  • I do a brake job that 4 shops will not do because of the ABS ring. That is part of the job replacing rotors and they refuse to do it. I get it done when nobody else can.

    After having to replace the brakes on our 1994 Tioga it had a damaged abs ring from prior brake jobs was unable to locate abs tone ring decided to upgrade brakes to a 2000 e350 replaced spindles and calipers new hoses much better setup larger rotor used powerstop rotors also installed new abs sensors and the abs system works great 👍 cost was 100 for spindles from wrecking yard calipers from advanced 65 each new hoses 20 each powerstor rotors when bought was 300 for the set with pads single piece no hub to swap parts over wish I could show some photos last was a wheel alignment 120 highly recommended if your needing better brakes thanks for showing this video was very helpful with my rv brakes

      I'd be down to see this but I don't have abs

    • @roadrescue829
      @roadrescue829 Місяць тому

      @josh2896 it would still work without abs but you need spindles with anchor plates new calibers rotors and lines for a 2000+ I spent alot of time researching this checking part numbers with ford to make sure it was compatible the spindles can be used off a e350 single axle that's what I used much better braking overall very happy with newer style brakes 😀

      @roadrescue829 yeah I'm fighting with the warped rotors on my 93 no ABS though. Bravo for going to that effort and being successful

    • @roadrescue829
      @roadrescue829 Місяць тому

      @josh2896 Warped rotors are common I've have to have two sets of powerstop rotors turned also these RVs are very heavy which does not help I did check your brake rotors are the same as a 1994 which you could upgrade to 2000-2005 doesn't matter about abs or not just one less thing to install I do like not having to reuse the old hub if you have an email I could share some photos of upgrade install

    I can see why people don't want to work on those ABS brake rotors after all the trouble you had getting those rings off! Also thanks for the tutorial on how to properly pack a wheel bearing. The grease on the camera lens just made the video seem more authentic so don't worry about it. I'm looking forward to more videos in the near future. Big thumbs up!

    OEM manufacturers are lowering weight by reducing thickness and using material that weighs less. Thus the cracking, warping, etc. Often rotors can't be turned at all and need to be replaced at first warpage. Good idea to go away from OEM for replacements due to this. Fed gov standards for fuel economy create need to reduce weight/fuel use and thus the issues.

    • @claireclaire7504
      @claireclaire7504 6 років тому

      A Day : So how do you know to not use OEM replacement? That is not good. So basically the brake rotors can't be turned and more once they go bad they are just garbage. Wow.

    Any idea what would cause cracks like that? Defective rotor?

    • @rvprepperwayne
      @rvprepperwayne  6 років тому

      Age and being a big RV there is more heat build up when breaking and that can cause them to crack. Also a hot rotor that is hit with water can cause cracking too.

    • @rvprepperwayne

Problems are as following, first of mechanically it runs good drove it from wichita ks to kansas city Missouri, guy I bought it from said it was winterized at time of purchase, generator will not start, has 80%propane in tank (according to tank valve) can't figure out how to get the house heater started. You take a big chance working on brakes you don't look like the kind of fella that would have any type of liability insurance just hope nobody has an accident they'll sue you for your trailer .

      R E : Can't he just have them sign a release from liability? That is what I would do.

    That's scary. I have a 94 Dodge class B...how do you know if the breaks are cracked?

      CoolCat Carolena i doubt if a cracked rotor would show symptoms as a result of the cracks. The cracks would most likely be discoverable through a visual inspection only.

      I agree with Michael. You also might feel a bad shake while braking or you see excessive brake dust.

    Wayne, how do you charge? Do you do an assessment and then a bid, or by the hour?
