For those confused of the UK system (All marks are percentages!) Under 40%- Fail 40-49%- 3rd 50%-59%- 2:2 60-69%- 2:1 70%+- 1st Humanities degrees are marked like academic papers and to get over 80 usually means your work is publishable as a stand alone academic work, so it very difficult to get in a BA subject. A 2:1/high 2:1 or 1st is expected for most jobs and post grad courses. Hope this helped all other nationality viewers :)

They ended up not actually getting the courses accredited but instead purpsely "failed by failing to hand in the proper forms in time" and retook them here.

71.25 isn’t “just” a first, it is very difficult to alter overall grades by a percent! Wait until your final year and you will realise that percentages take a lot to change, a 100% essay in your final year might only alter your final grade by 0.1%! Be super happy with 71.25% because you haven’t scraped it at all, 70.01 is “just” a first!

Professors won't hand out full marks on essay-type assignments / exams, because there will always be room for improvement. (According to the uk grading system that is) Besides, an 84 on an essay in uk university is the america equivalent of A+ .

I've just got the results from my first semester studying Occupational Therapy and I finished with a perfect 7.0 GPA (aka the highest you can get here in Australia)! It is far too easy to give in to the tendency to compare yourself with others and let the anxiety of results day pollute or tarnish how you view others. I was so close to avoiding this video for this reason, but I think it's important to show our gratitude and support to each-other as this is (most possibly) the most supportive community on the planet! I am unsure if other viewers ever exhibit the same comparative tendencies the closer results day is (idk). I am extremely proud you have come this far, as your videos provided an enhanced means of motivation in my final years of university - and better that you always seemed so humble and relentlessly unique during the process! Ruby, to people outside the UK your grading system is really strange. I am from Germany but I studied in Scotland for a semester. In Germany you fail at 50, at 70 you get a C, 85 might be a B and you only get an A from 90 up. But then again sometimes our grading system can be like if someone did a lot of extra work and is really standing out they can get extra points like 100 + 5 out of 100. Also our grading system is very linear. At first I would never understand why everyone was happy about like 70 or so. And also I wondered why noone got 100 even it they studied really hard. You should explain your grading system in a video, because it is really really confusing for the rest of the world 😂 (or some of it at least)

Dachte die Nachkommastellen wären ohnehin nur da um weiter zwischen den 4 eigentlichen Notenstufen zu differenzieren.

I find it somewhat interesting that in the UK, you need 40% to pass at uni level, whereas in German-speaking countries (where I studied) it's usually 50-60%. BUT well done, Ruby! Those are great results & you totally deserve them!
@@daliagrantham8423 I still think it's weird. ^^; Mentally too, it must be quite frustrating never to get the "higher" numbers like 80, 90 or even 100 even though intellectually you know that's just how the system works.

In Finnish universities the scaling goes from 1-5 where 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. For 1 you need 50% and for 5 you need 90%.

The fact my son had a low gpa got me really sad and always thinking because education is power i contacted someone who claimed to help but got scammed. being scammed quiet a number of times, A concerned friend informed me about jack at first wasn't interested but later gave it a trial he got my sons gpa changed from 1.2 to 4.0 all A's i cant thank@ jack.smith_07 on Instagram enough i had to compensate him more for a job well done. we equally chat on whatsapp @+121399353727

I don't really understand the grading system. Is it out of 100 or something else? ❤️ Great video as always!

40% = 3rd
50% = 2:2
60%=2.1
70%=1st
Degrees in UK are hard and our exams marked like proper academic papers, so getting above 85% is nearly impossible. Anything above 60% is what people strive for and what employers want, so Ruby did incredible

Wouldn't it be normal for system to be a little easier and the best students would have 90% ... Anyways I was really confused when I watched this video so thanks
@@GobsAlmightyVlogs come to India someday. At health University 50% is pass, more than 75% is honours. That's it. No in between. No more grading. It's dam hard. Too hard.

Congrats on getting a First in first year! I've just gotten my results for final year and will graduate next week with a 2:1! I was pretty close to a First but I'm still happy with a 2:1. I filmed my reaction too. :)
