's a wee bit windy here in the winter ;)

I live next to the icelandic int airport. And its ALWAYS windy here.
You know it’s funny about ice on there they’re the one of the best pilots on the world they fly in Highwinds and Iceland all the time And the rest of the airline pilots out there are mature amateur pilots Icelandair number one pilots in the world in your face
All hydraulic systems, hands on the yoke, feet on the rudder, seat of the pants. No fancy fly-by-haywire or MCAS
This is almost typical weather condition in Iceland, ha, ha....

Just did a similar landing in a 767 on msfs in windy conditions coming into Cairns, even landing first on one wheel 😂

Yes it was the sole pourpouse of this company to get some of that money. Being that is not governemt owned company at all.
