One thing I think really needs more exposure is just how thrust stance's heavy attack works; There's a perk which makes the heavy attack deploy instantly after a roll or perfect dodge at 4 focus, and while this move is phenomenal for striking at bosses who normally evade heavy attacks (one of them is even cheeky about it), it doesn't get the benefit of you being able to heal per focus consumed like normal charged attacks do with the health on focus consumption perk. When I'm in thrust stance and need that extra bit of healing, I prefer to do a jump heavy over a charged attack since it takes less time than a normal heavy charged and is a guaranteed heal, but does less damage than if you hit them with an instant heavy.

There are more than enough luijoas in the game , and there are almost enough wine worms . The base gourd healing wise is the best if fully upgraded . You can take the most sips and have very high healing over 50% . No gourd can match that .
The Jade gourd may only give you 30% health but it COMPLETELY heals your duplicates in the mist of using that spell. It doesnt extend the time they attack but it secures them from dying early. If you upgrade that spell tree completely there is no better means to take off a huge amount of damage in a very small amount of time and distract the enemy from hitting you. If you gotten moderately good at see through and perfect dodges a 20% difference in healing you wont even notice. Combine that with the skill to increase health depending on how many focus points you use on a heavy attack and you'll be fine.
Great video - instant subscribe. Small nitpick - when you showcased evanescence you only showcased the standard immobilize. Doesn't really matter, but something I noticed! Thanks for all the hard work and looking forward to more vids!
BTW you can use lambbrew with plaguebane gourd and the 25% healing over time is not halved. so you effectively negate the drawback of plaguebane, you just heal 10% instantly +25% over a few seconds, and you get a 20% boost to attack for 20 secs every time you sip. you can't upgrade the gourd though (but there is a more powerful upgraded version later on)
A correction on evanescence from immobilize, is you can’t just use it as an enemy attacks, it has a very small window of activation, like a parry, but even shorter than perfect dodge. You’ll know you did it right when the immobilize icon above the enemy is black and not yellow
I'm pretty sure that for the immobilize buff you need to time it as if you're parrying the enemy when you freeze them to extend the duration and damage. Just doing it in the middle of their attack does nothing.
Something important I've noticed, defense and damage reduction aren't the same thing. Damage reduction refers specifically to times when you take reduced damage, like the spark spent on making the final light attack have damage reduction, that reduction is only increased for that window, where as defense will affect any general damage taken
In addition to sparks, meditation spots also replenish mana. Didn't catch this till late in my first playthrough, but can be useful if trying to clear as much as possible without triggering respawn by resting.
@@soultekkamusic115 Yeah, it looks fun, but I'm not good at combat and I really don't like fighting the same boss over and over. I'll probably just watch a letsplay.

Hey thanks! I appreciate your support 🤜🤛😄 Glad you're enjoying the game as well! The lightning on the staff is the ability for the Kang-Jin staff. It's a staff you can craft in the Willow Wood staff upgrade tree once you defeat the dragon boss at the start of Chapter 3.

Another tip I find for boss fights is to pop cloud step, then a pluck of many, then a medicine and I still have time to unveiling strike. All while avoiding any boss damage and possibly using my gourd while invisible if needed
You can upgrade your gourd to at least 10, which is beyond max. Once you finished the upgrade from the monkey, you’ll have 9, and there is a way to get to 10, with the gourd guy you find in the environment. It’s in chapter 5.
@@ArktixOfficial How the upgrading system with it’s prerequisites work. Best ones, the ones you like most, what their effects actually do. General info like that and whatever else you think would be interesting/useful.
they showed some combat variety in the trailers for black myth wukong but they removed it now on the actual release like throwing the staff could've been essential and the fast cooldown of abilities
I got my gourd to Mythic and the Wine to Mythic and still using them despite me getting all gourds and wines in the game. I'm at NG+ now so I'll be able to get the last node for the Wine. It's really nice and it has 3 soaks. Would use the one with 4 soak slots but the debuff is kinda bad on high stress battles. I use the soak that doesn't use up any gourd at a chance so I get more spammy heals lol. I do hope they add more wines in this game. The basic ones are nice if you just want raw healing. Sometimes I switch to the one that gives mana per heal and just throw in the mana and gourd use soak.
The best way to deal with shield enemies is the fully charged Smash stance which you can easily charge while springing around them. Not only it almost break the entire shield HP but also knocks the enemy down.
It's very easy to get rid of large shield enemies. Just immobalize them then hit them from the back with Tier 3 charged attack or the baby thanos spirit skill to break the immobilize deleting 90% of their HP and knocking them to the ground for the finishing blows
1 tips I might add is that the highest healing drink (60%) temporarily impair your movement, you can get away by dodging right after drinking utilizing I frame and dont get stomped by the bosses LOL The game is great, tho I hate the fact that they require SO MANY RNG items and missable questlines to 100 this game.
Great boss fight advice I do the same, I wait til I learn the patterns and get their health down to atleast 25% then after that attempt with the medicines l
That mind core has a trick which makes drop almost spawn in every death. Just fight them both immobilize and BOMB THEM using that double head rat it kills them both at the same time. It got me mind core each and every time
The wooden shields can be obliterated by the arrow deflecting staff spinning move. It eats away the shield in no time (and those enemies' health bar too). But the metal shield is a different story.
Hi Arktix, I assume you play on ps5, I really want to get the game on console but the performence issues are keeping me away so far. How was/is the game for you? Are these problems deal breakers or is it not that bad? Also, do you play on performence mode or balanced (it doesn't look like quality mode in this video)? Great video as always! :)
Hey! Actually, I've been playing on PC, but I also have the PS5 version and have played a few hours that way. If you have a powerful PC, I would play it on there, but it's certainly playable on PS5 as well. Hopefully, they release a patch soon that optimizes performance a bit as you can get some frame drops/stutters, especially in later chapters, but I think it's fine on PS5 if that's how you can play. I hope you enjoy it if you pick it up!
By the time I got to chapter 3 I was level 77. At that point bosses stopped being insanely hard and we're just moderately difficult. Use lvl 2 to farm xp points at the shrine just before rock vanguard
The regular gourd is the best one if you only use for healing. (After you upgrade it) spending resources on other gourds is not as helpful in most cases. Same goes for first regular drink but you can find more uses for some of the upgrades there that do not come with the regular drinks upgrades.
Wait all along i thought there was no parrying so the rock form acts as a form of parry? No wonder its description said to time it right for full effectiveness. I've been trying to see if there's a way to parry but upon your explanation...holy 🤯

