    Yooooo! I just realized that I'm not translating as much in my head, I can just understand what is being said. I'm far from being able to speak Japanese and even farther from organizing the sentence structure correctly, but I understand the words that she is saying. Out of order, yes, but I can infer what is being said. For those who are having a hard time writing and listening to Japanese "speak out of order" compared to English, it starts to make sense after a while. It's taken me 2 years of non serious studying to finally get past understanding the sentence order. I don't worry about translating the sentence in my head; I just listen for what I understand now.

    • @johnlawrencetamio4381
      @johnlawrencetamio4381 15 днів тому +5

      Same here. I was like "Why can't I translate it?" even though I understood most of it. Then I realized it's because the translation is reversed! Translating Japanese to English requires you to listen to the whole sentence before you can start translating it since the translation is often right to left, otherwise your translation will be "out of order" just as you said.
      Trust me, if you want to be able to understand Japanese, translating is unnecessary unless you want to be a translator or an Interpreter. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it because that's what I call natural acquisition. 2 years is a long time and you are on the right path. Just a friendly advice, if you are not studying seriously, try to study N4 or N3 grammar from time to time. It helps in sentence construction and future understanding. Also, don't forget immersion.

    I really like the English subtitles. Sometimes when I'm using a program to learn Japanese, the English translations are "what they mean to say" vs what they literally just said in Japanese. I get they want the English to be more like what a native English speaker would say, but It can be confusing and it slows down the learning process for me. So I appreciate your subtitles actually say what you're saying in Japanese. I hope that made sense.

    • @creaper3538
      @creaper3538 20 днів тому +13

    This video was great for me. I understood most of the first which was very encouraging, I still need more vocab. Thanks, please do this again for N5 sometime 😀

    Thanks, I've been learning for one month and I'm surprised how much I understood. I didn't get every word, but around 60-70% of them, enough to understand what you were talking about.

    Yes please, make more of these videos. I just finished N5 and working on N4. I was very proud of myself that I missed 2-3 words at the most in the dialogue. I’m sure other students would highly appreciate the complexity of the instructional videos 😊
