    I did the front brakes on my 2005 Ford E350 today, I wish I had watched your video before. I got it done without pain but I would like to have watched your video before. I really like your clear no non sense approach to being a mechanic. You provided so many "little tricks" for the novice wrencher :-) like how to set the preload on the wheel bearings. Please keep up the great work, I am certainly subscripting to see what other usefully things I can learn. Thanks again.

    Very informative. Good video angles and light made it easy for us to see what you were doing. Thanks

    I feel like an idiot. I'm pretty familiar with cars and brakes, but didn't realize that you have to empty the fluid reservoir part way, because I've never had to do that on other vehicles. I ended up compressing 3 of the calipers, a total of 6 pistons, as far in as they would go before watching this video. Fortunately I just went outside and checked and the fluid reservoir didn't overflow at all. Thank God! My fluid level is not all the way up to the maximum fill line, but had it been filled higher it may have leaked.

    Thanks. I hadn’t done one in a while and couldn’t get the new pads in the new caliper. I didn’t have it torn apart. Duh. 🙄.

    I didn't see you take off the races. Did you do that too, or did the new rotors come with the new races?

    If anyone struggles with getting these calipers back on and off there is a reason for all that. The right pass side caliper is grooved has a pawl like and detaches comes out by prying the top out first then just lift it out. The drivers side is the opposite you pry the bottom out first and just pull down and the caliper comes off..... >>> They install back the same way bottom in on pass side and top in drivers side same as ya took em off because of those PAWL set ups. My first exp with one of these trucks was not pleasant going at it blindly when it was only a few years old keep in mind You Tube did not yet exist to this extent but there was some content and mostly all the videos glossed way over this little sin and fact of the installation of new brake pads. For one thing videos like this is what leads ya to believe it's easy as pie and it ain't they gloss over important facts and data. As far as Ford Braking Systems to GM they are far superior on their 3500 series trucks on own and easier to maintain provided ya don't buy that garbage at Auto Bone and Advanced. Fleet pads from Napa and the performance Ambulance rotors with the drill slots. Makes sense the pads burn dirtier but the stopping power is ten fold of normal shit from those two booby prize autoparts outfits. I am mostly a GM Speed & Performance shop however these Ford Vans kill the GM vans ya buy. These vans work hard for folks and if get em rust coated early and keep up on em they make ya money no doubt I would buy a Ford Van over a GM any day of the week. I can't say so much about Ford pickups they mostly Suck ass

    Shouldn’t you add some more brake fluid as the final step? Or at least check the level? Thanks.

    Can't you remove the rotor without touching the bearing?

    Is there a front bearing race or does it ride on the hub surface?

    • @whitecollargarage7777
      @whitecollargarage7777  Рік тому

      Yes there is a race in the rotor. Inspect it for pitting and scaring. If it looks bad replace them. You can hammer the race out with a punch and hammer. The race is installed with a punch and hammer as well. Or you can use a bearing race installer. AutoZone and other auto part stores have them as a loaner tool
