"facts" You can have an opinion like this, but hold it to yourself, if you would be so kind. Many musicoligists and the audience of many concert halls won´t agree with this "fact". Because it is no fact. It is an opinion. It angers me that someone would degrade such a masterpiece with such a mean comment.
Yeh, that' s a bit of cherry-picking - just that some (famous in Western Classic music) composers composed monumental religious music (partly facilitated by rules of harmony etc), this doesn' t mean there is one-to-one correlation between religiosity and music quality. And "music by God" implies there is also "music not by God" which contradicts the purported main Eigenschaft of God - creator of everything. Herewith I am not going into the part whether there is any correct definition for God, or whether God exists - but if God exists, then They will also be creator of mediocre music (whatever "mediocre" even means given the at least partly subjective criteria for "beauty" and "aesthetics"). And music is composed by humans - so claiming the divine intervention happened only diminishes their merit and personal qualities. So yes, this comment is clicheed and stereotypical at least. PS ignore my nickname, it is old and usually does not support my position on God, the divine, religion etc :D
On 12-10-1990 I heared this for the first time. Since then I am playing it very often, I think this is a real master piece....