Use the ogre spirit to create a field of enhanced attacks and then spam and use the furrys to spam with you. Then turn into the fire fox and go ham. Will cut you half the battle with many bosses. Only thing you have to watch out for is that the boss doesn’t hit you before you complete the animation. So I usually start off at the edge before the guy comes at me.
Another tip I find for boss fights is to pop cloud step, then a pluck of many, then a medicine and I still have time to unveiling strike. All while avoiding any boss damage and possibly using my gourd while invisible if needed
I didn’t know you can use other spells while in cloud step? Did you have to upgrade cloud step to get that activated ??
It's really helpful ❤
Thanks! Glad you found this helpful 😄
You can upgrade your gourd to at least 10, which is beyond max. Once you finished the upgrade from the monkey, you’ll have 9, and there is a way to get to 10, with the gourd guy you find in the environment. It’s in chapter 5.
Dude the first frickin example in that dumb prison had me fuming. I died twice because I was trying to get the archer first with only a single jump
Lol yeah that's the exact spot I finally figured out how to do the double jump haha
Great video, perhaps one that goes over weapons and armor?
Thanks! What exactly would you like to see about armor and weapons? The best ones?
@@ArktixOfficial How the upgrading system with it’s prerequisites work. Best ones, the ones you like most, what their effects actually do. General info like that and whatever else you think would be interesting/useful.
Gotcha. Thanks for the suggestions!
Super helpful thank you!!!!
Upgrading the coconut wine isn’t a bad play, there aren’t enough to upgrade both but the coconut wine gets pretty good in the later upgrade levels
That's what I use. It's just too much health given to not use. It's basically 3/4 of a bar
@@johndymond4596if you sit in an upgraded ring of fire, it’s insane how much health you can get from one chug.
Brother great tips, like no bulshit great stuff!
Very informative. Cheers.
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful 😄
Thank you very much here's a sub and like 🎉
Hey thanks! I appreciate your sub and like 🙏😁
yes, you can upgrade the gourd to max 10 sips in the first play through. but i did not manage to upgrade the brew to max
i love fighting the plants so now imma be ready for every one
they showed some combat variety in the trailers for black myth wukong but they removed it now on the actual release like throwing the staff could've been essential and the fast cooldown of abilities
thanks for sharing !😃
Thank you for this valuable guide 🙏. I'm a bad gamer, so this will help a lot. 🥰
Excellent guide
The best way to deal with shield enemies is the fully charged Smash stance which you can easily charge while springing around them. Not only it almost break the entire shield HP but also knocks the enemy down.
It's very easy to get rid of large shield enemies. Just immobalize them then hit them from the back with Tier 3 charged attack or the baby thanos spirit skill to break the immobilize deleting 90% of their HP and knocking them to the ground for the finishing blows
Thank you! I def missed some stuff! Can't believe I missed the zodiac village.
No problem! Glad you were able to pick up some tips!
Battle plan? Nah, I'm just bashing my head against a brick wall until I finally crush it
1 tips I might add is that the highest healing drink (60%) temporarily impair your movement, you can get away by dodging right after drinking utilizing I frame and dont get stomped by the bosses LOL
The game is great, tho I hate the fact that they require SO MANY RNG items and missable questlines to 100 this game.
Great boss fight advice I do the same, I wait til I learn the patterns and get their health down to atleast 25% then after that attempt with the medicines l
This is basically god of war with kung fu lmao i fkn love it haha
That mind core has a trick which makes drop almost spawn in every death. Just fight them both immobilize and BOMB THEM using that double head rat it kills them both at the same time. It got me mind core each and every time
Love the part with the guys pretending to be plants 😄
Thank you,this one is Dope.
Thanks, Davor! Glad you liked it 😁
@@ArktixOfficial Always Brother,
I like every single one of your 296 videos 😁😁😁
Haha I appreciate you brother 🤜🤛😁
I figured the shield technique randomly... I was gonna immobilize but pressed rock solid and i was stunned
I will definitely have to test that double jump
Totally! Yeah I couldn't figure out how to get up to those perched enemies for a long time.
That’s hilarious the same spot he showcased the double jump in the same place I figured it out yesterday lol
Thx Man
The wooden shields can be obliterated by the arrow deflecting staff spinning move.
I play performance mode, and no issues at all.
@@davidyang5131 I've heard there is button delay on dodge and heal, also pretty heavy framuga drops especially in chapter 3
@@grig0s620 no delays for me, but I did notice a little frame dropping Chapter 3. Nothing big enough to stop me from playing, this game is 10/10
Thanks for the hints but could I ask what system you're playing on ?
Yup! It's basically a parry when you time it just right.
There is enough Luojia Fragrant Vines in base game to fully upgrade Medicine Sage Gourd
