I love how this woman explains the physics behind the effort and I simply love her voice. I want to do the splits but I'm not sure I'm not too old to do that now.
As long as you stretch carefully and progress slowly without pushing yourself to far you should stretch at any age as it prevents pulling muscles and things like that. It can also help lower your heart rate!
How old? Anyway, split has less to do with stretching the muscle and more to do with control over your nerves. Therefore, youre muscles being tighter then before does not play as big a part as you think with this particular stretch. Rarely will your muscles be too short for this, but your ability to relax said muscles might be impaired. Especially if you sit down alot. So it becomes more about neurological plasticity than muscular.
You won’t instantly gain the splits from doing these tricks unless you’re already 99% of the way there. You could be doing everything right and still be pretty upright if you don’t have the flexibility.
Im not trying to do the splits but I love your videos and have helped me a ton with hip flexion and better range of motion. For a guy it's been a life changer as I have aged (43) I didn't realize how bad my flexibility was but your videos have helped me change that. Awesome stuff 😁 thanks
Kate, I’ve no clue why I’m subscribing to your channel because the old gray mare ain’t what she used to be. I know! I enjoy dreaming of how my body would be different now, had you been my instructor 45 years ago. This split would be marvelous as I’m sure it frees the entire pelvic floor. ❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve found this form of splits to be much easier than the other version for me. Never achieved it the other way. My hamstring and quads are too stiff and it’s too painful feeling that stretch.
As a dancer you are usually told to do the second one but whenever you are in a middle split you body should be facing the way your knees are facing. If your knees are on the floor so should you body if your knees are facing the ceiling so should you body.
I’m also really disturbed by some of the comments, so just to offset them a bit more, thank you so much for the advice, after attempting this I can confirm that I get further with the anterior tilt, though my turn out is definitely not very good. I’m pigeon toed and try as my ballet teacher might, my turn out has only progressed to maybe a 90 degree angle altogether. I started out being unable to do parallel though so it is progress 😂❤
I appreciate the kind words! I weirdly excited to hear that you're pigeon toed since I can't help but notice that people tend to be duck toed more - but that leads to tight IT bands. Interesting note about the turnout - you have me rotating my feet to see my degree as I've never thought about it like that. :) I hope you have a lovely new year!
As a dancer we are told to do the second one as it helps turnout

Wow actual in depth explanation 😮thanks 👍
Glad it helped!
This is so well explained, using the hand gestures makes it really easy to understand and visualise 🙏
Oh hey Charlie!!
Lovely to see all the yoga teachers together 😊😊
Love both you guys.❤
Dang, as a male this always been elusive. Best insight I have ever heard. Only took 50 some years to catch it! 😅 thanks so much
Great tips and content! Thank you Kate! I am achieving deeper splits with your help!
I tried both! Not sure what I did wrong but still pretty upright 😂
Same! 😂
😅😅
I did too, those do not apply to me. There must be another reason 😅😂😂

fr😭😭
Thank you so much i just got my middle splits cause of you! ❤
Woot!I'm cheering you on!!
Great how it's all explained, even mimicking the ball joints popping out if done wrong, beautiful in more ways than one. 👏🏼

Excellently explained Kate!❤
The house can hear my screams in pain

Thanks for the info ❤
Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks ❤
The external rotation of the feet works well for me. Very simple and concise explanation. I didn't really take that into consideration. 🙏🧘♂️❤️💯😎
oh my god😭 no wonder i couldnt do my middle splits and i knew it wasn’t my muscles!! thank you!!
No doubt, interior pelvic split is great for hip socket
Helped soo much

I’m so glad I know how to enter my middle split now

Pure love
Yes ill go out with you ❤
Looks so easy 😂
Stunning Kate 👌
Beautiful!
Very beautifully done and explained by you...
Fascinating! I should definitely try that....

Another great tip😮😲🤯

Perfect 💞
How about the beginner please
Nice technique I do ❤
No,you did a Middle Split ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I did this and went to the ER
😅
Actually useful to be fair
Appreciate you!
I don’t know what she did but I enjoyed it.
Been trying to do the splits for almost 30 years and still can’t do it 😮
That’s genius!
I just pop my hips out… this seems a lot healthier and like I could do it more than just occasionally (I don’t want permanent socket issues)
There's a reason why they sell toenail clippers at many stores.
Don't let them bother you. :)
AMAZING
Do muscles to stretch too
does anterior pelvic tilt require lordosis of the spine?
That’s why my gymnastics teacher told me to not do the
wrong way
Just land it slowly and safely
I'm trying
Beautiful and brilliant. Wish I had a younger femur.😊
Wow❤❤❤, ur amazing and awesome
That's about as far as I can go when I was younger, practicing martial arts.
How tall are you and how weight ❤❤
Have you got a whole video to help up practice this pose?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Insane
What how I tried it works
I'm eating a bacon sarnie here, but also taking it all in for when i start yoga. 😊
👏👏👏👏
I just thought about doing this and one of my legs fell off. Guess I'm not there yet, perhaps some more stretching.
Omg it worked i had got down 5 cm
And Also I have a really Tight Hamstrings huhu😭😭😭 That's why I can't lower my Middle Split or Front Split and I also Lack Hip Mobility too😥
Yes there are muscular restrictions and skeletal restrictions. Let's loosen up those hamstrings! 🙌
You are master 👍
HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!
I did that and not go down
Ive always wanted to fo a split, but never could, due to the curve in my spine.
Fabulous! darling 💕😘
Who else tried to do this and found out they can't, in fact, magically do a split 😂
wow
I did the middle split not like that 😁😁
I am not sure I did it or not
My 13 year old brain: "haha Bone into Assitablium"
🤦♀️
I just think because my back posture isn’t straight 😂
❤️🔥🇺🇸
Oh blame it on the old assitabulom!
Arbetar du med hästar?
Is that why I need another hip replacement
I wonder how tall she is?
Hmmm nobody ever explained it before thank you.
I don’t understand
You are not of this world❤
🤩👣💕👣💕👣
Gyaatt
I don't know what she is saying, just can't get my eyes off her eyes....omg 😳
“Stick that booty out” sounds like a great name for an Akon song 😎
The assa what?😊
Her vocal fry is working. Intentional? No doubt: this is UA-cam😏
I've never been told I have vocal fry. hmm 🤔
when she says bootylicious
okay cool but my gymnastics coach would never call that a middle split
Agreed! It's a stretch that helps get you into middle split over time. 👍🏼
😮
❤ #WhiteToesTeam ❤
Is that a sags position 😂
What’d you call me?! 😅
I'm not going to attempt to try this, but i'd be more than happy to sit in front of Kate whilst she does.
Jesus Christ Loves you all, God bless!!! ✝️❤️♾️🤍🕊️🙏
Bless you too! 🙏
🫠
Not happening😂
